  1. I am happy to support financially any initiative in the Cornwall Hill / Irene area.
  2. Was bike jacked there 4 years back. Actually warned some people at about 11am yesterday to not ride in that area. Got ignored....
  3. Another option is the Big Red Barn, down the road towards Olifantsfontein from Irene Station. Lots of single track.
  4. How tough will this be compared to Cradle Mountain trophy or Route 66 race?
  5. Rode at Rietvlei Pretoria yesterday. Tracks have been fixed up nicely. Worth a visit for a 1 hour ride if you live nearby...
  6. +1
  7. Gee this was a late post. Would have done notification earlier...
  8. Can't access the Facebook link. Hope Nicholas is ok. Was it at the slightly secluded section as you turn off Nellmapius road on to Rynneveld avenue? Also ride this area almost every day...
  9. Did the 60km. It was a pretty flat, bushveld race. Two loops of a well marked course. Waterpoints can be significantly improved by maybe having energy drinks instead of just water. By the time I finished, food and drinks had run out. Overall it was ok....
  10. Any results out?
  11. Last 20km seriously tough. But overall a fun day. The normal thoughts "am I mad", "I want to bale" and of course "I'm never doing this again, ever" did cross my mind from time to time.
  12. My five cents worth on approaching this race, having done a few. If you are not doing regular training rides of over 1000m climbing, ride it like you cycling to the cafe to buy some smokes. Otherwise that last 20kms is a complete afkak!
  13. Hey. Last year the 75km had 1400m of climbing, fairly tough but not crazy. I think the 45 (which was cancelled last year through rain) is easier. Think it is a good stage race introduction, quite similar to the Route 66 experience in difficulty...
  14. Also rode last weekend. After the detour section it's perfectly fine...
  15. Forgot to enter for this event. Does anyone know whether they will accept entries on Saterday?
  16. Did the two day. I had a nice time, will definitely be back next year. Found it well organised and challenging enough. One comment please invite Spur, wimpy, nandos etc. as a lunch sponsor.
  17. All I can say about today is that it was a crazy, crazy last 40km. Easily 1000m climbing. Crazy.
  18. Some nice single track on other side of the road front Big Red Barn. Don't get to ride there normally.
  19. Does anyone have the contact details for organisers of this race? Can't find them anywhere.
  20. Have to say didn't know about this race until last week. Might be fun, but too short notice my Chinas...
  21. Condolences to all families. Have to say on my frequent visits to London, I have often thought that people must be crazy to cycle there. Too little road with too many cars, driving too fast...
  22. Painful. Strava told me I did a solid 21 minutes over that 1.5km single track section. Otherwise race was ok. Doubt I'll be back for a while. Next year it's the road race for me.
  23. Doing MTB race on Sunday. Anybody know whether we can pick up our races packs on the day of the race? Thanks.
  24. Strava told me the marathon climbing was 687m 67.2kms....
  25. Awesome organization. Nice route too. Enjoyed the cruise in the middle part of the race.... Have to say they could have skipped out the rocky section at Smuts House. But that's just me, as I dislike anything remotely technical.
