  5. I'm a bit new to mountainbiking and just can't seem to get the tyre pressure just right. I either run too soft and compromise rolling speed or run too hard and risk traction. So what would be ideal for you guys who weight around 60kg. Oh and I'm on the normal clinchers, not tubbies.
  6. what sorta tyre pressure is ideal to do this one on?
  7. it's like suing McDonald's for being fat!
  8. I have a Garmin Edge 800 and tried using it this morning. Upon switching it on the Garmin logo appears and underneath in small print it shows "loading maps". It somehow seems to be stuck on this and doesn't get into start mode. I tried resetting and all by holding in the top left of screen and switching it back on, but it still doesn't want to get into the start mode. Anybody experience the same problem? Any assistance be will be appreciated.
  9. Is anyone doing a group training ride this Sunday(4/11/12) around Somerset West, Kleinmond area? Thought about maybe joining a group.
  10. Was on the scene minutes after it happened. The paramedics were also really quick on the scene. From what I picked up this happened on a blind corner where cyclist are coming down heading towards Hout Bay at really high speed. Motorists who turn off to those viewing areas are totally oblivious and misjudge the speed at which these cyclists approach. This is a 60km/h zone and it's easy to get carried away by not being cautious with cyclists reaching speeds well over 70km/h. There's been times where I too needed to take drastic action coming around a bend only to find a car crossing over on the last minute. To me it looked like it was just an unfortunate situation and honest accident. All the best to Gerrit and I wish him a speedy recovery.
  11. thanks guys for your help! The bike actually belongs to my brother. He only just recently got into cycling after a lengthy illness and only bought the bike few months ago. Unfortunately he wasn't smart enough to insure it along with his other household contents. So this has proven to be quite a costly lesson for him. I just thought I'd at least try and recover the bike after learning of a few success stories here on the hub.
  12. This Orbea road bike was stolen during a house burglary in Eagle Park, Cape Town. Could I maybe ask that anyone who sees this bike around please contact me on 0835735623? Much appreciated.
  13. looks like something I'd rather roll up and smoke...pfft
  14. I went out cycling on Boyes Drive Sunday morning and found a set of remote keys along the road. Two attached to each other. The one looks like a remote for a garage or gate while the other looks like a house alarm remote thingy. If it's yours PM me.
  15. Andy Schleck – “What happened happens…” From the moment that Andy Schleck dropped his chain, until he started riding again after his attack on the Port de Bales it was 28 seconds. At the finish, he lost 39 to Alberto Contador who is the new leader of the Tour de France. Andy is angry but he could also give lessons in how to be forgiving… “Now I’m really angry. I will ride on the Tourmalet until I fall from my bike and give everything to this race. “I felt really good but what counted at the end of the day is the time that you have when you arrive at the finish and I was so far back even with what I did on the descent. “I promised my brother this morning that I wouldn’t take any risk on the downhill but I think I went down pretty fast... for me, let me put it that way. I didn’t want to lose too much time. “Things happen, and everything happens for a reason. People can say what they want but they also have realize that Alberto was one of the guys who waited for me in Spa and that was really a great sign of fair play. Chapeau! Today was a different story, a different scenario but the Tour is not finished. [Question: Andy, you seem so calm. You speak really relaxed but are you not mad with your bike or at anyone – maybe with Alberto?] “What happened, happens. I cannot change the situation even if I’m mad. Of course I wouldn’t have minded to throw my bike into the fence and just hit someone but you’ve got to keep yourself under control in situations like this. If you just stay calm it’s worthwhile. If yell at people, it won’t change the situation. It is how it is. I’m not crying behind my jersey. In the end it comes down to the fact that this is a bike race and we will make the final count. I’m not done with.”
