  1. So far looking pretty close with some big spenders over 100k.
  2. So far imports are in the lead!
  3. You guys still adding up? Got a link to an online calculator if you need?
  4. Geez ok, that is some serious cash!!!!!!
  5. With the CRC Biggest Sale ending this Sunday and the talk and frustrartion going on in the local industry I am interested to see what kind of figures we are talking about and just how much local shops are loosing because they are slow to adapt to they way things are changing and slow to follow the lead of shops like CWC. Anyway, 3 questions in the poll to get some ball park figures. Should be interestig if we get enough votes.
  6. I use a little trick with buying clothes and shoes online. First thing in the basket is usally the object they take for the import duties code. So I add a cheap bike part I need and then the clothing and shoes. Has worked pretty well so far not to be slapped with 20% for shoes from EU and 40% on clothing.
  7. Hehe, and to think how much they cost a few days back. Local shops must be k.king! I do laugh at that though even though I do also feel somewhat sorry for them prior to the major shake that the industry will need to have over the next few years.
  8. I don't care what anyone says. He is still my cycling hero!!! He beat everyone else, consistantly, and if he did dope, then they probably doped as well. It is a pity that the god's of sport are always floating under a dark cloud of contraversy.
  9. Just bought myself a pair of M240s on Chain Reaction for R1109!!!!!! Thanks for the advice. Sale ends Sun!
  10. Interested to know how many of you ride with the heat moldable shoes from Shimano. Such as the R300, M240, etc. I hear they are very nice. Much more comfortable than Sidi and the buckles don't break as easily on the MTB shoes during a fall compared to other brands. Any thoughts or experiences? Regards, The Break
  11. I was lucky. Apparently they sell for a little over 30k standard. I got this one with a Snake Skin Racing Ralph Tubeless upgrade and the cages and pedals for R19500 from some somewhat wealthy man who bought the bike in April, messed up his knee and was advised by doc not to ride anymore. Was such a good price I never even asked if it was negotiable. Bike was in prestine condition with only a few sratches where he had dropped his chain off the outside of the big blade.
  12. So I finally decided on a bike so as to move over to the Dark Side and start mountain biking. Here was the choice I made. Thanks for all the advice on the other thread.
  13. For offroad tri I would guess they are mostly not very technical courses. I wouldsuggest a 29er hardtail for this as that is the most efficient bike you can use on such a course and would probably not be too bad if you wanted to put slicks on for the odd road tri if you didnt have a road bike. 29inch wheels ARE faster than 26inch wheels on such courses.
  14. That will only work if you repeatedly redo threshold tests which is a bit pricey doing them every 4 weeks or so.
  15. Thanks. Will check this out. I would think though that the taper from say 5.5 to 2mm would be less than 150mm to cater for the shorter headtube such as on the 48-51cm bikes?
  16. Yes but on the same bike with the same rider wheels make a huge difference. Talking not seconds but minutes over 40km events and up if you got your nose in the wind.
  17. Thanks very much! I am guessing that because most lugs are pretty standard OD that most forks will be 2mm thick. All of the carbon forks I have are also 2mm thick. Anyone with road forks?
  18. Anyone else out there with an alu fork and a vernier?
  19. Does anyone know how the likes function works? I can see my profile has a few ikes, but not sure where they come from as I don't see an option for me to like someone back. Any advice?
  20. Thanks Droo. What fork is that?
  21. Hi. This is a very easy question to answer. All you need to do is base type training. I would not suggest you up your intensity at all from base type training, but rather up your mileage at a steady 10-20% per week to prevent overuse injuries so early on. Base type training is done at about 50-70% of your max heart rate. Look online at how you can test this on the bike. This is the fastest way for you to get fit for your race right now. Don't fall into the trap of upping your intensity or doing interval type training, it is a poor way of you getting back into shape for at least the next 2-3 months. Most of all, consistency is the key.
  22. Hehe, now that you mention it, it is rather funny.
  23. Hi Guys Need some help please. Busy with a special bike design and need to do some strength calcs to check forks will do the job safely and need to get some measurements. Does anyone here have a fork with an alu steerer and a vernier to check what the steerer tube wall thickness is? If you can also list the fork name and model I can then check which material it is an get some basic figures for my calcs. Thanks, The Break.
  24. Won't be buying from there anytime soon. The boss should have stuck around like the captain on his ship. He is responsible and should act as such. Rather spend your money where it is deserved.
  25. Hi Guys I read an article in a US Cycling magazine in 2010 were they tested a number of deep section wheelsets against each other. A mate of mine riding for a rival team was sponsored by HED and their whole team rode them whilst we had the Zipps. So it was a good laugh for him to show me this article where HED come out faster than the Zipps for the same depth of rim. The test used various wind angle and speeds and was done by the magazine who were impartial. I am trying to find a copy of this article and wonder if anyone else came across it and maybe has a copy for me?
