  1. Gordons Bay to Hermanus. Or Stellenbosch to Franshoek. I don't think it get more beautiful that that on tar.
  2. This is something I feel strongly about hence all my comments. Maybe one day our country and its people will mature to a point where we can call ourselves a 1st World Country and then hopefully we will have seperate roads for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. Everyone will work together for the good of all and the maturity will show in the attitude with which we tolerate each other in situations where things are not perfect. Until then all we can do is change ourselves and stay out of trouble and do what is right. Without this attitude SA will stay immature in its social essense and a properous future for ALL will not be attainable. It will remain a country filled with a people who on majority seek selfish gain and our lives will continue to be thwart with frustrating situations on roads, in public areas, in political arena and bascially anywhere where there is human activity.
  3. Sorry' date=' but clubs don't do anything about this. I've received a few letters from clubs stating that they can not be held responsible for what their members do. Believe it, or not.[/quote'] Maybe they cannot be held responsible. agreed. But they can take steps against members bringing their sponsor and club into disrepute when in club kit. It is like a school saying they cannot do anything about school children causing trouble in school kit. If this is what the clubs tell you then they have weak management.
  4. buy a road bike if you sweat when on a MTB.
  5. Do him a favour next time and show him your pistol. Don't worry, he will meet is match one day. He doesn't know that he will be the one coming off second best. It is the people like this we "wish" were the ones who get hit by the other idiots who do the hitting. Then all the innocent guys can just stay safe.
  6. For the top guys today they pretty much had fresh legs and in any case, no cyclist in the world is going to ride away from the Giro pack after 2 days rest and at the level they ride at. Race was fair and having Lance there added more to the bunch than not having him there. P.S. We had a Giro winner on Friday already. The Argus is not part of the Giro. Last stage was the hill climb. Lance would never had tried to win the Argus, it was all about gettinng Impey a home win and hence why Lance went with 1km to go in hope Impey could pull a sprint out. He unfortunately went too soon.
  7. Hey Scotty, if you can fit a gatorskin with wire bead with your hands to even 3 of 10 different sets of rims I will buy you a set. Reminds me of the guy who tried to beat the Break these Ligthweigth rims with your body and we will give you a set. Gatorskins although being bombproof must be the slowest and most user unfriendly tyres on the market.
  8. Not sure what they did with their compound on the Diamantes or the Rubino, but it is far superior to anything I have ridden.
  9. Spend a bit of cash and buy yourself some Vittoria Diamante Pro lite tyres from CRC. They last ages and are an awesome racing tyre. You will not be dissapointed in these. Gatorskins are not good for racing at all as they are a very slow tyre.
  10. A chain doesn't slip unless your gear settings are out!!!
  11. What do you wan them to do? Training and puncture protection or do you rather want them to be ligth and fast for racing? Or a mix?
  12. Right, headng out to scout his training routes. Operation Topsport Hero. Damn I laughed at that one. His codename can be Him-cappy or George for short.
  13. Hi Kelly Cyclelab have a group that trains on Sunday morning at I think 6h30 from the Walker drive Sasol garage. Normally a small bunch of between 6-12 guys and girls of differing ability. They avergae about 28-30km/h and if anyone drops behind they will wait up. It is a well disciplines bunch and everyone is pleasant. I can send you his number if you are interested. The Makro bunch has in the past been deemed a dangerous bunch. Seen many an accident and plenty of silly things from them with my own eyes. They will also not wait for you if you have mechanical or tyre problems and the route they ride will leave you in a not so nice area all on your own. I would suggest a smaller group. Also give Wayne Phfeffer's shop a call as they also have a small group that rides Sunday and are also a nice bunch of plenty people.
  14. Ok, then we need a 3rd person with a video camera for Youtube. Shucks, we had better plan it properly as if there is a robot I will have to stop and then he may actuallly catch me.
  15. Haha' date=' Dutch Cat, I can see how that one is going to go down. [/quote'] Just like his helmet??.. Not good! I would still love to snatch his cap off of his head and see him frantically chasing me to get it back. LOL, would be funny.
  16. I know' date=' that is why I was irritated cause it affects us all at the end of the day. I wouldn't care if he just wore no helmet, I see a few around but leave them alone, but I can assure you he is one of the reasons cyclists are targeted in our area. In fact he is probably a very big reason why we get targeted in our area. If he pisses off only 1 guy a day and you assume he has been riding for only 10 years, then there are at least 3650 people who are possible dangers to us. But, seeing the way he rides I would assume he alone is responsible for many more than that and that is a lot of people. Only a very small % of people will actually do something but if that is only 0.1% then you have at least 3 guys in our area alone who are probably on the edge of taking you out. That's something to consider.[/quote'] I agree 100% with you. If other people think that you are taking this issue to far then it is because they are probably guilty of the same thing. PS: next time you see him just tell him what a ?Dutch Cat? he is and what a good role model he is to the younger generation. Haha, Dutch Cat, I can see how that one is going to go down.
  17. There is a lovely afrikaans word that describes behaviour like that: "common" (need to give it a thick afrikaans accept when you use it though.)

  19. Ever heard of public pressure? The lack of it is the reason SA is getting so out of control. But you are right about one thing, it is outside my sphere of influence, just hoping that one of his fellow riders will read this and speak some sense into the old guy.
  20. Today's winner is again the old man in the yellow cap, excep this time he had a green cap. This time he enspired me with the skill of riding through a blatent red traffic light at the bottom of the Helshoogte pass. Blatent in the fact that it had been red for about 45sec, then he pedalled up to it, saw myself and about 10 cars waiting there and then just rode straight through. It changed to green about 10 seconds after it. I shouted words of encouragement at him: "Hey, you, get some discipline! Hey, I am talking to YOU on the bicycle." He looked back as if to recognise what an inspiration he is to us all. In a serious note, the guy next to me in the car said he would run him off the road for me a bit further up. I don't know what happend as I turned right there. You know there is a lot of talk about the age at which motorists should have there licenses taken away. I think there should be a system like that for cyclists.
  21. Don't you know roids makes certain body parts shrink.
