  1. Pro Wrestling does alright!!! I mean, its fake and you have to be blind not to see the drugs...
  2. Who remembers Laurent Jalaberts crash with the copper?! That was also bad...by the time the cameras got down to him, his face had swollen up like football!!!
  3. Ok...I've decided. Legalise the doping Jenna Lea. Thats my opinion. Its going to give a little control to an out of control problem. Thats my 2c worth
  4. OMG...Is that you EPOH? Stieler Van Heerden? You set him up? So you of all people know he wasnt selling?? I'm shocked...
  5. IanJ..."some of them?" Boy have I some stories for you regarding the Vets Cats.
  6. Who is EPOH? I remember Chunky at 18yo, 65kgs beating Malcolm in road races. So in my books, thats quite an accolade. Ever done that EPOH?
  7. You know what, Chunky does not hide anything. I wish we could say the same of our cycling hero's.
  8. True Chunky. But I feel a lot of the people on the Hub clearly have sod all idea about cycling. The wear the lycra, but it does not make them 'cyclists' God of doping?? Hell...come up with something original. I laugh at just how many people point at Chunky...but know him personally as well. Sad B@$tards...
  9. Legalise it, it will be safer. The doping in the peleton is rife, and we fool ourselves by saying it doesnt happen. Someone pointed out that the test is behind the drug. Very true, and the two seem to go hand in hand. As for disallowing Doctors, and only allowing WADA doc's...bad idea. Remember, corruption exists anywhere. Eliminate the need for it...and it will dissapear. They will never be able to curb doping. Mechanics and bikes yes, but never doping.
  10. And it still has a corkscrew!!! Amazing!!
  11. Oh...and for the record, I'm not just a trackie!! I have won many road races...and competed at world road champs as well!! But I know nothing about Mountain Biking
  12. There are so many sports involved in doping. But cycling has become the poster child of doping. But cheating takes on all forms...when Chunky went to the World champs in 1992, a young female rider 'failed' the femininity test!!! (he had nothing to do with that by the way!!) People will go to any length possible to win. Sadly its in our nature to be competitive. I'm just glad we dont have to still compete naked in the Olympics!!
  13. Look, I do not for one second think that doping is correct. I'm not an idiot. But there is absolutely no way of stopping it now. WADA and the like are spending vast sums of money on testing. But the guys using are way smarter. SwissVan, I agree with what your saying. But it remains a hypothetical question. Just like this one, who would win the Tour if everybody rode clean? In my opinion...the exact same guy that would have won it doped. I reckon the playing fields are already level...we just dont dare admit it.
  14. Trackies are no more susceptible to drugs than roadies or MTB riders. Its different drugs that they may use...but they all still use. In fact, I'm pretty confident there have been more road riders caught for use than track riders. But I may be wrong...its happened before. I agree its wrong to dope. Its in contravention to the rules. But I pose you this question... If I could give you a drug that would guarantee you the ability to win the Tour De France and not be in any danger of being caught, would you take that drug?? I would.
  15. But how do we know for sure that drugs harm us? Most of the medicines do have a specific purpose, granted. But they still remain for human use. We have seen lots of examples of where its caused damage. But I reckon there are more cases where it has not. You only complain if your car breaks down...you never complain when its going well!! Personally, I think they should legalise drugs in sport. In a way, It could give the governing bodies more control over it, by ensuring the riders/athletes declare it without fear of punishment. In so doing, they can advise against some drugs if they can see the athlete is considering using them. Cheating it may be, but we cheat with a lot of things and think nothing of it. Cycling is rife with 'borderline' products. We all run out and buy Cytomax, USN products coz we believe its going to give us an added boost. This is exactly the same mindset applied to doping. Scary thing is that the Drs and athletes are a lot smarter than we are aware. I say legalise it.
  16. Firstly, I am British. So that ends that. Ok, here we go... I have tried glues such as Continental, Vittoria, Tubasti and several others. They did not work for me. I found that they did not stick properly. The Tubular was easy to remove, and on 2 occassions I rolled a tubular with one of these glues mentioned. So I put that down to personal experience. Responsive...this means that the bike moves easier, accelerates quicker and rolls faster when ridden with tubulars. I was once given a Vittoria Corsa CX Open tyre, which was meant to be an equivalent of the tubular version. The ride was very different, between the tubular and the HP it was very noticeable. The Tubular was by far a better ride. As I have said, if they could make a HP that could ride like a tubular, I'd be the first to ride it. But they have not, and the testimony to this is the fact that the top pro's still use tubulars. They are simply better. JB, I accept your points concerning 'pinching'...but not about the tubular being a relic from the 20th century!!!! The wheel has remained the wheel...and the tubular has remained just that. Why? Because they are the best at what they have been designed to do.
  17. I've always said "cyclists dont race in labs, or under test conditions" I would be the first to use clinchers if they rode as well as tubby's. I have some Clement Seta Extra's in my garage. They are specifically for the sprint type events on the track. We knew that whatever times we rode in training on our HP's, we would be MUCH quicker when we put our tubular race wheels on. Its a given. In my opinion, a HP tyre is more likely to come off, or blow under pressure. Its only held in place by the walls of the rim and the pressure against it. But a tubular keeps its shape regardless. And pump it really hard, and it grips even harder. Like you said Bob...some things work better!
  18. Those are awesome pics....
  19. Bob, on the track an HP is a no go. Its slower, and feels dull. A tubular is far more responsive, and when I say that I mean it is quicker, and more manouverable. If clinchers were that good, Mavic and Campagnolo would make clincher disc wheels...
  20. For the first time ever...Bornmann has just set himself up. I'm gonna challenge you Mr Bornmann...do a little research and tell us who was the last rider to win one of these races using High Pressures...Tour De France, Giro D Italia, Vuelta, Milan San Remo, SA road Champs... If what you were saying is in fact true, then why would all the Pro teams waste so much money on Tubulars, when they could use much cheaper reusable Clinchers?? I personally prefer POLIBOND glue...I use a minimal amount as well, have glued them 4hours before I raced I might add...never had a problem. Clement, Vittoria and Conti glue's have never worked for me...
  21. I love those De Rosa's bars!! So nice and neat...finished with black insulation tape!!!!
  22. Point taken Azonic!!
  23. Theres a guy in Meyerton who rides one identical to this!! I'm gonna take a closer look next time!!
  24. Ahh Fiasm...thats a nice dream!! You obviously have not heard SA radio stations?! I've been on a Pearl Jam binge since this thread started all those weeks back!!
  25. I did that once! Last year I posted an ad in the classifieds, and I was inundated with spam. Not funny...I dont need Viagra!!
