  1. Looks like a bad case of the Myxozoans dude. http://www.qm.qld.gov.au/Find+out+about/Animals+of+Queensland/Parasites/Animal+parasites/Myxozoans+in+fish#.UswDhPQW2Ag
  2. Only in Australia would 108kmh be considered too fast. Come drive home on the N12 on a Friday evening to see what too fast is. Then there is of course the fact that if you are driving too slow and disrupting the traffic you are more of a danger to other road users than those driving 'too fast'.
  3. Define 'work'...
  4. Depends where they are sourcing them - Bronkhorstspruit or Spain. Check the "Product of ..." on the label.
  5. So I made some Mac Nut butter yesterday. The prices for processed Mac Nut butter are hectic. Chucked a bunch of broken mac nuts and some salt in a food processor and 5mins later, this is what I have. It is a bit gritty - but that may be due to rocksalt that I ground in? Has anyone else tried this. While grinding it up, I tasted as it went - it sure is satiating..
  6. Otherwise known as 'Unidentified Drinking Injuries' when you wake up the next day and can't workout where all the cuts, scrapes and bruises came from...
  7. And I thought it was only the old GT's that used to break. Bit surprised by the Pyga break - that broke at the weld. Ali can be a problem with cracking because of the changes due to heat - it can break next to the weld but the last place it should break is at the weld. C'mon Pat, pull it together mate.
  8. Gave the RMR fat shake a go this morning - can't say I notice much diff in taste / texture from HT's. I suppose the only real diff is changing coconut cream for the coconut oil. Maybe a bit less concentrated. It does make a big shake tho - 400 odd mls. Did anything ever come of the bulk Crede oil purchase?
  9. Maybe have a look at the LCHF thread - there is mounting evidence that the 'healthy heart diet' is anything but. http://www.thehubsa....fat-diet-ver-2/ Also follow @ProfTimNoakes on twitter for info on what is actually heart healthy. Rgds Dave on
  10. Where is this?
  11. Not for me it's not... feels like I'm going to blow a foofie valve... RHR 38 - 40ish. Max: In theory (calc'd by Polar: 171) but I don't think I've ever seen much more than the high 160's in any race.
  12. Well, he uses Karvonen which means Zone 5 for me is 158bpm. I can juuuust hit this, but I probably vary 154 - 158. Without race conditions, or I suppose some form of competition, it's pretty hard to get into zone 5 let alone stay in zone 5 for 4 mins. Will give the butternut / pumpkin thing a go the night before commuting in and see how it goes. Last night we had a full on LC meal - I quite regularly cook gems / butternut / pumpkin to give the family a break, so may well have had those before the other rides where I did not struggle with HIT.
  13. So I've started on Mike Posthumous's HIT training plan. 80% at Zone 1 or 2 (i.e. fast enough not to fall over but not much more, 20% (6 x 4mins ) at Zone 5 (as hard as you can go plus a bit.) This morning I got to about 3.5 of the 6 x 4 and the wheels fell off. I had a very disturbed night (as only those with sick kids can know) but I'm not sure it was just due to lack of sleep. I suspect that HIT needs some carb supplementation. Can anyone help me out with personal experience? The strange thing is that I've done the 6 x 4's before with no problems and no carb supplementation. Same situation - commute home in Zone 2 in the evening and then HIT on the way back to work.
  14. HTOne will be able to point you in the right direction.
  15. Just an observation - I don't get the 'feeling fantastic' thing - what I get is the 'feeling horrible' when I have a carb attack. For me, it's not so much the positives of LF that works for me, as much as the negatives of HC. That said, I do have way more energy and motivation to do stuff when I'm properly LC. Was considering ditching the LC thing for Christmas (going to have extended family around which is always a problem) but had a HC weekend laaast weekend combined with pizza on the Tuesday and felt horrible for the rest of the week. I don't know how carb intolerant I am, but I am definitely not tolerant to wheat.
  16. How'd it taste? Keep meaning to buy some coconut cream(milk?) but never seem to remember...
  17. No mate, I'm way off you - number 9 currently...
  18. HR on the training peaks site...
  19. Ok, I've been through the book. It's great. Not just recipes but a whole lot of lchf related info too. Recipes are good and can be modified according to what is available. Can recommend it.
  20. I had a reasonable 94.7mtb but a k@k road race. I see that my TSS for the mtb was higher that the road - 310 vs 285. Anyone else get a higher TSS for the mtb or was I just 'off' on the road ride?
  21. We've got a teenager and 3 y.o. twins. One keeps you awake late, the other wakes you up early. We're shattered and can't wait for the Christmas holidays. Means that evening time reading is not high on the list of priorities! I've only paged through the first part of the book. The recipes are in the second part, and I only got to the first one which was the fat shake and I got so excited I put the book down and typed the post above. The book looks good, the few recipes I did look at look like they are worth knowing - courgettes used for noodles etc. That type of thing is worth knowing and you just need to pick up a couple of useful standbys to add to your armory to make the book worth getting. Unfortunately they've gone for a very artistic look with the typeface and it makes the reading just a little bit hard. Black and white aerial may be less trendy, but it's easy to read. Esp. for tired folk. I'd get it. Looks well worth it. I'm going to take it on holiday and make good use of it.
  22. Oh nice. It's my first kick-butt race of the year to get me out of Christmas sloth. And it does that quite well...
  23. Bottom line is that until you've had kids you know nothing.
  24. I've never had a problem with heat, but I grew up in hot places. Try training in hot conditions - be sensible - take water, take it easy. You're not going to get used to racing / riding in hot conditions if you don't actually do it. I suspect it won't take long to get some tolerance. I seem to remember that they conditioned raw miners by having them step on and off benches in a sauna type effort for an hour three times over three days and that made a big difference. Maybe someone from the mining industry can supply facts? But, one thing I do know is that if you avoid training in heat, you ain't gonna get conditioned to it.
