  1. Any news on the route profile? Very curious to see, as there is so much untapped potential in the Heidelberg area.
  2. Or see if we can set a record for crashing into the timekeeper table two years running.
  3. Will be aiming for a record, probably least number of laps. Geat fun! Now just to get those abnormal load signs made up (Team Fat Hairy Bastards not really known for XC prowess)
  4. I can't speak from an official point of view, as I have no connection with the organising, but the guys are busy with the course, and the dullest bit of last years course has been taken out, and more singletrack added.
  5. Anyone in for this year?
  6. OK, I'll qualify my statement by admitting that I did not do the race....but as someone who lives, rides and explores in the iarea I agree that adding Suikerbosrand to the name is a misnomer. There are more interesting opportunities available than pottering about the plotte.
  7. Good luck with that...must be frustrating.
  8. Also did my first 50 (well in 15 years) this week. 90% offroad. Does it still count as a 50 if 17 km was downhill? Or is that just called good planning?
  9. Have done one or two closer to Meyerton, mostly tracking the R59. One idea is to park at the Blockhouse Engen and explore from there. Exploring is half the fun!
  10. Matt Damon as the guy on the bike...Justin Bieber as the jumper that smashes his face and becomes hideously disfigured.
  11. Wankers....First Kortbroek and now Witbroek, what's Capetown coming to. Oh wait...
  12. No thanks.
  13. If it is illegal it is illegal. That's not the same as morally wrong. I think it is morally wrong, nay stupid, for anyone to PAY good money to advertise someone elses business. Why? If they want me to advertise their products/services they need to pay me. (of course they wouldn't but still)
  14. Can't imagine how that must affect the families involved...RIP.
  15. I like seeing the fatties. It's kinda reassuring. Like a mirror really.
  16. In this weather? Remember, the 'berg closes at 19h00, aandklokreel. Am looking forward to that beer now...and then Grootvlei tomorrow, it's flattish but should be good...
  17. Ouch, can't believe I read through all of that. So basicallly people are STRONGLY opinionated because someone had a strong opinion (whatever it/they are). This is so South African it hurts. Live and let live, or march to the JSE, or bitch to AfriForum. Its all the same.
  18. Thanks. It's called search function phobia.
  19. Being ever so slightly uninformed, what was the editorial about?
  20. Coke without a doubt leads to bonking. And delusional paranoia.
  21. Have ridden the Devon Nigel section, and while it has some trucks wasn't too bad. I don't know if the work on the Nigel/Delmas road up to the N17 has diverted more trucks to the Devon road...Gotta love coal trucks.
  22. Olympics definitely are not flash, but in terms of a starter pair I cannot fault them (price considered). The soles seem to be made of a pretty hard plastic, not rubber, and don't know how long they will last if you do a lot of walking...I've used them for 4 months since taking up MYB again after 12 years away from the dirt, and I can tell you that the starter pair of Shimano's I bought in 1993 (lace up jobs) and the starter stuff available now are worlds apart, for the better. By the way, if they don't smell after four monmths, am I doing something wrong?
  23. Dude, don't you understand, I was aiming for one of those top of the range Avalanche jobbies in the boxes. The man needs friends.
  24. Not perhaps a politician then, or do they not have a monopoly on poor judgement? Just wondering if he had been convicted of anything, if not some here are making defamatory statements, very publicly, in a forum where it is impossible to argue that his business will not suffer as a result.
