  2. Clearly certain cyclists seem to think that its ok to cycle down a one way, go through red robots and just have a general disregard for the law. I cant believe some can say "we should try and obey the rules" I don't think any of the cycling clubs or PPA would approve of this Anyway enough said cause i cant convince those doing it that it irresponsible. Safe cycling
  3. listen to cape talk, listeners are and were complaining about cyclists going against the flow of traffic. We often moan about motorists being inconsiderate towards us but we not helping it by ignoring the rules of the road, its a one way and a accident waiting to happen
  4. How do we know if its on or not?
  5. 21km gun run here in Windy CT
  6. @JB I inspected the rim and cant see any signs of distress or damage on the rim/carbon part. I've taken the wheel to one last shop here in CT and they rebuilt the wheel last week. Yesterday i went for a ride and guess what the shudder/vibration is still there. I've gone back to them today and left the bike there so lets see what they say. Will keep you informed otherwise i will have to wait till you come down in October and you can have a look. I am contantly swapping front wheels to see if its not something else on the bike but its gone when i use another wheel. TiBones, The spokes do not cross over it only appears like that in the photo, 10 on the left side and 10 on the right side equally spaced.
  7. The wobble is about 5cm from the one spoke not exactly half way between the two spokes. I also cleaned the brake surface and the brake pads were replaced last week. Just to double check i swapped wheels with my other bike which has a mavic aksium and the vibration is gone so it has to be the wheel.
  8. thanks for the advice will check tonight and report back
  9. Any advice would be appreciated. I have a set of 52mm Zefiro carbon clinchers. The front wheel is buckled and it causes a shudder and vibration when applying front brakes. I used another wheel to check. I've taken the wheel to 2 reputable bike shops in CT and no one can help me. First shop said the nipple is corroded and they not prepared to take a chance and true the wheel as it may break and they dont have spares. Second shop tried to true the wheel but its still the same. I called the bike shop again and they said its because the wheel has only 20 spokes and the area between the spokes is too big so they cant do anything else. I asked if respoking the complete wheel will make a difference and they said no. Does this now mean the wheel is useless or are there any other options available. Only problem is if i go to another 2 bikes shops they will charge me again Thanks
  10. I agree with Silverboy no one forced anybody to buy this kit What did they expect R500 will buy assos quality . Unfortunetly you had a bad experience where as many hubbers are raving about how comforable and happy they are with their kit.
  11. The price they charge to change batteries is a rip off. This past weekend i took my polar H/R monitor to Edgars Canal Walk and they charged me R30 to change the battery. Polar charges you over R140
  12. According to Phil Ligget on Cape Talk this afternoon he is racing and starting at 06:15am.
  13. Knowing cyclists we'll bitch and moan whole week about the wind but come sunday we'll be on the start line whatever the conditions are........ and that includes myself we suckers for punishment

  19. hi Nasser did not go for his chemotherapy last thursday because he had Flu. He will be going today for chemo as well as a lumber punch in his spine (medically referred to as CHOP) At the moment dr's are deciding how much chemo sessions per week and seeing how he responds to the treatment. This is the update I received from his wife. The family appreciate all the contributions received yesterday

  23. Thank you Mercx, much appeciated
  24. Hi Everyone This is a personal friend of mine for the past 7 years and a very keen cyclist too. I know its not easy posting something on the hub asking people for a small donation especially if you dont know the person. I can certainly vouch that every cent or rand received will be appreciated and used by the family. I do appeal to anyone that can assist no matter how small the amount. I'm sure some of the hubbers that rode Vets in CT about 3-5 yrs ago will know Nasser. He rode tandem regularly with his wife in the PPA rides...... that orange and yellow Tjommies kit will be recognised by the other mixed tandem couples here in CT. You welcome to contact me if you require any more details. PM me and I will send you the bank details Regards a Tjommie trying to help another Tjommie
