  1. I really think the explanation in RED is good as it makes sense. What I am reading in most of the responses is that even if the event organisers charge the cyclists R50-00 more to cover their costs, it is fine, as long as we do not know what it is made up of? When I entered for both the Carousel and the Kremetart, the "service fees" were shown to me, so it was my choice to enter or not. I asked myself what the options are not to enter and "save" this additional cost? Option 1 - do not enter and miss out on a fabulous day. 2 - Get in my car, drive to a cycle shop, pick up an entry form, fill it out, scan or fax it to the organisers and do an EFT payment for the "advertised" cost. Oh no, sorry, the bank charge me for EFT, but that is fine. In this country it is fine to pay a service fee to the banks, but not to anyone else (does not make sense).Let alone all the fuel, time etc. Much cheaper to pay someone for their service to make my life easier. 3. Call the event organiser and ask him to fax me the entry form and go through the same process as in option 2. Come on guys, be fair. At least we can see what they charge us and not like (shall I say "all the other companies") others that we do not know what we are paying for their service. The reason why an entry is costing me R220-00, is because it is made up of service providers fees, else it would be free to enter. In my mind, ChampionChip is still tops and my preferred timing company.
  2. Hi Sylvester I have a special hand made bike trailer which I use once a year to take down 14 bikes to the Argus. I've hired it out once, but the guy went to the Richtersveld and tha trailer came back quite damaged, so I am not sure if I'd like to hire out the trailer although I would like to assist you. Where are you guys going? Maybe send me a personal e-mail and we can discuss there.
  3. Ag man, julle ou klomp MTB'ers is behep met julself. Julle dink julle is beter as die manne op die pad. Ek ry beide, en in beide groepe kry jy gawe mense en minder gawe mense. Ek wens julle wil ophou om padryers te probeer uitwys as iets slegs. Kry iets beter om oor te kla!
  4. My first choice for timimg any event is ChampionChip. I just wish more of the event organisers want to make use of them.
  5. Ek het nogal baie hard geval met verlede jaar se To-Hell-en-Back. (14 November 2010) Het my sleutelbeen gebreek. % ribbes gebreek en my bladbeen vergruis. Die slegste van alles was toe my long plat geval het. Ek sou voorstel jy klim op jou trainer so gou as wat jy voel jy is reg. Sterkte!!
  6. I do not know CWC as I am in the old Transvaal, however, reading through many of the posts, if the guy or lady phoned Chris, he would probably fix everthing at no cost. The problem I have in this country, and probably all over, Chris would probably say that he would fix everything, but they had to bring the bike back to the shop, and that is my problem. I buy something. Find out at home things were not done 100%, so now I once again have to get into my car, drive back so they can fix their stuff-up. They will not pay you your time or travelling, and all of this could have been saved if only they did their work right the first time, which one actually expects, since you pay for that. My 5c worth!!
  7. You know what the rules are with regards to usinmg timing chips - Not to use both at the same time on your bike: use them with their bike mountings to make sure you get timed; If on a tandem, use one in from and one at the back - to me the rules are simple, just stick to them and you will have your official time. I still like ChampionChip as the results were out on the WEB very early yesterday, well done ChampionChip!!
  8. Guys, so let us hope the tour will run smoothly from now until the end!! All the best of luck to both the participants and the organisers!!
  9. Ja, en so is almal onskuldig gewees. Nie een van die klomp wat opkikkers gebruik het, het dit gedoen of was bewus daarvan gewees nie. Helaas, totdat hulle uitgevang was. Kyk maar onse ou Landis mater. Het ook tot die bitter einde geveg om sy kant te verdedig, maar is toe uitgevang!!
  10. Yip, we had the same situation on the 62km ride. Also put the Tandems with the AS bunch, for what ever reason? Had a nice race though, but the route, as decribed on the CycleLab entry page, was not the same we did in the race. Some of our Tandems riding in the front, missed out on the turn-off and this caused us to loose the front part of the bunch. Tried our best, but could not catch them. Nice race though!!
  11. Well good luck to all you guys down there. Thank God that the controlling body a good couple of years back new how to get things done making sure that S A Champs was well organised and run on time and every one knew what was happening. Surely its not only up to the Province who is hosting the champs to make sure all is organised. My question! C S A wtf are you doing for and to S A Cycling?? CSA is taking a lot of money from us cyclists, tha tis what the yare doing for cycling!!
  12. Fuuny enough, I am a preferred Roadie and can say the same on the MTB'ers. Even when I am on the MTB, the MTB'ers do not grret eaither, so make peace with it. It has nothing to do with Road or MTB'ers, but with the person on the bike. Grow up on this please!!
