  1. I have a similar quandary, 70+km/h down either Cowley or Grosvenor at the start of the ride and a monster climb home I guess this is why Di opted out around Jan Smuts Ave on the return leg.
  2. Sorry ND, however I must say I really enjoyed the visit to your neck of the woods. I think I need to do more rides out that way and explore Delta Park, Alberts Farm and the Botanical Gardens more. Interesting fact, looks like all the bush dwellers have gone home for the holidays. Didn't see one the whole ride. Also City Parks where working very hard on the North section of the spruit.
  3. Don't tell ND but, we rolled deep into her territory this morning. Danger Dassie, joined Di_CPD, my son (Kurtis) and myself and we road from Fourways to 12th Ave, and down the spruit to the botanical gardens and back. Near the end we dropped in at the bike park to have some frozen mocca at che' Ali. Good day, apart from stopping to pop a tube into my back tyre at Bryanston drive it was a very cool ride. Thanks all. Hope you all going to be at the ride on the 1st.
  4. I confirmed the two couples riding... including two hubbers. I also asked him a question but perhaps you can tell me... On the Dinokeng map where is Nokeng Eco Lodge situated? The turn off to the lodge is about 16km up the same road (De Rust, I think) as the ride. However I'd suggest asking Michelle to mail you a map as it has a lot more detail to it.
  5. Don't forget to email Calabash if you are planning on attending.
  6. we have to work on the friday Here is some inspiration: flu, food poisoning, migraine .....
  7. It will be good. After discussion with the boss, we decided to stay an extra day, so we will only be heading back on the 2nd. I heard that the Lodge we staying at also has some MTB trails along the Elands river (I thiink).
  8. Cool, mail sent.
  9. Never knew tires could burp!! you learn something new every day! Yip, and when you fat like me it happens very, very easily at low pressures.
  10. One of the huge benefits to running tubeless is running the tyre at low pressure so that it folds over rock and roots etc giving a much firmer foot print and more comfortable ride. This feature makes climbing rocky sections much, much better. Pumping the tyre hard defeats this completely. As far as I'm concerned you should just run your tubeless hard enough to avoid burping and learn to live with and appreciate the squishy feel on hard surfaces. Thats my 2 cents anyway.
  11. I've just booked some camping accommodation for myself and the family. Very reasonably priced. Anyone interested, here are the details: Michelle at Nokeng Eco Lodge 012 722 0351 They also have self catering options. I'm looking forward to doing new years in the bush veld .
  12. A sure sign that you are training to your limit. Drink more green tea and eat broccoli to reduce the chances of getting sick.
  13. If anyone is interested I'm planning on taking a long slow post Xmas spruit ride from 12th Ave to Emmerentia and back this coming Sunday. We will be leaving the Douglasdale Total garage (cnr Leslie and Douglas, Woolies side) just after 8. For the more adventurous we can swing past the bike park on the way back.
  14. I've now seen 3 bikes that have come back from this years Sabie. All very, very used bikes now. Even the brand new (a couple of weeks back) Merrida 96!!!
  15. In the immortal words of the great Meatloaf; "You took the words right out of my mouth."
  16. BTW - Paris is Lisa's dodgy French car and has nothing to do with my 'dale. Eish! I think that may be war talk. markStockton2008-12-22 11:12:31
  17. Had a crash at Babbas (see photos on the Babbas thread) and was away on business for the rest of the week. The insurance assessor took a look at her this morning and I dropped her off for surgery directly there after. She should be back for the ride on the 1st. However I spent the weekend getting the Diamond Back back into shape and had a ball with her on the single track around Fourways on the weekend. Planning a long spruit ride this weekend, maybe Sunday. Interested?
