  1. Here we go again...... Did you ask for bike box for packing your bike properly to out on the plane? or did you ask them for a used bike box that had been chucked in their rubbish bin? most probably damaged with holes in it? Sounds to me like you dont value your bike....R95 to get the a fresh new undamaged box or Gratis / free broken box.... Maybe you should habe gone to Fruit and Veg and got a banana box!
  2. There is an age limit for a reason, its the same reason why young riders are subject to gear restrictions and limited by distances, you might well feel strong enough to do it and you probably would get through it but for your body to recover day to day over the 8 days it would be taking too much out. the stages are too long and hard for most of the field, rather wait til your 19 to try and do it. you will enjoy it more, your body will have matured enough to handle the endurance and you will enjoy it a whole lot more.
  3. The question is why use the foreign imported stuff when the "best" stuff on the market is Energy Dynamics...... half the cost and twice the product of the imported stuff....... mr enervit......you really looking for the support of the shops that sell your product or the sympathy of the hubbers that buy the stuff and crib about the price??? Witrot....go back to Bloom "Everything sounds better there" the fact that you can save money in bloom but costs you 600 rand in petrol to go there sounds stupid to me..... where is your loyalty? If you find a product cheaper in your locality tell the guys who are selling it, they might make a plan for you. rather ask....costs less and they might do a great deal for you.... everyone winning
  4. Getting into an argument over which bike is better is futile on cheaper end road bikes, whats important is which "feels better". I would say the trek will fell sturtier because its not a compact frame, and im a traditionalist and not overly impressed with the compacts. As for the shoes, pick a shoe thats comfortable, there is a great range of entry level shoes, just make sure there compatible for your choice of pedal. as winter is aproaching maybe look for a shoe with cleat option that you can use in a gym or spinning studio.
  5. Didnt Anke ride away in 2004 with two vets to win.... over suikerboisse? as for racing with the men the top wemon have proved that they are well able to do so, the best girl will still reign supreme. Anke and Cherise are testiment to it. FINE RESULTS BEATING THE BEST OF THE VETS................ As for anyone saying that the the girls could win with a break away/ TT effort.... look over the results of wemons racing and tell me the last person to win a race in that style.... before you mention yolandai du toit in 05 94.7......
  6. David rode his shorts off to save his ass from the wrath of Douglas Ryder. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> on second thoughts?.. The Barlow's knew they had it in the bag; no rider was going to put in a super human effort and waist unnecessary energy before tomorrow?s South-African World Champs.
  7. Finishing with the world?s best pro?s sure he gets a pat on the back for that. Getting a result against them is the point I am trying make. If one is a seasonal pro and one sits in all day long (like DG would at WC) it is very possible to finish with the bunch, however if you race balls to the walls it?s a total different story.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  8. Sure hats off to DG for hanging in but lets face it, he was only hanging in, somehow I don?t think he was able to put in an attack anywhere during the race even if his depended on it. At world champs the guys race for top positions 1-3 and maybe to score a couple of UCI points after those positions, who cares about 39th place? really! Get with the program
  9. My money is certainly not on DG for the hillclimb. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> He is a good rider allright, but there is loads of ?good riders? like him. RH is the only guy that has prodused a massive result (TDF stage win and Tour of Spain stage win) amongst all the top riders in the world. Commonwealth Games medals get some credit but the Euro?s are not there? and malaysia is at the beginning of the season when all the Europeans are still coming out of winter training.
  10. Goes to show you value your time....... you drove to five yes five different shops to find it was cheaper... work out the logic you spent +half a day, wasted your money on petrol and car expenses to save 50rand.... you plonker, still cheaper in the LBS, and you didnt buy. What does it say about you? Absolutly right why a local bike shop should charge more, they employ staff, hold stock and waste their time serving your stupid ass You dont value your time....
  11. Mountainclimber, I'm shocked by your petulance and ignorance. You should denounce the cheats.... there is no room left in the sport for cheats the last ten years have proved that the public as I see it see no merit in the clean riders attempts to race clean when you openly say it will increase the teams popularity.wake up man. My god do you honestly believe that cheating is ok? DO YOU HONESTLY THINK THAT ROBBIE HUNTER would have won a stage in the tour if things stayed the same? Wake up to reality, if you were a rider who was about to raced clean and got beaten by a rider doping and took your glory from you how would you feel? How will our sport ever change when your remarks are as thoughtless as this?
  12. The article states that he has been linked with a VERBAL agreement, in no way does it describe how he has been SIGNED by Barloworld. I think it would be a complete disaster for the team, the cheaters should not be allowed back into the sport. every rider from the last 7 years with the exception of Lance has been implicated in a drugs affair that finished on the podium in the tour. Send the message out clear and sweet 1. if your going to cheat, you'l get caught, we dont want to watch you race 2. if you do cheat and get caught, we dont want to watch you race again 3. if you show up and expect respect, then find another sport 4. if you mislead the public with your preformances you have no business on our TV screens again, on resuts sheets or newspaper articles. 5. cheats should be made wear a jersey different colour to their teammates which denotes their past infringements
  13. Under all circumstance, and providing you weigh sub 75kgs there is no wheel on the market that can beata mavic Ksyerium. Weights a bit more tha the zipp lasts far longer, The hubs are bullet proof and the rims indestructible. I challenge anyone to prove different.... Shimano suck.... Rims are durable and strong but the hubsare sh*te Zipp are just too expensive although it must be said there fast
  14. Take the oozie from your safe.....bring it to work .... in the words of the mighty Arnold Swazanigger.... " eat this Mother F*cker" open up the oozie and the deadly virus will be eliminated as will most of your collegues... but at least the virus will be contained
  15. Thanks Widgit, tend to Agree with you, Mr Mclean is without doubt the man that makes it marketable, he is very professional forward thinking. I would say that the others built the wheels, he makes them turn. The Beneke's are also excellent
  16. The Awards championed those curent crop of individuals who right now are the current news headline makers. Who is, was, has been the the most significant contributer to the growth and cycling in South Africa? What have they done to make the sport better? in a positive way?
  17. Well Bobb...easy Tiger In the first place, it is not ucommon for the girls to be up there in the mens race at Bakwena, Anke Erlank finished 9th overall in the same race couple of years ago, ahead of Nic White and lots of elite riders. Cherise Taylor is a good rider and the next best (and only) excitement in womans cycling and good for her, but as it showed once again today she has a long way to go!
  18. Cherise Taylor won't win, she's talented but simply not good enoug. Maybe Marissa, if she is allowed to race. My money is on Anriette.
  19. What was Douglas Ryder thinking!? <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Launching his new super duper ladies when they are all (bar Chrissie Viljoen) still under contract. AND the girls being so gullible, even though they were warned not to by their existing sponsors, just too happy to hop on stage for a bit of press and pressure from Douglas. Now half of them might not be able to race tomorrow. Great start <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Douglas!!!
  20. I suspect the game to be close .......but if England take out Habanna and Johnny Wilkinsons boot puts a few BETWEEN THE POSTS then what will be the outcome My predictions South Africa 21 England 24
  21. Ladies are getting paid between 10 and 12K a pop, I wonder what is David George's rate per Km?
  22. Analyser I was comenting on your negative sentiment to the ladies and U23's rather than your indifference to the SACF. its easy to blame the SACF, but I would rather you make constructive criticism then point blank blame the system. Everyone needs to be accountable. SACF riders management. Dont shoot down people who give their time and effort to represent their country. Seems to me your f**ked if you do hung draw and quatered if you dont.
  23. Analayser...... analyse this. Your a complete fool. Another rare breed of clown with no obvious understanding of bike racing. Not only does your inclination to offer comments of this nature show complete ignorance as well as complete lack of any understanding of the level competition it also suggest that you as clearly have marked yourself a half wit capeable of slinging sh*te from behind your keyboard ignorant to the fact that you are unashamedly not an ANALYASER but a begrudger. The South Africans preformed well given that they dont compete on this level week in week out. Peter Velits recently won a Pro Tour event outfoxing some of the biggest names in he sport. It is incomprehendable that a rider can lift their game to this level when week in week out. South African riders ride 100km fun rides, look at the distance 133km in the womens event and 177 in the mens There is no point a pointing the finger at the riders. SACF must rectify the race situation for the top atheletes to preform at the highest level. The average speed is faster in and 60km+ longer.... Look at Chris Froom, he rode a great race 21st I think, he has raced overseas for most of the year,
  24. this is great news for SA AND AFRICA, chris froom is a genuine nice guy with a killer streak and Daryl will be just like mark cavindish in 08.... well done boys, This clearly means Malcolm will be at the head of affairs again in SA as microsoft new "king to the throne" has abdicated his pursuit of his reign for the foreseable future
  25. Its friday night.... the fire is roaring, i've invited lots of hotties around and the booze is flowing, I got some cool sounds pumping out on my JML's this is going to be a late one.... struck the deal of my life and I'm GOING TO CELEBRATE. Everyone is grooving and over there in the corner the first hint that spring is in the air! wow, words cannot describe it! tall blonde, great body, cracking..... phew! Looks like tonight is going to run into tomorrow.... Will keep you posted.....
