  1. Na - my bike life so far taught me that even if you ride a perfect circle the wind will come full frontal the whole time...
  2. I remember they had a pasta dish at the lunch stop last year...
  3. I'm usually the only one riding a CUBE bike :-)
  4. I'm also aiming for sub 7 - was planning to ride with my Epic partner. You are welcome to join. Interested to share a ride? I'll be travelling from Muizenberg and could pick you up somewhere along the way.
  5. Every single time I plan to take it easy from the start but I always buckle to the group pressure and go all out. Happened on every epic stage - the first hour 80% MHR... Dunno how to solve this... ;-)
  6. Also thanks from my side - it was an awesome route! More single track than I expected - quite a few passages I remembered from W2W and Epic. Would have been cool to get hold of a warm coffee after the race though...
  7. So what are you up to training wise this week? Some climbing? Intervals? Or tapering your ass off? I was planning to ride a 2h session on Wednesday and Thursday and maybe focus some more on stretching every day. Nothing on Friday and Saturday though. What are your plans?
  8. CUBE AMS 100 SUPER HPC RACE 29 Look S-Track pedals Geax Saguaro back and front
  9. I brought 4 pair of these into the country for the epic: http://www.x-bionic.com/men/biking/mountainbike/mountain-biking/135406/detail I really like them - on my foot much more comfy than the Falke and First Ascent I used before.
  10. I think Meerendal will be packed with Cape Epic contenders on the weekend. Count me in
  11. Nope - here is what we get: http://www.cape-epic.com/riders/new-riders/registration-package
  12. Hi Rob, do you think it will be possible to contact you on short notice on Saturday after registration? I would like to test my packing skills first and then decide if I need your service...
  13. Hi Ians, we are 176 :-) Cu on the start ramp...
  14. Not what are you looking for but this might be the page you have to check frequently: http://www.cape-epic.com/riders/the-2014-race/start-times
  15. I also was expecting to get their 120l world traveller bag. Besides the nutrition which takes up a lot of space I'll need to take a few tools and spares as well cause I can't afford a mechanic service. My partner and I now organised a supply delivery halfway through the race so we don't have to pack supplement food for the whole week. I usually take only a pillow case and stuff it with what is available - old camping trick... Any tips what you guys think is absolute essential to bring? What is your experience with the laundry service? Is it realistic to hand in a bag for washing and getting it back the next day?
  16. Many Thanks! That thing does indeed look pretty small. Packing challenge accepted...
  17. Hey V12man, where did you find the bag dimensions? I would like to check if my toolbox etc. fits in there. Could you please provide a link or the dimensions for me?
  18. Contact Nico Pfitzenmaier - he might be available this year.

My GPS clocked 1490m and all the guys I follow on Strava had ~1550m

Awesome race. The new route is top - lots of single track to enjoy. Though I found the jeep tracks at times very slippery when cornering. Will be back next year if they stick with the new venue.

If I remember correctly there was free coffee before the start last year which I thought was pretty cool...
  22. If you haven't received the email by now you can check on the racetec website under 'entered events'. I sneaked into AA...
  23. I recovered my valve cap today. FYI - there is also a pair of sunnies up for grab at the Tokai field office...
  24. Thanks guys! The hub is such a cool place!
  25. Hi guys, I just noticed that I forgot the cap which screws onto the fork valve in Tokai today. I'm pretty sure I left it neatly on the tree stump half way up Vasbyt - where this wooden structure is. If someone finds it please deposit it with the rangers at the parking lot or take it with you and let me know. I will be in Franschoek tomorrow morning an therefore can't pick it up myself before afternoon. Many Thanks!
