  1. I'm sure this question has been asked, but I'm not sure how to search it. So here goes.... My friend mentioned that using a carbon fiber frame on an indoor trainer puts added stress on the frame. Is this true? Is a carbon frame on an indoor trainer a no-no?
  2. an israeli from the East Rand
  3. Cause its like sooooo the Cape Town thing to do bru sorry forgot to mention it's for someone who is originally from CPT, but who is now currently located in Fourways JHB. She was thinking about joining up with Cyclelab, but I told her I'd find out from any hubbers first before she makes a decision.
  4. Do any of you cyclists in Gauteng know of any good cycling clubs one could join?
  5. this is shocking! Where about is chartwell?
  6. yoh! they've been taking long to sort this out now. How much damage could it possibly be?
  7. do you perhaps know what they charged?
  8. Do any of the hubbers out there know of a cost effective way of transporting or couriering your precious to another destination? I'm in Cape Town and looking to do the 94.7. We might be either driving or taking the train, but don't want to risk putting it on the train itself and if we do drive there won't be place for any bikes. Is there a company that will be able to courier it through?
  9. for me it's kinda important to use at least some kinda supplement just to aid or assist your body with whatever exercise you doing. The only thing is deciding what to use, what brand, etc, etc. The media is choka block with all this supplement hype and the wonders it can do for you. Just like that A4 page ad of Robbie holding a VO2 max bottle in his hand showing how great it is for you(personally I think that stuff is a load of crap). We all get caught into buying this crap and at the end of the day thinking it works when all it does is burn your money. It'll be interesting to know though what specific brand works for hubbers though if you willing to share?
  10. yeah been spotting this guy around , always at events, last saw him at the UCI chamionships...real scrorny looking oke
  11. thanks guys!
  12. Does anyone know where one can go have their polar watch/accessories fixed in the Cape Town area? I heard that if you need anything repaired, even just replacing the battery you'd need to courier it through to their head office in JHB?!
  13. Does anyone know when the highlights package or footage of the event will be screened?
  14. any info on that?
  15. does anyone know if theres going to be track cycling this year again?
  16. hey it makes you aerodynamic ok!
  17. yes, I've heard that it becomes particularly important after a hard ride or race, maybe anything more than 2/3 hours. Also its important to 'flush' the excess lactic acid. I'm just wondering how much of a negative effect this will have and for how long?
  18. having all said that is very helpful, thanks. how important is the cooling down after a race as well? does it make a difference? or can one just go for a massage?
  19. I heard that one should also rather eat the brown pasta and not the white? what's your guys opinion on that? is wheat free pasta better?
  20. One of my cycling buddies got mugged this morning whilst on his training ride. Doing his usual route through Durbanville Wine Route, he decided to vary it a bit and go down the N7 past Bosmansdam Turnoff(past the Caltex Refinery). Apparently there's a squatter camp close by. He noticed some guy standing on the side of the road looking as if he wanted to cross over, but as soon as he drew nearer to the guy he immediately threw him off his bike. Thankfully two motorists driving down the N7 stopped when they noticed the comotion and gave chase and saved the cyclist from further trauma. He is now in hospital with a badly bruised arm & leg. Just a friendly warning to cyclists out there to please be cautious especially when riding alone.
  21. thanks guys!
  22. just if I may deviate from the topic a bit.... I had a fall Wednesday on one of my morning rides and got some heavy road rash. It burns & stings like hell! What's the best and quickest way to speed up the healing process?
