  1. The only gripe I have was pre-race with the people turning the R44 into their personal race track. Speeding and risky overtaking in the dark and on blind corners. And for what exactly? Better parking spot? Maybe it was isolated to my start time - maybe I'm getting too old and I'm loosing my tolerance levels... Just get up earlier. If you miss your start group it's not the end of the world - just start later.
  2. Am I the only one who notices the pattern here??? BikeShops without a beer fridge seem to struggle with customer satisfaction... Disclaimer: I only received excellent services from Janos and Droo. 🙂
  3. I think to remember that there's a thing called "moth effect" which describes that drunk drivers are drawn towards bright flashing lights. I wonder if that played a part in that incident.
  4. Schwalbe Nobby Nics for 499 on Onedayonly: https://www.onedayonly.co.za/products/26-29-tubeless-mtb-twinskin-performance-tyre-20231213
  5. Something that irritates me time and time again is the hostility and aggressiveness that is brought towards me when I get checked for my TMNP activity card while cycling in Tokai / Silvermine area. I'm always asking myself why can't they put that energy into making the mountain a safer place or something...
  6. 7. What is the link to that seeding? If I go to http://results.pedalpower.org.za/riderseeding.aspx I only the see my result from CTCT 2022...
  8. I heard rumours that you are riding into a headwind the whole time? Is that correct?
  9. I've got the Kärcher K2 and I find it ideal for cleaning my bikes - occasional the car. The pressure is on the light side so accidental damage on the bearings etc. is limited. Don't expect to do anything beyond that - it has just not enough power to properly deal with dirty walls and floors for example. Another advantage is that a pressure washer doesn't use as much water as when using a standard hose. Needs electricity though which is a whole new challenge nowadays... 😉
  10. I would be suspicious of brands that feel the need to copy established brand's corporate identity. At least for load bearing parts like a stem... 🙂
  11. How can you enter if you are not on Instagram?
  12. @The Ouzo This was an impressively precise prediction 🙂 You could possibly add: the seeding 2:6x jokes
  13. For what it's worth - I can see my start time on racetec but haven't received an email yet.
  14. I was in F group and this "strategy" created a whole bunch of problems. It's simple physics that the rider at the back coming out of the slipstream will be faster on the downhills. They then try to squeeze through every nook and cranny or go over the white line in order to gain a few metres. I didn't feel comfortable with that and I consider that rather reckless.
  15. Just checked the small print: "The short period between the Gryphon 99er and the CTCT 2023 has created some unsolvable logistical challenges. One of these is that 99er participants’ times will not automatically be used for seeding purposes for the 2023 CTCT. The organisers of the CTCT have, however, indicated that CTCT entrants who have participated in the Gryphon 99er Cycle Tour, may submit a re-seeding request if they believe their Gryphon 99er result will improve their starting time for the 2023 CTCT. The results of the 2023 Gryphon 99er Cycle Tour will automatically be taken into account for seeding purposes in the 2024 CTCT."
  16. I can't believe this - same thing happened with my Scalpel just now. I was able to push back the axle with a hammer and a piece of pipe just enough to get rear wheel out. Once I got it out the cassette fell off - seems that the freewheel body just disintegrated. The axle is still stuck inside the hub. Time for a new rear hub I guess...
  17. You should have received an email and SMS, otherwise on racetec.
  18. Ah - thanks for clarifying. I did the 110km route. I wish I had known this beforehand. I wanted to improve my seeding for the CTCT but this backfired now with the penalty 🙂 Doesn't really make sense to me though - could have kept it at 5 or so.
  19. Could anyone explain why the One Tonner has a penalty of 15 in the racetec seeding? I thought the penalty is for time passed since the event. Are there any other factors that influence the penalty?
  20. Does anyone know if registration can also be done on race day or is it mandatory to go to one of the registration locations on Thursday or Friday?
  21. MTBer here with a genuine question: How do you swap a shifter cable on these things? Is that still a DIY job?
  22. For what it's worth - I got my CWC delivery today.
  23. Deal on this combo if possible: https://www.evobikes.co.za/components/cranksets/race-face-aeffect-crank-arms-175mm.html https://www.evobikes.co.za/components/cranksets/race-face-cinch-spider.html

  25. While they are at it we should ask them to add berms. We so need berms around the roundabout...
