  1. PW, What's your weapon of choice?
  2. I just don't understand why Spez bike are so expensive? They are nice, but R10k - R20k (depending on model) nicer than the other mass production bikes? Don't think so. For that money I want a handmade frame. What am I missing?
  3. And me. Except I don't have a FF helmet and padding! I've bought so many pieces of land in Jonkers, they will probably just give the whole thing to me pretty soon.
  4. Park at the bottom off Jip de Jager road just after the final traffic light. The whole trail taking in all the singletrack (there are a few different options) is about 9km and takes about 45 - 55 minutes to do depending how hard and what bike your riding. It's all for free.
  5. A few years ago a boertjie moer'd a ghey in my local Virgin Active for wearing a very revealing Borat-ish/wrestling type outfit. And then they both got banned from gym. That was funny. Sorry what's this fred about?
  6. Cool stuff. Thx for the comments. You okes are making the right noises, so keep them coming!
  7. Hie hie... I'm way ahead of you boet. Got the Rockshox Reverb.
  8. What??!! 29'er !! Are you insane !! Those are meant for clowns! Do I look funny to you! Nah, boet, I have an Intense Tracer as my AM rig. More bike than I can handle at this stage.
  9. For sure. I bought an AM bike about a year ago, so that's at least a step in the right direction. And I'm already taking smaller jumps and drops that I would never do previously. But I must admit taking big drops and jumps still freaks me out. And I think that's where proper protective gear will make a big diff in getting me to take the next step.
  10. That's awesome. You drive a hard bargain sir! Ja I guess the first step is to get the right gear (FF helmet, pads etc) and go from there. And then see how quickly the confidence grows. Take it step by step.
  11. No sure, I obviously also go down there without any protection, but for a non DH boykie (like myself), I guess you'd feel a lot more comfy if you knew there's some extra padding should things go wrong. Man, I'm actually so sad that I never got into the DH scene when I started mtbiking. Mostly out of ignorance I guess. Now that I'm close to 40, you just don't have the balls (or smaller one's ) to try big DH type stuff.
  12. Sheesh. I seriously need to get some full face protection and knee/elbow pads. You can't really blast that section without good protection. I've had one very bad crash in that section where I lost the front end and basically rolled (... not on the bike)to the botttom. What bike do you ride with at Majik?
  13. Well what you waiting for! Go do the run and this time take the gnarly route. Report back asap.
  14. It's a pity that section gets eroded so quickly. It gets repaired and then 3 weeks and 2 thunderstorms later it's just dongas everywhere. But ja, the okes with AM bikes will be fine, but then the HT riders will have to be really wakey if we take the route down there.
  15. Hmpf... as soon as I'm back from Karoo to Coast I will attack Majik with a vengeance. I can't let a clown bike beat the magnificent and far superior Morewood Zula. O ja, there is the slight problem of the not so magnificent and far inferior rider of the Zula...
  16. Ha ha! Unlike Brussel ( ), I'm probably the least competitive person on the planet. I do things for fun and not to compete. But that doesn't mean I don't like a blast down the mountain. Will see you next time for DS. Just need to find my flats. Don't think clipless will work that well?
  17. Sorry Cap, riding Karoo to Coast this weekend. But back next weekend. Will join you okes next time round.
  18. Brussel was already disqualified for riding a clown bike, so I win by default. Admittedly it's not a very satisfying victory, but hey a win is a win.
  19. Nooooo? Really?
  20. I reckon let it finish all the way at the bottom. Those sections next to the dam are lekker tricky and a good test of skill level.
  21. For sure. There's anyway just a small number of blind corners where you will have to be a more careful of oncoming traffic. I've been riding in Majik for 10 years and haven't once crashed into other riders/pedestrians. Just be sensible about it. After a while you know in which sections it's safe to give it horns.
  22. Er..sorry, we forgot to mention that no clown bikes allowed. So it doesn't count.
  23. Hmmm... night riding here I come! The quitest time in majik is normally around lunch time over weekends. Most people are in Majik early to mid morning and then late afternoon-ish.
  24. Yup, that's pretty much it.
  25. Sounds cool to me.
