  1. Meurant lost a lot of money with the fires of 2 and 3 years ago that ravaged their trails, especially the Simonsberg trails. The result was a loss in racing numbers. They need our support to get back onto their feet again.
  2. I think they are trying to get the flat route riding crowd to move up and do a route that is slightly more fun and technical, but not as technical and tough as the older 42 and 60km routes. Then next year re-introduce those routes and maybe have more people riding those routes. I rode the 50km flat route the year we went over the Wannabee routes and it was very muddy and boring. Did not do the flat one after that. Not for me. Last year I was out because of busted knee, and the year before that did the 30km flat one with my youngest son.
  3. We are in. Hope it's not too muddy. Already spent way too much on repairs on my son's Scalpel. Latest is that his outer bearing in the free body collapsed again, destroying the whole hub. New hub plus spokes and rear wheel build. Most probably caused by that muddy Spur Schools MTB race at Southies.
  4. Stretch, you might like this...
  5. This is the usual thing that happens when your ex sees that you are moving on with your live and not sitting in a corner crying.
  6. I enjoyed his performance in Fury. Thought it was one of his best performances ever.
  7. Seems you and I did not miss much. Went on a night out with the wife.
  8. At least you did not have to work with punch cards.
  9. I rode over such a massive tail at Helderberg. Was too late to stop, and my brain was too slow to take evasive action. It was greenish brown, fresh out of hibernation. This was early spring last year. Ek bekak my nou eers as ek daaraan dink.
  10. Not this year, with this drought. We had temperatures of between 26 and 30 this past week.
  11. Say whaaaat? My son also rode there on Saturday. If only he knew. I will show him this pic.
  12. Ain't it ever? The only issue she has with me is that I spend my money on too many tools and toys, and not enough on the home. And she says I play too much PC games.
  13. This! I have gone through this so many times. Especially when I know I am right. Then the next morning she would bring me my coffee in bed and apologise. My wife gets tired early at night and usually go to bed early. And when she is tired, she is cranky, and any discussions to solve an issue will just make it worse. You don't wanna stand between my wife and her bed. She loves her sleep.
  14. I got a PS4 for the boys, and they hardly use it. They prefer their PCs for gaming. My daughter use the PS4 to watch DVDs, and maybe play a game now and then.
  15. 15 man rugby has become extremely boring to watch because of all the rules. I certainly don't watch any of the Super Rugby games on TV anymore. Got better things to do. I think a new rule must be made: if you get tackled and the ball touches the ground, then the other team must get the ball. No scrum, nothing. Just tap and go. Maybe then players will learn to pass and run into gaps.
  16. Last night I tried to play WoT. It was a stuff up. My tank was jumping around. You press W, and nothing happens, the tank's wheels just spin, and then suddenly 3 seconds later you are somewhere else. And getting shot to pieces by tanks that are yet to appear on your screen. Not nice.
  17. I am glad I toughed it out for a few years when my wife went off the beaten track. Today I have a partner that I know will stand by me when things go bad. And she is a brilliant riding partner, always supporting and encouraging me when I struggle. And I know that we will have something to do together that is fun when the kids are all out of the house and things get boring. BUT, you have to have the wisdom to know when you have to tough it out through the storm and troubled waters, and when you have to abandon ship because it is on it's way to the bottom.
  18. Ja, I am destructive like that! Just chumming the waters.
  19. Men are men, but when a women have sex with a man, things get very complicated in her brain.
  20. I have had my fill of superhero movies. I want to see something real and of substance.
  21. Thinking of doing the 37km this year. Did the 27km last year.
  22. Strongs for the loss. 17 years is a long innings for a cat. They usually get run over by cars when they are old because they are slower than they think they are.
  23. OK, it seems Rudolph had other ideas. Me and the wife decided to postpone the decision until we had a ride up Helderberg and back this morning. After 7 days of refusing to eat, he started eating this morning when we were back. I also noticed a pitch black watery stool that he left on our driveway with what looked like funny crap in it. My only thinking is that something was obstructing his digestive system, and caused some bleeding. The vet made an educated guess that was wrong. She did suggest tests, but they would have been very expensive and we trusted her educated opinion, and from my research GSD do suffer from various digestive and skin issues, as well as the fact that cancer is a common occurrence amongst them. He ate a lot more during the day, but still refuses to eat his normal dog food. My wife cooked him some chicken and rice, which he ate well. We will monitor the situation this week. He sure looked much better today, even decided to chase our one cat. Sure need some positiveness to break the past 2 weeks negative stuff. If anybody out there had a similar experience with their dogs, please let me know. BTW, Rudolph never eat other crap like plastic and other such stuff. Our Husky does that on a regular basis.
  24. I am having a bad month. Lost my dad last week. 2 days ago my BIL lost his dad to cancer. Tonight I need to make a call on Rudolph, my 7 year old Swiss Shepherd. He has developed an aggressive cancer, and has not been eating the past 7 days. The doc says there is not much we do for him and that he is suffering too much. I will have to decide tonight what we are going to do, but putting him out is the only humane decision. Emotionally I am already tired.
  25. 2 of my favourite tanks are on sale on WoT at the moment.
