  1. Was recently shopping in the same price bracket. There are so many option at that price.
  2. Something must have gone seriously pear shaped in this guys life. I must say I feel sorry for everyone involved here. Obviously the “buyers” who have been done in have suffered a loss, and I hope it’s made right to them. But maybe I am just being naive, but I can’t help but feel sorry for the perpetrator here as well, and his family that have to deal with the embarrassment. I mean he was a member here for years, obviously not very active but he made a few posts, and did a few decent deals over the years. In 2019 he was still in a financial position to be doing bike races and event stage races, and obviously has in the past owned some high end bikes. Fast forward three years and his throwing his reputation away over R7500.00. Something must have gone very badly wrong. But by selling the bike to three different buyers, he has really just made his situation a whole lot worse…. Eish
  3. On the other hand, just imagine the b sample tests negative, and the initial test was a false positive. That would mean flueg missed out on the last half of his season, world champs, and all the potential prize money that goes with it…. Unlikely, but just imagine.
  4. Did he send that to you by mistake? Or was this a conversation with yet another buyer? I’m completely confused now.
  5. Glad to hear you enjoyed. Yes, it’s one hell of a climb from Knysna to Uniondale.
  6. So, has anything been resolved here yet?
  7. Agreed. I think losing Rob on commentary is going to be a sad day for the sport, but I don’t think you can compare the current coverage of EWS to the XCO and Downhill. The EWS coverage could be better, but I don’t think it’s realistic to put together a live broadcast of EWS. You have different riders, in different categories Riding on different parts of a mountain simultaneously. I think it is more suited to the course overview, plus rider interviews, plus highlights package. I think it’s fair to give them a chance first and see what the coverage is going to be like next year. We might be pleasantly surprised. I think at this point the only thing we can be sure of is Super Sport will make a ballsup of distributing it in South Africa, because it pays more to show re-runs of sundowns playing against chippa unt from six seasons ago.
  8. Each to their own I guess. I enjoy the energy rob brings to it. If its not your cup of tea, then hopefully you enjoy whoever the replacement is. Andrew was a decent rider, but I can’t say I know what his commentary sounds like. What I do know is whoever did Supersports commentary of the world champs two weeks back was absolutely shocking, they managed to turn what was an exciting race, into a snoozfest. I switched over to a VPN to watch on Red Bull halfway through the race.
  9. If your riding with family, does it really matter, as long as your having fun? 😁 I agree with the above though, Moving time is what counts from a training point of view? When I was still a student and living at home, this was also something I faced a lot when riding with my parents. A good idea is that instead of waiting, ride to the top of the hill, then turn around, ride down to catch up with them, and then take it easy at their pace the second time around, or just sprint to the top again, rinse and repeat. I would often clock 15 to 20% more distance than them over the same amount of time, and you will get a lot fitter faster…
  10. I am the one who suggested that people must be getting kickbacks. It was said tongue in cheek and I thought it came across as such. I stick to the rest of my post in that other thread. A “cheap” Titan is not the solution to every “What bike should I buy” question. In that thread they were looking for a bike for a 150kg 6 foot something behemoth, suggesting a relatively entry level bike of any brand was not the solution there. Titan or other. In this thread OPs situation, an affordable Titan might actually be a great option.
  11. The UCI gave it to themeselves, last time I checked they were kind of in charge… I’m also sad and it was a great show the past few years, but ten years is a good run. As far as I can tell, Red Bull did tender for the new contract, but the UCI chose Discovery Networks over them, and a host of others. I do think people are worrying for nothing though. In all likelihood, there will still be free coverage like there is now, but it will just be run through GMBN (playsports network, who runs GCN/GMBN/GTN etc is owned by Discovery). They already provided the coverage of EWS for free on GMBN, and part of the changes coming next year is to align EWS more with other UCI MTBing events. Will miss Rob on commentary though. He has been fired from GMBN once before, so not sure if they will have him back.
  12. Yoh, that’s being a bit dramatic. Three fractured vertebra, and he will be in a neck brace for three months and most likely will need to have a fusion of sorts. so technically p, yes a broken neck. But important to add context to that post
  13. Is there a world ranking specifically for marathon? I tried finding it on uci website, but it just gives the XC Overall rankings. Marathon worlds is going to be good this year I think.
  14. And is 100% gravel bike friendly
  15. Here is the route you want to do. Avoids any dodgy areas Uniondale to Knysna.gpx
  16. It does seem pretty legit. And if your shipping within Europe it should be simple enough to sort out any issues if there are. the website doesn’t set off any red flags. It has a physical address, they take payment via credit card. I think you are safe
  17. Perhaps, but it’s not that much of a stretch to assume they are spending a lot more time on rollers, or training on the road, and therefore technical skills in MTB do slip a little
  18. That is pretty impressive. It’s definitely on my shortlist now
  19. 1. Should read: Was a pretty decent fork back in 2013 when it was launched, but is probably now in need of a complete rebuild.
  20. Stolen: Merida Race Lite 903 2013 When: 08/08/2022Where: Firgrove Rural, Cape Town, Western CapeGet further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.
  21. Don’t try be clever here now, this is South Africa, a bum in the air, slammed stem XC bike is all you ever need. Preferably in the lightest carbon fibre possible. 140mm travel is absurd, and why on Earth would you ever want to raise the handlebars man. Come on. Ger with the program… (all said in jest)
  22. Yeah, the stabilisation is definitely not on par… but this is being filmed into the sun, and obviously no Color correction done in post editing of the video, so not completely terrible. I am going to get one, and try it out for b roll shooting, and using mounted on tripod etc, so basically fimling from a stationary spot, and keep the 8 for body or bike cam footage
  23. Which brand is the one you bought. If I where to get one, I was considering volcano, sinch there speakers etc are not too bad compared to the real deal. Also played around with a volkano drone a while ago and it wasn’t completely rubbish. do you maybe have a link to a YouTube vid filmed with your camera?
  24. Im by no means a fanboy, but Nino is impressive to watch, his dominance by ni means makes the racing boring. Pidcock put in a really impressive race, and had some bad luck in the trees, twice, and Sam Gaze was also looking impressive till he crashed out, but that’s racing. Serrano was impressive, but just didn’t have what it took to keep up with Nino at the finish. Nino is the 10x world champ because he dominates in terms of fitness, technical riding ability and tactics/strategy. I think he is allowed to be a little bit full of it.
  25. Yeah, but apparently we should have been hoping for some one else to win, it’s what the cool kids are doing…
