  1. I get it would be very scary, but I don’t understand why this step is required. Surely it just gives real bad guys a chance to make themselves scarce. If a bad guy is called in to the cop shop and told what he is being investigated for and signs to acknowledge it, before being sent on his way, he then knows what tracks to cover and would probably go on the lam.
  2. Really? This makes very little sense. Would that not just give the criminal a heads up, so they can get their ducks in a row and get off the grid? Seems a bit silly.
  3. I bought one a few years ago. Still going strong. Its a great commuter bike for around town. Very “simple” low maintenance and well put together. I see they have tourer bikes now with claris gear sets and an e-bike model in the works. Glad to see a small local business growing like this. Im very happy with mine
  4. Exactly, but doubt any of this will be done. Just like the stolen bike thread posted yesterday. Bike was found on Facebook marketplace and pointed out to the OP, who has yet to provide any sort of feedback as to what happens next.
  5. There is no excuse in this day and age to not have results available in near real time.
  6. So is there an event recap out yet?
  7. I just had a quick look and can’t find one, but if there is another thread please shut this one down. Just thought would be cool to have a build up thread for everyone riding wine 2 whales this year, talk about your prep, ask questions if you are unsure and looking for advice etc.
  8. Maybe it’s time to do a ZWIFT season on PUBG
  9. Seriously? You had to go out and buy a gauge to figure this out? You couldn’t just give the tire a squeeze and realise it’s too flat? I hardly ever use a gauge on my bike tires, just feel them and decide if they need more or less air. I must say I’m pretty surprised by all of you running such low pressures though. 1.4-1.6 bar, I would be wrecking my rims. I only go that low if I’m riding on the beach. How do you keep the tires from rolling off the rim at those pressures? On my lightest days, I’m still on the wrong side of 98kgs….
  10. If you want to know what shafting really looks like, do yourself a favour and scroll through the www.rentoza.co.za website. The monthly rental fees on their devices blows my mind. Why would anyone get a phone or something through them.
  11. Agreed. Definitely value in adding motorsports. Garmin and Suunto already have these as options when you log on the device, so it could be picked up automatically by strava too. Okes who think enduro motorbikes aren’t a workout don’t know what they talking about. I have never been as broken and exhausted after an ride as when I still did enduro - as in motorbike enduro.
  12. Yeah, but your heart rate and power meter requirement for leaderboards would nullify that. That is why I think all they need is a simple algorithm, that flags flagrantly superhuman performance automatically. The user flagging system is sufficient to deal with the odd anomaly that will then slip through the cracks.
  13. There are downhill KOM segments too where power data is a lot less relevant than technical ability. Very few trail bikes and downhill bikes have power meters fitted, so that is a very elitist roadie approach…. I have 2 Koms, and not one of them logged with power meters, but they are gravity focused.
  14. The X-Fusion is actually in my opinion a much better fork than the Judy. But again I think it comes down to marketability. The average buyer would automatically assume the rock shox fork is an upgrade. If I'm not mistaken the X-Fusion was a 32mm fork, and it's really good at the price point. Judy is 30mm and really not great once they stretch it above 100mm. I rode a 130mm Judy on a loaner bike a while ago for a weekend, and it was terrible.
  15. I flag a, few, but it's not as if strava makes it easy, will do a few more this afternoon. It was obvious this was being done in cars, becasue not even e-bikers could pull up those times. But I mean, if you know you logging rides for strava, how hard is it to just pause your watch or head unit for the shuttles. Surely strava can use some of the money they getting from subscriptions and employ some developers to work on an algorithm to automatically flag superhuman performances.
  16. I think it’s safe to assume that just because he rides for a boutique brand, does not imply that the team is underfunded and does not pay their top riders on par with other teams. Seems to be a pretty cutting edge company, and with all development and manufacture taking place in Switzerland, possibly one of the most expensive countries on earth to manufacture, I don’t think they are short on cash. But I’m starting to figure out there are a handful of people on here that know everything about everything, and everyone else is automatically wrong. So I’m done for the day. Off to ride my bike instead.
  17. That was exactly where I got my results from. Considering we are referring to a top ranked rider in mens XC, who was in contention for the World Cup overall before his suspension, I think it’s fair to assume he is in the top 5% of earners, putting him close to the 500k figure.
  18. SX is a branding/marketing marvel from SRAM. To the uninformed, it looks pretty much the same as GX, and the you think you getting a deal on a 12 speed drivetrain. The reality is SX is on par with Shimano’s Alivio type group sets, Shimano just doesn’t bother with 12 speed on their cheap plastic stuff. Anything below GX I would far rather go for Plain old Deore. Shimano drivetrains are so much better at the lower end of the market. From GX/XT level it’s more about personal preference.
  19. Is strava cheating now the new norm? Or did all of these folks just forget their GPS on while in the car and not notice when it synced to strava….. top 20 plus results on a category 4 climb are all well over 45km/h
  20. R35k gets you the Dash Alloy. With a RS Judy fork at 120mm (it’s okay in 100mm guise, but too flexy at 120), which is pretty poor, and an SX cheap as chips plastic drivetrain…. At that price point used just makes so much sense. You could easily get a 1 to 2 year old bike with decent forks and a proper drivetrain, like GX or XT. Might need a new chain and cassette, but that’s kind of irrelevant because you would be changing the SX components for new ones pretty quickly anyway. now, before I get lynched, I think titans are great, and I think their top end models are amazing value. But at R35k, you can do better elsewhere.
  21. Cool, since you obviously have more accurate data, why not let us know? Is it closer to 1mil, or closer to 100k? All good and well calling me out on the inaccuracy of my Google search (which included verified prize pots for the WC races)
  22. Very quick google search will give you an idea. Official UCI prize money for World Cup podiums in 2018 (safe to assume it’s increased slightly), was 2333Eur for first place. Now that’s not a fortune, compared to road cycling or golf, but it’s still not bad as a bonus to your salary of around 500k Eur per year. But remember, not winning, or not racing and not being on the podium is about a lot more than just the prize money. There are major incentive bonuses from sponsors for these things. I would imagine under a suspension, all the sponsor endorsement incentives fall away….so it is obviously very damaging to his earning potential for this season, if it’s a false positive or abnormal result, which it more and more is seeming to be, based on what he tested positive for, and what the levels were. chances are most of us have higher levels of zeronal based on the amount of feedlot beef we consume in SA
  23. Lekker video of the GOAT in better times earlier in the season, although it is a bit of a plug for the SC E-Bike.
  24. I understand that is what happened in the past, but like I said, accepting only card payments is an od MO then. There is no way to duck the paying back. If they don’t provide the service, the card issuer refunds the client, and automatically claws back the money from business. They also have very strict fraud controls and will shut down a merchant that tries something funny very quickly. EFT/e-wallet/cash send etc are all easy to get away with, but you can’t dodge Visa and Mastercard. Which is why it’s the only way I will pay for anything online. I’m not defending anyone, but the suggestion was made we spam him with fake bookings. I was going to try, and then realised it won’t be possible, because they only accept card payments.
