  1. Anybody have an experience of Hutchinson Topspeed? My Hutch equinox's need replacing and I'm told these are better. There's a winter model (is that europe / us??) and an all-round race/training tyre. thoughts?

    ouch

the second pic looks like an intentional attempt at a somersault. with an unsuccessful attempt at finishing in an upright-continue-riding-position

I can relate to wher bush1 is coming from ... as a weightweenie (I thought that was clever so I put it in) it's often difficult to stick with a group on some of the fast flats. If you're on the tail you have to work incredibly hard to close the gap if the bunch surges (or if a split occurs and you want to get across.) For me, it's just those extra 2kgs that I desire in order to have a better "rolling momentum" (coupled with the leg strength of course)

a double-serving of morvite for breakast
  5. May I recommend cable-ties for keeping your rear-wheel secure on the long drives ... Nice work Northcliff Cycles ... I've never visited the shop but I think it's about time I changed that ...
  6. Good to see the numbers growing ... even I recognise some of the faces - plenty of non-hubbers. I might show up when there's more place to hide.
  7. I use Arnica - pro's 1. It makes your legs shiny 2. It's a great barrier against the cold 3. You slide better when you crash 4. It helps rub some heat into the muscles before you pedal (I have a 1.5km uphill start everytime I go to meet the club) 5. It aids muscle repair con's 1. It makes your legs shiny 2. It gets on your hands 3. People don't always know what it is and they think you only use it cos it makes your leges shiny
  8. Sportron (Berry) - for all distances.
  9. Boyes Drive instead of Main Rd, and Ou Kaapse instead of Chappies this will make the pro's ride more interesting ... ... and give me an excuse for not finishing with the bunch
  10. I've jumped with guys wearing shorts / t-shirts before, but jumping bear-foot - (the middle jumper) - I don't see the logic.
  11. Thoughts and prayers my buddy - from the entire JHB - Durban 2005 SAB Cansa Tour team
  12. I've had my SRAM Force for over a year
  13. Any idea on the price and (more importantly) the weight of the Aero frame?
  14. I have a set of these on my 'goose. Great rims but I must be honest - I really struggled to get the tyres (kenda) on and off - I'm still not sure if it was the tyre, the rim or the combination
  15. DMT's for me ...
  16. Ta. I'm collecting (another) bike from there during the week anyway. An MTB this time. Had to have the middle blade replaced after someone tested it's strength against a curb whilst practising a bunny hop - the fun never ends (Hog and Holly - "The Fisher" is available again if you need a spare for the mine dumps - I might join you one day. The pics of the group ride on the other thread look great.)
  17. At the moment he's still a colleague .... not sure how much time needs to pass until the friendship/mate thing materialises Dude' date=' you lent him your bike, we just assumed then... I mean would you lend out your wife to just anyone? [/quote'] TNT1 - Go Away .... this is not a thread for you to hi-jack. If you read the thread probably, you would notice I said it was my choice and therefore my risk. Ask those who know me - I do this because I'm passionate about the sport and growing it. I will continue to do so. Unrelated comments, no matter how witty they might be to you (particularly if you mention my wife) are not welcomed. cyclenut2008-09-29 02:58:35

  19. I just bought the cranks (105) off the hub to finish the bike build (specialised). I'd never even ridden the bike Won't be sending him the invoice. It's my choice, therefore my risk.
  20. So I lent two road bikes to a colleague for him and his fiance to make a decision about getting into road riding. They had the bikes for 6 weeks (as agreed). I got them back last week and went to put the original pedals back on (he used their MTB pedals) only to find that in putting on his pedals he delicately managed to cross-thread all four cranks .... yes, all four Is this a quick fix from the LHS (local hardware store) or do I need to run the bikes to the LBS What's the probability of changing the diameter (post re-threading) - will it dramatically affect the fit of new pedals (it's my fault for assuming that because he had a pedal spanner at home he had sufficient knowledge to complete the job.)
  21. Shamus - you say "almost everything you need" what's missing ??
  22. the offending rut from which he tried to turn out of - bad idea ... straight over the bars and landed on his head. Is that the rut just after the little bridge at the start? Off Devonshire road? See the problem with half-front-flips is that you normally end up upside-down. Please tell him in future to rather do a three-quaters-front-flip or a full-front-flip. Not only do they impress the ladies much more that the half-front-flip' date=' but you tend to use a lot less helmets. [/quote'] It's the section between linden and victory park. Gnarly has very kindly agreed to sponsor the next helmet
