  1. He is quite decent at it. His current ELO is Gold 4. His is quite a chilled boy. He does not easily let salty comments get to him, unlike me. In my first PvP game in LoL people were telling me I was gonna get reported for feeding within the first minute.
  2. You don't want to know what I had to do to get my son's Corsair K95 working. He dumped a cup of hot chocolate over it, besides all the bits of chips and cookies to found around the keys. He plays just about only League Of Legends.
  3. I use it moderately, when it actually works. For my Corsair K70 keyboard, the feature is very usefull. My PC is build around the Tron Legacy theme, if only I can get that ASUS Auro Sync to work so that the Mobo and memory RGB play ball to support the theme.
  4. I see there is currently a push back agaist RGB. More and more Blackout components are becoming available. Manufacturers has gone too far with this I believe. I am still trying to get my ASUS Aura Sync not to crash the Lightning Service when I open the app. I have tried everything. And my Corsair iCUE keeps on crashing on Windows shutdown. It's a complete joke.
  5. Threadripper is more about the amount of PCI lanes you get than it is about the core count, although that too is the attraction. And off course you must remember it has quad channel memory access, where Ryzen only has dual channel.
  6. In my dreams also. My own setup is: ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme Alpha mobo Threadripper 2920X CPU with Wraithripper CPU cooler 64 GB of G Skill TridentZ Neo 3600MHz memory 2 X 512GB Samsung 970 Evo m.2 SSD ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1080 Ti GPU Corsair HX1000i PSU Corsair Carbide 540 Air case ASUS ROG Wift PG278QR display I looked at the 3G Threadripper, but just cannot afford it at the moment.
  7. Yup. A custom EKWB solution for my own Threadripper setup is quite tempting. But it is quite costly though. And a hardline installation is not for the faint of heart. Personally I would probably favour a softline setup. This CPU waterblock is probably what I would prefer over the RGB and see through ones. https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-velocity-str4-rgb-full-nickel
  8. I think there is a greater chance for grain tearout when using a belt sander for this.
  9. Yes, that piece of aluminium is quite beefy and has heat conductive material pre-installed for conducting the heat from the drive electronics to the aluminium. But I will monitor the heat there from time to time as I have heard that PCI Gen 4 SSDs get toasty. However, my daughter is not a hardcore gamer (yet), so I doubt she will give the rig a run for it's money.
  10. Also on the B550 motherboards (most of them I think) only the first slot is PCI Gen 4. Not so important for most people that do not use a Gen 4 capable GPU. But then again, most GPUs will never reach the bandwith limit of PCI Gen 4 anyway. Mostly just because of habit.
  11. There is one M.2 PCI Gen 4 SSD under the first piece of aluminium on the mobo. A Sabrent ITB. https://www.wootware.co.za/sabrent-sb-rocket-nvme4-1tb-rocket-1tb-m-2-2280-nvme-pci-e-4-0-solid-state-drive.html
  12. Build done. I could not find the RGB fans I wanted in stock, so the stock case fans will have to do for now. Also used my son's old GTX 960 for now. Will get a RTX 3070 when the prices normalise. And that damn 8 pin CPU cable that is just too short. I hate it when manufacturers don't check that their cables will reach with the PSU in both orientations. I prefer the fan on the top so that it extracts the air from the case, as well as the fact that here in Strand we have lots of dust, especially in summer, so I do not like it when fans pull in air from the bottom.
  13. Just received mail that Loot has shipped the Corsair PSU, and the Corsair 4000D Airflow case was delivered today. So I guess I am building PC this weekend.
  14. I 'might' have found a retailer that still have a Corsair RM750. Let's see if they actually deliver.
  15. So, I am building a new rig for my 12 year old daughter. She is still using my old PC from 2011. Going with ASUS Strix E Gaming B550 mobo, Ryzen 3600 and 1GB Gen 4 nvme drive. Problem is that I am struggling to get the components I want for the rest of the build. It is almost impossible to get a Corsair PSU. Wootware has none and they don't have any idea when they will have. Neither can I get the Phanteks case that I wanted, so I had to fall back to a Corsair case, which is the new 4000D Air case. The whole stock situation is a total clusterfck. As for consoles: we have PS4, but it is gathering dust at the moment. Nobody is using it. All my kids prefer gaming on their PCs. So I am not even gonna bother with the PS5 at all.
  16. The ASUS TUF Gaming 3080 seems to be the best of the 3080 cards at the moment. But local dealers are screwing us royaly. So I will wait and I am quite happy with my 1080Ti at the moment. I would not hold my breath for the AMD Big Navi offerings. AMD always disappoint in the end with their GPU offerings. That is if they are able to even deliver dependable driver software, which they sadly have never been able to pull off with new GPUs.
  17. At those prices they can shove it where the sun don't shine.
  18. Sooo... Who is getting an RTX 3080 tomorrow? I am still quite happy with my ASUS ROG Strix 1080Ti. Got it for R5K from my boet last year.
  19. LOL. Will they over-promise and under-deliver here also?
  20. Yes well. Gives me an excuse to buy a Lie-Nielsen no 8. One day maybe. When I can afford it. Probably when pigs fly.
  21. The Record No 8 I picked up at a second-hand store end up having a crack on one corner of the mouth. So basically not fixable. As soon as a tighten the blade down the crack opens up. Did not see the crack when I inspected it at the store.
  22. And PAR does not mean it is planed square and straigt.
  23. Jirre Myles. Daai bene is darem wit!
  24. They will import pilots from Cuba.
  25. Did a race few years ago starting at Fish Hoek SLSC to around Roman Rock Lighthouse and back. Nice mild Southerly conditions. We found out when we returned there were 3 sightings during the race. Also when I landed I found out I had a nice gash in the hull and I drained almost 20 litres of water from the hull. Must have hit the reef at Roman Rock as I took maybe a too aggressive line around the lighthouse. Could have been fun if my ski eventually collapsed from the weight of the water it was taking in with those monsters swimming about.
