  1. Drongo, dont call me SON!! Take me seriously, I am not inferior to you!! Pieter,Where is that race, thats the kind of price i want to see. mtbee, Lower the price, up the entries. Simple logic, studied in a silly BA.
  2. I am not canoeing due to time constraints, to clear that up. Student cards are not easy to fake. I'm studying architecture, known for its work load being huge. I cant remeber who said it, but studying isnt 30 000 for 4 years, its around 30 000 a year, cant expect parents to pay that and all your other expenses. Some people who arent in the situation wont understand. But i am glad to see some people are agreeing with me. I get the feeling that students arent being taken seriously because people feel we ae still wet behind the ears. THERE IS NO TIME FOR A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, as said before.
  3. haha, tumbleweed, be honest, it was easy.. Carpet, ' I know these things, i just dont feel the race fee's are justified.
  4. A student can only get a job if they are studying something silly like a BA or something. All students have student cards, one would just need to present that, and yes i have seen how the races are organised "from the other side" and i know that the rate can be cheaper. I have no time for a student job, even in the holidays we get projects. The times are changing. Entering the Dusi, a 3 day canoe race from PMB to DBn, is only like R300 for students, if that, it is far more worthwhile and the price is justified. You get food, beer, powerade, t shirts, thousands of free samples, amazing girls to welcome you at the end and a prepared route like none other. CSA has to wake up in life, and the race organisers.
  5. How is one supposed to enjoy riding when entrance fee's are so high, fair enough if you are working, but as a student there is no way i can afford your ridiculous prices. In the canoeing world there is a special fee for students, less than half. So, if i live in the East of Joburg and want to do a race, i have to drive atleast an hour each way to where ever the race might be, the whole race could end up costing me around R300 all in all, if not, MORE. Do you think student have that kind of money to throw away, i can go to groenkloof and ride to my hearts content and it will only cost me like R100 including travels, and the routes there are probably better than your race routes.. Someone please sort something out, i beleive you may be chasing riders away that might actually have true potential.
  6. I am yet to find a bike with such nice geometry and specs for such a good price!!
  7. Great idea!!! =)
  8. oh and i was asked about mt bike at the scene by the one guy and didnt answer properly, its absolutely amazing!!
  9. Lesson learnt!!!=)
  10. Got a SB ventura, nothing comes close in terms of value for money, and it feels so much better when u pass a guy on his s-works!! On a serious note, absolutely nothing wrong in almost a year except for folding the wheel in half, but that was my fault cos i thought i was a dare devil. haha. replaced with mavics.
  11. So yesterday i was having a lekker ride with my mate, really pushing it because we were pushed for time. Anyway, i got a puncture and didnt have a pump on me although i did have a tube, so as soon as i realised i had a flat i looked up and saw a guy there and just asked if he had a pump, and he did. but it didnt end there, my tube in my bag had 2 holes in it, so i was considering i LONG walk back when this other guy stops to help and ends up giving me his only spare tube!! These guys are such legends!!! But it didnt end there, about 1km from the end, another blowout!!!! so i thought stuff that im just gonna run, but along the way i got offered yet another tube!!! i didnt take it cos i was right there, but its the thought that counts!!! Groenkloof is filled with helpful people, really makes the mtb community alot tighter!!! HUGE THANKS (Im sure u guys are on the hub)
  12. Scott, without a doubt!!!!

  15. I experinced the same thing, although i dont think it was as deep at the time. my partner behind me shouted "carful its deep" just before i went in, made it to the other side and alot of mud got cleaned off my bike! SCORE! haha was classic.
  16. Thanx guys. Yea may be the chain, but the guy sevicing it at the lbs shoulda picked that up dont u think? just has the hanger replaced cos i snapped it (while in the lead of an adventure race)!!! but anyway.. any suggestions on what to do? *** out the lbs owner?
  17. Hi Guys So i got and old Trek that was my bike before i purchased a new one and my one mate is currently using it to see if he'd like to get into the sport. But THE GEARS WONT STOP SLIPPING on any incline he goes on, no matter what gear. And its not even when he's changing gears on the incline, its just normal riding. Took it to a guy in pretoria, got it back and nothing has changed. (he is close to a near death experience cos he charged me R500 and did JACK S#*T!!! HELP GUYS Sweet!=)

    Mtb Shoes

    What i was thinking of doing is finding a few options on the net, and then going to the lbs and trying them on, then ordering the ones i fancied.

    Best Place to buy mtb shoes? Racing quality. Online or at the LBS? Chain Reaction? Buycycle? Got a connection in the US. Any good online stores delivering in america?
  24. Nice bike, take it for a spin. bikes ride differently now then they did when ur mongoose was made.
  25. Just this sunday i took my 2010 silverback to groenkloof, and there was a 35 year old smarty pnts on his expensive S-WORKS, full sus (I got a hardtail). And i ate him for breakfast.. So does a certain floor in geometry make such a difference?? i dont think so! ITS ALL IN THE LEGS.
