  1. You're welcome to pass my number around. I'm just not available Sunday morning. Back from the club ride tomorrow just after 11am. I'm going to dig for a pair of size MTB shoes for Shaun to wear - I think I only have roads in that size - I know I'm still have a pair of size 9's out on loan somewhere. The point being - if I don't have size 8's at home, I'll put flat pedals on ...

  3. medscheme .... they've been sponsoring races, coverage and a bunch of other cycling-related initiatives ... next step - a team -- they have the budget.
  4. Hog - you have my details. Can collect tomorrow as near to 12 as possible or will have to make Sunday afternoon. Enjoy the ride guys and gals
  5. HR - I can't make this ride - would have been good for us to finally meet. I have a spare MTB if you're in need (Medium Size Gary Fisher). (Will need to arrange collection for tomorrow / Sunday afternoon and you can keep it for a week or so. I'm in Fourways.)
  6. Is that a Vets pro team ...... or a Pro vets team ??

  10. and cocaine is a good masking agent for ....
  11. It's interesting that this happens when there's power applied to the non-drive side. JB - I'm being more inquisitive than suggesting this to be incorrect. Once the original problem is solved perhaps you could revisit this and provide a comment.
  12. Struggling to get your heart rate up? option 1 = you're very fit option 2 = your overtrained

  14. Nice work Admin
  15. Thanks for the comments Holy .... (?) It's like saying that stealing a pen is different from stealing a car, using the justification that "my sin is not as bad as his sin" is not an excuse. Analogy: Do you not DQ someone in race because they only went 1 foot over the white line whereas someone else went 3 feet over line? Skye's point is this - Some of the avatars and postings cross the line for a cycling forum - it doesn't matter how far across the line ...
  16. Well said Skye. There has been a lot of debate around religion lately, so IMHO I think the new avatars are just a childish attempt to continue to stir the pot. There seems to be some perception that Christians are prudes -this is not the case - and although I hold the view that p0rn is an addiction, but regardless of this, I would like to know how the wives and girlfriends would feel if they knew about some of the content. Personally, I think that the deifinition of a real man is one that love Jesus and not one who has the most notches on his belt. I choose to honour my wife every way. I have no need or desire to look pictures woman in various states of undress. Regardless of your belief, every person has a conscience, some moral compass. Use that in considering what you are about to post. Perhaps the most democratic way to solve this is have admin write the rules for posting. As much as I enjoy reading and shopping on The Hub - (there are many great people here who have helped me build bikes at a reasonable price) if p0rnography is is listed as acceptable content then my choice will be to do my shopping elsewhere.
  17. Re Cornering: Trust him. Don't fight him. Re Cadence: Still waiting for JB to respond on my comment re a sprag clutch - see somewhere in the previous pages.
  18. For me to defend God would imply that I am bigger than Him, I am not. He does not need me to fight His battles for Him. But I am called to share His Word and bring others to salvation. For those who are offended by the content of the Bible, the challenge is theirs (as it is mine) to openly receive that correction. I accept the fact that changing the minds of some is futile, there has to be a change of heart first .... You have to believe in order to understand, not understand in order to believe - that's why it is called FAITH.
  19. I obey because I believe .... (not the other way around) And as for the other short-sighted comments: Things that render the existence of God/s highly unlikely. No group of people who haven't met others have ever come up with the same God/s as another people. Cyclenut says: Then you should come to my church... that's an official invitation The universe is entirely deterministic, there are no particles found that do not act according to the Laws of Physics. This, by definition, leaves no room for the supernatural. Cyclenut says: see my comment on Creation and the origin of "Universe" Nothing bad happens to you if you don't believe, beyond things done by those who do. Cyclenut says: Except an eternity in Hell Religious believers as a group have exactly the same susceptibility to disease and accident as non-believers, despite all those prayers Cyclenut says: No where in the Bible does it say that Believing in Christ will mean an exclusion from suffering .... cyclenut2008-05-12 00:57:10
  20. ' date=' but I'll make do with a little![/quote'] How about this ... Creation - there was no big bang, but a big God. Universe ... Defn: from two words: Uni + Verse Defn: Uni: single Defn: Verse: sentence ... Genesis: And God Said "Let there be ....... "

  22. 29 April A young inventor has created a motorbike with a twist - it uses two wheels but they are positioned right next to each other, giving it the illusion of being a powered unicycle. And even better, it might help save the planet. Ben Gulak has spent several years building the electric Uno that uses gyroscopic technology - like the infamous Segway commuter device - to stay upright. The bizarre-looking contraption has only one switch - on or off - and is controlled entirely by body movement. The rider leans forwards to accelerate to speeds of 25mph and back to slow down. It has two wheels side-by-side and has been turning heads wherever it has been ridden. The green machine is so small and light it can be taken indoors and carried into lifts - and is recharged by being plugged into the mains. The wheels are completely independent, allowing the bike to turn on a sixpence and the technology takes the balance and guesswork out of riding a unicycle. Its 18-year-old creator is now looking for investors to get the Uno into production and onto the streets. Ben, from <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Ontario, Canadaon>, said: "I was inspired to make the bike after visiting Chinaon> a few years ago and seeing all the smog. "They all drive little bikes that are really polluting and I wanted to make something to combat that. "I started with the concept because if something doesn't look cool people just won't be interested. "After coming up with the concept I started to build it and now have the first prototype and the reaction has been amazing. "It has two wheels side by side and that means it is easier to turn as they are completely independent and have their own suspension. "The bike has a 'neutral point' and when you lean forward it accelerates to keep the neutral point in the right place. "It has a couple of gyros and is basically self-balancing - it takes the guesswork out of riding a unicycle. "The bike takes a bit of getting used to because you have to learn to trust it. But it doesn't take long. "It takes any weight and weighs 120 lbs and can fit into a lift so you can take it indoors to charge it up. "Currently it has a top speed of 25mph, but that will be increased greatly with bigger motors. "It has a range of about 2.5 hours and it is designed for the commute to work through busy towns. I believe this could be electrical alternative to the car. I'm just looking for an investor to help me get it into production."
