  1. Ha ha! Well then it's settled. Ok Cap, go and set a time that the rest of us can chase! Just remember time stops when you hit the pavement at the car park.
  2. A note of caution while doing your run: beware of running over old tannies, small dogs and their owners, bush dwellers, medium sized dogs and their owners, trail runners, large dogs and their owners...
  3. M9 probably not the best tool? What else you got?
  4. Ha ha! Cool! I'm going for a training ride on Saturday morning, and I always finish the ride with a bash through Majik. Will be sure to take the stop watch along! Unfortunately it will be with the Zula which has xc tyres on the at the moment (for Karoo to Coast), but there's lots of peddly bits, so it should make up some time there. Hmm... would be interesting to see whether the Zula is quicker than the Tracer?
  5. I bet you I can do it in... er, 6:59.
  6. I've been riding with these Troy Lee xc pants for about 2 years and luv them to bits. Tough as nails and not too hot. Nice venting.
  7. Beautiful machines, but the problem with these bikes is that their owner's will probably never let me them loose on proper off road terrain, because heaven forbid they get a scratch.
  8. One of my friends has it on his AM bike. He loves it. You can basically change gears regardless of whether the chain is under load or not. You can even change gears while back pedalling. So it's an interesting piece of kit. It does however weigh quite a bit more than a normal crank, and I'm not sure how many bike shops can actually support it in terms of maintenance.
  9. My advise would be to rather spend a little bit more on your first bike. I'm not saying go out and buy the most expensive carbon fibre machine you can find, but sometimes when you add a few grand you actually get a lot more bike (especially when you buying 2nd hand). If you buy too cheap you will invaribly find yourself having to upgrade very soon again... yes, you will fall in love with mtbiking and yes you will want to upgrade bikes!
  10. And how durable are the hubs? Do they need regular servicing like the Mavics?

    Downhill Songs!

Aaah, some more Trent Reznor fans. My favourite is Wish from the Broken album. Angry sh*t.
  12. Yup, very tricky section. Who would have thought knee pads can be handy on a climb.
  13. Ugh, I should show you what my knees look like from taking tumbles on the rocky sections in Jonkers. So far I've been lucky, just some scrapes and small amount of bloodletting, but you know, the next time I might no be that fortunate. Somehow knees are just rock magnets. I better get those knee pads soon.
  14. The future of DH racing is certainly looking very rosy. Sheesh, how much quicker can these guys go?
  15. Coolios !
  16. Patches, what knee and elbow pads do you guys suggest for AM riding? I seriously need to start invest in something like that. Don't want something that's too bulky though. Just enough protection should the odd tree, rock etc jump in your way!
  17. *** vraag sit. OF COURSE YOU MUST BLOW IT ON YOUR BIKE !! Pfffffttt...
  18. He's probably gotten used to people laughing and pointing fingers at him.
  19. Gonna hang on to it for the moment. My Zula has the same lenght low rize bar on, and I'm thinking of maybe putting the 30mm rize on for trail riding. But will let you know as soon as I decide to sell it.
  20. Well said Mr P. I think most of us feel this way, but there's always a few a-holes who screws it up for the majority.
  21. Just recently changed to: Funn Fatboy handlebars 710mm lenght 50mm rise Thomson stem 50mm from: Easton EA 70 bar 685mm wide 30mm rize Ritchey stem 70mm I must say, it seems like small changes, but the bike feels a lot more stable with the extra bar width. And the shorter stem compliments the longer bar, so that it still feels "nippy" and quick to turn. Will stick with this set up for a while. Might also go for 730mm bars later on.
  22. When you're driving a 1400 Ford Fiesta which can only do 140km/h (...down a mine shaft), the Autobahn becomes a very scary place.
  23. Uhm ja, it does have a big S on there, so maybe it's Special in some way?
  24. Damn that thing is fugly.
