I know my mates BMW 320d has been at BMW more than he's been able to drive it. So I would not even consider it myself. Audi are reputably fantastic with their diesel engines. As are Toyota. I just think our car market has gone crazy though. Its just so expensive these days.

Yip, my mistake yet again!! R500k does not get you much, but I was refering to really really basic housing. Thats surely in the half bar region? As for diesels, this time last year I bought a 2year old Land Rover Discovery, the Tdi whatever it was. What a load of rubbish. It broke down on the way from the traffic depot to the dealership! Was a waste of time. But I have heard fantastic things about the Toyota's. Was considering the new C-class CDi, but decided against it. Looks now like I may have made a wise(ish) choice.

I never knew the Golf 3 came in a TDi? Or do i just miss these things?

I have a motorplan, and a friend who is high up in the motor industry told me "use your motorplan. If your car squeaks, send it in" Advice I have used, and its saved me in the past. I was thinking of getting an old 2.4diesel Toyota Hilux from the early '90's! Apparently they run forever? Or do I believe everything I'm told?!

Rolls Royce is made by Germans... Ferrari is owned by Fiat... Land Rover is owned by BMW... At the end of the day, who really cares where its made. Actually, I've seen many a Fiat fall apart. But you rarely see Toyota's dying?! So why should it be the same with the bikes? Afterall, all our BMW's are made in SA? And look at our work force!!!

What I dont understand is how people manage to survive these days. I mean, to buy a house you have to be making an absolute fortune. And I'm talking 'entry level'...which is what? +-R500k? So the average person has to be making R20k pm + to afford a house?? Am I right? Everything is just too expensive now, and I feel sorry for the people its affecting. Now the diesel? Its what...R8.35 a litre? Whats it going to hit? Almost R10... Where will it end? I have some patients, and they clearly are doing well. A year ago they were sharing a car, now the hubby and wife drive an X5 each. So there are some folk out there with the cash...

I was shocked this weekend. Filled my car up, almost R600! (and that was 95unleaded) Its getting ridiculous. Any forecasts on what to expect over the next few years with regard to the petrol/diesel price? Pantani? Anticlimb?

Both the De Rosa and the Colnago are awesome. I've never ridden DR, but I would consider them. In my opinion, if you go with the others you mentioned, you'll always wonder to yourself "how would that Colnago/De Rosa have ridden?" Thats my opinion...

Hell,its debasing and just plain Nasty when they test you!! I was terrified at first...like Spinnekop said!!! And its amazing just how much fluid the body can take!! But when I finally did "achieve flow" there was no stopping!!! But now I'm a little better...
