  1. This exact thing happened to me.  At first I thought it was a faulty battery cause I’d charge it full then ride for a short while (rear derailleur battery low) which was puzzling.

Yesterday in a race my main battery died, swopped to my spare, dead.  Then later tried to other batteries nothing worked.  SS for 35km = legs on fire LOL.

That led me to the LBC and there they told me about the pin issue.

Eish, now to find POP and get a new one.  Think of me peeps.

  2. Hoping someone can help.  Avianto used to have two sets of trails.  One on the property and another 20odd km over the road.

Is the second part open as I came across a closed gate a few months ago.  Wondering if the land owner got gatvol?

    Cheers hubbers

  3. Hi there, I'm looking at maybe doing it at some point (2022 long shot), but I was wondering if you can share your logistic plans with me?

Where are you flying to?  How will you get to & fro race etc.

    Thanks!

no worries mate. I hope you have a jol. I wish I could offer to take you on a tour of the best that part of the world has to offer, but I'm almost 5 weeks in with a broken ankle.

All I can say is that these trails are going to make you want to relocate to Cape Town for sure. ????

hehe, thanks for the thought bro.  Ye, I know, I've ridden "some" trails in the area and absolutely love it.  I'll report back on this thread on how it went.  #RideOn

I dunno how I managed to miss the fact that Plaisir have showers - you just made my year!!! I normally drive in from Blouberg and session the flow line for half a day and then drive back stinking up my bakkie smelling like a sun-cured pig. Now I can get showered, bike washed and perhaps even get some excellent wine all in one go.

That's almost as good a reason to ride Plaisir as that epic flow line is.

Shot for all of this the comments have been super rad.  Look, coming off of the bike that I have, I know my rental is going to be a bit of a donkey, but I figured, at least I can ride!  :)

Wonder how much of that is "trails" and how much are gravel roads ?

I certainly want to do that.

Wouldn't mind gravel roads to get some miles in over a nice long weekend in the winelands.  :)

  7. Dont ride alone.  The end.

I used to love the Spruit - it had a nice combination of everything, some really fast sections and you could cover a huge distance if you wanted to, but imagine finding yourself facing the hot end of a gun while you're out on your morning ride?? **** that for a game of soldiers.

The Spruit is a pretty predictable route as far as thieves are concerned. If they see a cyclist pass point A now, they can say with quite a bit of certainty when that cyclist will pass point B.

  8. Have you completed an epic?  If yes, cool, if no, please comment once you have experienced it.  I can assure you, lining up, at least once, is a massive highlight for any avid MTBer.

If I had 90 odd grand to spend on a nice little something for myself and my bicycle addiction I suspect that a trip to Europe to do some iconic rides and enjoy something different might come in higher on the list than 7 days of riding trails which, judging from the YouTube coverage, I have already ridden in other events

  9. Hi guys and gals.

Has anyone experience an issue with Zwift + Kickr where the Bluetooth connection drops intermittently for a split second dropping your power to 0, then it spikes back up to where you were?

I'm fairly clued up re: laptops and I'm wondering if the issue isn't just my laptop as it was perfect before I had upgraded it.  I've also recently added a wifi extender into my training room, so just wondering if anyone has had this and factors played a part?

    Cheers.

  10. Lots of little trails around which I use every now and again

    • Green Belt in Randpark Ridge can be used from Rabie by the N1 Bridge,
    • Rabie climb from N1 bridge towards Rhema also have kind of a trail by the houses, I've used the western side a lot. You can actually follow this all the way to CR Swart where you can take a left and follow CR swart to Kowie also following a foot path
    • Foot Paths next to Tim Road, and some more next to Hawken heading from Tin Road to Jim Fousche
    • Some next to Kelly
    • Fun downhill on Dale Lace from John Vorster to Jim Fousche. Can also head from Dale Lace to JG Strydom on Jim Fousche on nice foot paths on the south side of Jim Fousche
    • Green Belt in Weltevredenpark from Cockspur (close to JG Strydom) to Jim Fousche
    • John Vorster from Dale Lace to Christiaan de Wet
    • Christiaan de Wet from Dolfyn street almost all the way to Hendrik Potgieter

This is only naming a few sections I ride almost weekly.

There is lots of fun dirt road riding towards Ruimsig/Mulders, nothing too technical. If you want to learn the routes you are welcome to join some time.

Thanks for this Johan.  Sounds awesome.  Care to share some activities on Strava or your profile so I can connect?

  11. Also live in the area. Don't ride the Spruit that often anymore. If I do it will be via Northcliff down Albert Farm to Fratelli's and then back the same way

    Thanks for sharing.

When last have you been around Piet Skiet?  I tried (my first time) yesterday, but was stopped with big yellow "no entry" signs at the Piet Skiet entrance (a friend that had done it a few times confirmed we were at the right place.

Do you know whats going on and if there are any options?

I did find quite a few yellow boards with black arrows when coming back and it seems like some routes are now marked in that area behind Northerns?

    Cheerio

  12. Dear all,

I believe that the gates have been closed through the valley on the Rhenosterspruit ride up in Joburg.

Anyone able to give more info? Is the route still rideable?

If they are closed, any ideas what the story is there?

    Thanks so much!

Hi, we tried the route today and at the entrance of Piet Skiet new fence is up with yellow no entry signs.  Anyone know what's the deal?  Any alternatives?
