  1. Good evening ladies and gents I train with this young girl, and I think she has loads of potential. Currently she is in grade 11 and training at school but also weekly in the afternoon at the club. Today she ran 48min on a 10km race , I am thinking of helping her with training and programs and its fine with her parents, What I am asking is if any of you have an old Garmin, Suunto or any old unused watches that you want to donate? Can you please pm me or contact me at riaan1978 @ gmail.com She currently runs with just a normal watch and I think that if she can learn to keep proper time for starters she might improve hugely. I believe she is able to do a 4min per km pace with the right training. Thanks
  2. Did any of you do it today, There was more than 3000 entries in the 10 and 21km races, weather was perfect , food was lekker and i got a pb , next year i will be doing the 10km or the Amatola trail run thats also this weekend

    Rims

I know they are not the best and quite old, i never have problems with them but i think they migt be abit heavy Both wheels together weigh 4,7kg.s with tubless tyres on, Maxis cross mark, lust tubless tyres Would a pair of say meduim entry Dt swiss be any better or any other wheels you can recommend on the front hub it says shimano fh-m475 viam and the front only says scott components Is 4,7kg very heavy for 2 rims with tyres? Thanks

  8. Cappies, i never used the front brake either till i really forces myself to leqrn it on a normal bike Now that i am comfy to use it on my mtb it makes life easier, when you going down a massive hill and you still in a straigh line , 2 brakes gives you alot of breaking power I have never fallen of because of this and i use my front alot
  9. thanks for that info about the 305; i have ones that charges bit doesnt stay on, maybe i will just open it and check it out
  10. most of the races here have wet area in and it can be very wet at times, also alotof hills in the mountains so i need the good stopping power Thanks for all the help
  11. gotta gree their after service is bad, took me 6 weeks to swop out for a garmin that broke, the okes in jhb just took their time, then they sended my wife a new unit that lasted 1 day! Eventually she had to pay in an upgrade Ongelukking is die garmin die beste vir hardloop en ook meer akutaat as bv die polar waar jy n footpod moet gebruik, as polar uitkom met n goeie gps unit , gaan ek dadelik oor
  12. @ capet; yes and whats wrong with that Dont we all try and improve and get the bikes lighter and better for better racing My scott wasrebuilt on a spectra frame after it crackedon the knysna xterra; i am trying to get the total weight down and needs to know whats what
  13. Do any of you know how much this frame only weigh? I try to get some info online but it;s all complete bikes Thanks

  20. very nice looking bike
  21. Thanks for all the help and info, think i will upgrade to XT rotors, maybe big in the front and normal at the back I weigh 90kg so you okes think the resin pad will be the better option?
  22. Can you okes please tell me how rotors work , i see there is like 150mm and 180mm ect Can you use both on the same brakes? How does it work, then i see that you also get a 6 bolt and other ones my front rotor doesnt grip or brake smoutly and wears out more on the one side than on the other side so it probably time to replace it, my brakes are crappy anyway but for now they must just last a bit longer then the rotor surfaces can be dif obviously the more holes in there the less it weigh, but hows the braking power when the pad pushes on it compared to one with a bigger surface area and less holes in there, does it really make such a big difference like comparing these ones https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/11966-sold-blue-alligator-rotors/ to these ones https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/10093-2-x-shimano-sm-rt62-160mm-centerlock-rotors/ also when do you change out rotors and how long would it normally last? sorry for all the questions but i need to learn these things and sort my brakes out
