  1. for those of us who are vertically challenged - it's the only way to carry 2 bottles when riding most small full suspension frames
  2. just got the kit now and wanted to say a massive thank you to wolfie for everything. It's a very strange thing to have never met the person you want to thank, and know that in line with what you received know that 'thank you' is not even close to enough of a show of gratitude. Some have offered beers, others orange juice, wolfie said he'd needed neither.. Mate, you rock, and should be made honorary king for a day We should instigate the first ever Hub public holiday - named after a hubber who went the extra yard for hubbers, many of whom he'll probably never meet PPWTF2008-09-09 02:04:57
  3. it's fair to say you will not find a better deal than those offered on the hub by Tokenfreak. If you a not brand sensitive, and can see a quality bit of kit for what it is, not simple a collection of branding graphics or stickers with a 60% inflated price tag then you will see that Tokenfreak is the man with a plan, and that you'll be riding an awesome bit of kit at an amazing price. why spend more when you can get the same quality of equipment for so so much less?
  4. aah, the very best of late 80's excess... makes me cringe seeing what was hip styling wise. This thing probably came in 'lipstick' red as new, complete with white leather interior and lots of chrome trim loved by Germans and oil rich Arabs everywhere, from the autobahns of Munchen to the mirage in the desert that is Riyadh - all visiting Park Lane, London, for the summer, complete with continental number plate.... A real blast from the past - nice photo mbaymike PPWTF2008-09-04 23:58:05
  5. Cool article from Outside magazine - not exactly the quick fix the title suggests either http://outside.away.com/outside/bodywork/200807/twelve-week-fitness-program-1.html Bodywork Special Twelve Weeks In which the author undertakes a grandiose experiment: to discover whether a regularly imbibing, socially smoking, still carousing 37-year-old can transform himself into a competitive athlete. Guess what? He did. Follow his plan and you can, too.
  6. http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/02/thats_folding_c.php decent article on the Cube http://www.cube-bikes.de/xist4c/web/Urban-Street-Concept-Bike_id_30923_.htm From the Cube website - unfortunately it's all in German.............. PPWTF2008-09-04 05:33:31

  8. I'd guess this is photoshop at work... just seems to bizarre to be real PPWTF2008-09-04 04:55:09
  9. not wanting to hijack, just to enhance.....
  10. Forget the GPS and get a Suunto T6C - awesome bit of kit. I've got a T6 and will hopefully upgrade some time later this year. The Sport Science centre uses them above anything else for the accuracy of the collected data, and the T6C has cadence on top of everything else the T6 already did.
  11. adding my 2cents worth... there is a formal study which show that the performance difference is something like 0.1 % between crank lengths. The report concludes that crank length is therefore only truly significant, from a performance perspective, for Elite athletes. The same report emphasized that bike fit is typically achieved through non crank length related means, and as such crank length is a 'feel' issue, akin to a swimmer describing a 'feel' for the water. There is no science to support such a 'feel' but it is formally recognized as playing a critical part in maximizing performance. A long winded way of saying crank length is a personal choice issue, unless you are the next Lance Armstrong et al..... I did post the link to the report on another thread here some time ago, but I'm damned if I can find it......... PPWTF2008-09-02 02:27:33
  12. http://www.southafrican.co.uk/sport.aspx?ID=547 "Revelations are only now emerging of the R11m the department of sport has spent on the disastrous SA sports expo in Beijing and the 14 officials who flew over to China, booking into the Westin Hotel, where George Bush stayed recently, at R10 000 a night." http://www.citizen.co.za/index/article.aspx?pDesc=76250,1,22 Though I hate the phrase - we've reached a tipping point..... 13. Bear Traps.... man oh man is that a blast from the past We used to line people up sideways on , like 5, 6, 7, 8 (no one wanted to be on the far end..... hahahaha) and jump them. We'd pedal like crazy down a good slope... ramp was made from scrap wood and a few bricks under the end. Remember a few very scary front first landings, almost like stalling in mid air...... awesome memories. We thought we were unbreakable, gravel rash and scars on the chin were all worn with pride.
  14. BMX world cup is here in 2009 (anyone have a weblink for it, UCI or local organiser?) The bloody Aussies have already hosted UCI BMX pre Olympics to... "South Australia will once again shine in the world?s cycling spotlight this weekend as the best BMX riders compete for Beijing Olympics qualifying points at the 2008 UCI BMX Supercross event. The three-day event will be staged on a 310-metre indoor track, being built with 200 truckloads of sand and clay at Adelaide Showgrounds in a record 60 hours. Together with the Australian BMX Championships, being held the following weekend, the events are expected to attract 3000 visitors and generate $3 million for the State?s economy. Tourism Minister Jane Lomax-Smith joined with UCI BMX Commission president Abe Schneider today to preview the track ahead of heats later today. Dr Lomax-Smith says the event is part of South Australia?s growing calendar of major events, including a brilliant blend of international sporting events." If we get half that kind of turnout and exposure it'll be an awesome time here PPWTF2008-08-28 04:16:28
  15. nice one 'tyger'... fair play though, Triathlon is a major event and you need major B***s to take on Ironman. anyone doing swim, cycle, run deserves some kind of pat on the back and yesterday off in my book
  16. Jan the man loved the Argus so much he stopped to serve Ice cold colas.... hard to argue with that
  17. So we've got UCI events coming out of our ears it seems, this year and for the next couple of years. Add the Worlds View Challenge, with its Pro Tour future rating and we're really cooking on gas. So, considering the 'outsider' events, and established SA ones; Giro del Capo, ABSA Cape Epic et al - which are the hubs top race(s) on the SA calendar? Post your top ten, or just list one, be it your favorite event, or the one you think is the best event, whichever way you view it. Is there an 'underground' event which rocks, or do the dig guns have all the votes? PPWTF2008-08-26 05:06:24
  18. Really great idea - I know that in Oz they have already had government sponsored research into the value of cycle tourism. Now imagine hooking up a public / private sponsorship deal, with City of Cape Town and the Cape Town Partnership (or the equivalents in other cities), promoting the destination overseas whilst developing the sporting talent of the country at the same time..... Sean, seriously, who'd you take this to if you wanted to turn itinto a formally developed proposal?
