  1. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/766065/merida-big-7-xt-edition here is a good example, even though it's 2016 model it's been maintained and looks great for its age
  2. Hi Leagan, im 16 and still learning, I started last year and did not know what to do, I was obsessed with doing enduro but my original budget of 10k forced me into cross-country. I thought if I bought new it would be best but it really isn't. its a bit trouble some if your budget is only 3500 because often it gets to that just to repair things on a bike. I would say is before you think of buying a bike do research. when you think you have done research get ready to do some more. look at GMBN on you tube and also learn about all the mountain biking standards, like the different hub standards and how hydraulic brakes work and 3x vs 1x drivetrains, look at also how to maintain and repair your bike at home. then also look at the different disciplines of mtb and what suites you best. then when you know you know all the basics and what you want I would only recommend you get a size M and go for a hardtail since they offer the best bang for the buck and you learn usefull skills without even knowing it. 2nd hand is your best choice and before you buy, speak to the buyer and also ask the community if its worth it or not. don't forget to get a helmet { even though ive only been riding for a year I have a broken collar bone and would be dead if I didn't have a helmet, look for certified ones and I would not go lower that 500 for a helmet below that its just for show and uncomfortable and dangerous} stay away from bikes that look very rough and don't go for older than 2020 unless if the parts have been maintained and replaced. your best option is to save up to 8000 to by a 2nd hand bike that's alright condition and also a good helmet and some money to upgrade the bike to suit you best, btw stay away from titan racing, only their expensive bikes 30k+ are good their budget bikes just break and break, bought my bike for 10k and im 26k into it with upgrades and repairs. if you have any further questions do ask and also ask others with more experience for advice, wish you the best of luck with this amazing love hate journey you will get to experience with mtb, and remember the bike is the cheapest thing about the sport🤣
  3. I'm going to get a wheel set from them seeing how good the price is and now that you've verified the quality I am 💯 going with them thanks alot for the advice !
  4. I'm a bit in a pickle, if you know me from my previous post then this is related to that. i am looking for 2 new quick release hubs with 32 hole spoke count, HD free wheel and preferably 4 or 6 pawls. I'm not sure where i can get it and what to get, is there anything i should look out for? anything to avoid etc. Its going on a TITANRACING Rogue Sport 2023 and weight is the least of my concerns i do mostly xc singletrack and flow trails and must disk rotor compatibility, i am on a lower budget of around 2500 for both hubs< can go a bit higher but then itt starts to eat in my rim budget. 6 bolt rotors
  5. chain break was fixed immediately, luckily i was only 1km away from my local bike shop
  6. yes king price said they cover a race aslong as you arnt a pro rider
  7. I dint expect them to put good quality rims on, i feal like the rims are good enough to get you started but not good enough to do more harsh things it is a budget bike after all
  8. Today i wanted to go for a nice pr record of 60km since getting back on my bike, it was cut short by a snaped chain quick link, a puncture and my hub wobbling about 5mm to each side, i feel that something is not right in my drivetrain and i also hear it, my rims are now cracked and will not hold tubeless anymore i blame that on titan racing cutting corners on the rogue sport 2023. i would like to know can some of this be covered by warranty or can it be covered by king prices R1 bicycle insurance and if not how much will the total cost be for the new wheel sets. For those who want to know i snaped the chain just going up hill suppose to much power since the chain is well maintained and only has 100km on it and the rims because i heavily cased a jump. i fixed the chain though
  9. and if i cant find stock is there a big difference between 25mm and 30mm?
  10. Since the last time i posted a forum i did quite allot of changes and upgrades to my bike, i also went on a skills training course and shortly after that {6 weeks ago} i broke my collar bone on a jump, i know i want new handle bars but i don't know how much i want to go for. I care more about the comfort and the down hills of riding. so how much rise should i go for?
  11. i don't really have money for a smaller frame and also i like the frame size that i have now but i do plan on going for a 70mm stem compared to the 100mm stem right now
  12. FINAL UP DATE!: Sorry i took so long i am currently busy with exams. So i fund that it does make the bike feel more comfortable, my top tube was lower, my bunny hops felt easier and my maneuverability was improved my top speed was affected by 7kmh and climbing i felt no difference. so if i where to be going on the trails just for fun would i do it maybe otherwise it felt the same.
