  14. Thanks , some big names there, lets see if they can keep the pace up all the way MY wife came 10th on the prologue, lets hope she does well, hoping for a sub 6 for her, it will be very hard but not impossible
  15. it called a pinch collar , we use it to train them up to 18months not to pull on the leash while you walk them and specially for the running part where we battle in the beggining with the training, specially the run left or right command Then we go back to either leather collar or normal chain, the leather stinks a bit from all the swimming so we normally just use the chain-at home i like to take it all off but you never know when they might go missing so its always nie to know there i a number on the chain the chains just work better than normal leather or material by the way i like your fineprint on your page When my wife runs the male she still uses the pinch collar, you have way better contole and we always have lots of trouble with free roaming jack russels so it just nice to controle the dog just imagine my 48kg wife getting pulled by my 55kg rottie,,lol the 2 of them really are best mates, if i didnt know any better i would have though they might be jointed at the hip
  16. Is there a way to work your fitness out this way? I did a 10km today( out in the tropics at the momet-Nigeria), i started fairly easy and increased my speed as i went, till at the end i was basically sprinting the last 1000M my heart went to 183max at this stage, then i stoppef and stanind still but not sitting my heart dropped to 145 beats p/m im 34 years old I am fairly fit , would just be nice if there is a formula or something like that so i can hace a basic idea Thanks

  19. i try and do 5 weeks straight, this is more with running and in the meantime i might do 2-3 times cycling, then i race saturdays either by bike or by running , sunday i will do a long training session fter church, then i will take of 2 days my next rainign session after this will be speed in running or climbing in cycling so you can recover slowly through the week while you do your other training anyway, this seems to work for me
  20. interesting although each okes is different i find that doing a hard ride or run and doing one the next day makes me stronger, on the second day you will feel more tired then you take 2 days of not one day, training like this just keeps improving my fitness
  21. @ kranswurm it happens on Friday and i had a ticket that i sold 2 weeks ago cause i cant make it so i would have been perfectly in time sunshine! Here,s the latest news.... Big guns gather for the Grail of Trail Rarely are there more than a handful of trail runners at any one event with the ability to take line honours. To put this into perspective, most events are a bit like a 100-metre final with Usain Bolt running against seven runners who didn’t qualify for the final. Now, for the first time, a local race will have 10 men with the ability to win the race, at the start. All eyes will be on these runners and the 4:48:53 race record when The Otter - African Trail Run presented by Hi-Tec starts on 30 September. This 42-kilometre trail run traverses the Otter Hiking Trail, a popular five-day hike within the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park. The Otter Run was first held three years ago and Iain Don-Wauchope broke the mythical five-hour barrier to win the race in 4hrs 59mins. Last year the race record dropped when John Collins ran 4:56:43. Collins’ reign as ‘Otter King’ was short lived. 24-hours later Andre Gie, taking part in the Southern Storm Duathlon, which began with the running of The Otter, set a new record of 4:48:53 when he finished only 12-seconds ahead of Don-Wauchope. Collins and Gie will be under pressure this year, surrounded by a half-dozen runners just as strong, fast and experienced – each with recent wins in credible trail races. They’ll be up against Rohan Kennedy, who won this year’s African X; Mark Preen comes off a win at the Hout Bay Trail Run; Jacques Mouton won the Outeniqua Traverse and Nic de Beer won the 80km PUFfeR. Bruce Arnett has the most distance experience in his legs with endurance honed from experience. Plett local, Victor Gugushi is the lightest of the runners with a speedy road background. If he takes care of himself and paces his race, he could be in contention. Greg Goodall is the dark horse of this race. A dedicated runner, his training has been specific and focused on The Otter, which may be the right formula to get him through the course ahead of the rest. Unfortunately Don-Wauchope won’t be running this year; he’s out with an injury. For the first time, Ryan Sandes, who has become the face of trail running in the media, comes to run The Otter. With Sandes in the picture, all eyes will be on him to challenge the record. In only three years he has become a high-profile trail runner on the international stage. His performances continue to strengthen as he transforms from a multi-day desert staged race runner to an exceptional ultra runner and his recent win at the celebrated Leadville 100-mile race in Colorado, USA, stands as proof of this evolution. The Otter will certainly be Sandes’ most competitive local race with its gathering of exceptional runners. “What a field!,” says race director Mark Collins. “The R5,000 reward, offered to runners breaking 4h30, by presenting sponsor Hi-Tec is certain to go to one of these guys. They all have speed, strength and the experience to really excel on this technical route and they’ll push from the start. In good conditions, with so many competitive runners upfront challenging each other, serious damage could be done to the current record making it far more difficult to better in coming years.” The 42-kilometre stretch of undulating Garden Route coastline is no walk in the park. Participants run above plunging sea cliffs and negotiate rock-strewn trails, sandy beaches, treacherous tree roots, gruelling climbs and at least three river crossings. The Otter - African Trail Run presented by Hi-Tec takes place on Friday, 30 September 2011. 22. you mentioned that you were using nikes, they have a very limited series for heavier weights Although it,s a big fasion brand they dont cather too much for heavier okes if you are over 80kg,s that might be one of your problems start to run slow short distances and if you get better you will see it improves your cycling massively
  23. Dale , such a lekker pic, looks like they rule the place Where did you get them from? Are they family and if you do have cats-how do they get along with them?
  24. lekker, dont care what the others say, jy het mos daai roete gery en die tye is veel beter overall you wont climb all the time in most races so this sounds like a good bike thanks for the info
