  1. You mean Cancellara right? That doesn't class as one component, that is like 5!!!!! ive motorbike engines.
  2. For purposes of this thread a single component can also be a set or group of something. I.e. a pair of gloves, Campy Super Record Groupset, etc. Just now whole bikes or a whole lot of parts. Good examples: Pedals Wheels Frame Seat Seatpost Power-meter GPS A hot model in a bikini to wash your bike (ooh I should have thought of that one sooner. Better call my patent attorney!)
  3. For sure!!! You got a nice pic?
  4. the Speedplay/MetriGear powermeter pedals. What would yours be?
  5. I a willing to help if I am fully kitted out with a long range riffle and given free range on any potential poachers. No questions asked, just in and out each day.
  6. Riding in the Giro and then riding with Lance in the Argus!!! Low point, getting dropped by Lance.
  7. If it is, then I am glad I finished up there before they tried to snip me. Actually, on second thoughts I could have ended up a few pounds lighter. Have they closed the dam off too I take it? I was hoping to go there this weekend.
  8. You lucky Johan Bornmann didn't see your comment there and that I am in a good mood today. Chains do not stretch.
  9. ... need to change this all.
  10. That would be the most unlikely of causes and nearly impossible to achieve. It is 99.99999999% the derailler set-up. Happens to me often enough with all the mileage I do and number of cables I change.
  11. Take it back and have them reset the gears. This is a very normal result from poor settings. Even better. Learn how to set the gears yourself, because most shops tune on a tuing stand which can be different to when you ride the bike. I normally tune up on a stand then take it for a ride. If it shifts up nicely but down poorly then turn the little finger nut at the rear derailler a quarter turn clockwise until it stops. If the other way round then counter clockwise. There are other factors to consider such as system wear, but generally it is poor setting.
  12. Maybe you just a fit guy who is over-trained? You get enough rest days in?
  13. You right man. Trying really hard at the moment, but I guess my comments have been a bit rude lately. Unfairly. Sorry guys! Will try and keep the frustration where it belongs.
  14. I thought those would get eaten in China?
  15. Like I said, try and find out if they have good field experience and who designed them. Maybe they are well known and used in other countries to good effect.
  16. Hi Guys and Girls Interested to hear how you all set up your saddles and what type of saddles they are. Probably a topic that is not often discussed and which is not well known. My coach gave me a 30 min lecture on saddle setup the other day and I was amazed. Didn't know there was so much to it. Interested to see what else everyone knows?
  17. In a nutshell, you get many different type of carbon fibre ranging from cheap (generally bad) to expensive (generally good). You also get design engineers that know how to design with carbon and those that do not not. You also get manufacturers who are good at working with carbon fibre and those that are bad at working with carbon fibre. When you put these three factors together you get 8 effective classes of carbon parts: Bad designs which are badly manufactured using bad materials. Bad designs which are well manufactured using bad materials Bad designs which are badly manufactured using good materials Bad designs which are well manufactured using good materials Good design which are badly manufactured using bad materials. Good designs which are well manufactured using bad materials Good designs which are badly manufactured using good materials Good designs which are well manufactured using good materials So, you basically can see that there is only one effective class which you may want to try and stick to. Personally, I try and stick to buying parts that are proven in the field. I.e. I see them being used extensively by others with good reviews and even tests. Personally I buy parts that I can afford and that are very well proven on the same level as which I wish to use them or higher. I would only suggest purchasing carbon parts which have very little positively known field experience if you are willing to take the chance with your money should they fail. And hopefully not fail and cause injury. Good and safe designs are always backed up with a proper design procedures and testing. Unless you can find proof that this has taken place stay away from them. Engineers study for many years to understand what needs to be done to design parts that will function correctly. Be careful of marketing BS as well. Such as, did you know that this frame is made in the same factory as the ..... (some great make is mentioned). The factory does not depict how good a design is. Take for instance the Citi Golf, it was manufactured in the same factory as the Golf 5 GTi for some years, however the design was 30+ years old and a far cry from the GTi with all the safety features, etc. Hope this gives you a small insight.
  18. I think you should take a course in English and use words that are actually in line with what you mean.
  19. Great idea! If I may comment, please make sure the fork's rake is the correct one for the frame.
  20. Actually I would think it was a wake-up call to many here. Besides, did I ever claim to be? My point was hipocracy, something that permiates through into any culture or religion and would affect probably 90% of the people on the Hub. Point being, we all moan about others, but then ourselves go and do things we shouldn't. What that plank and splinter saying?
  21. Agreed, but I am assuming he has set his stops correctly and all is set up as it should be. He didnt change gears and a derailler should drop vertically in a jump so there should be no reason for it to get caught in the spokes in a normal situation. Besides, if he is jumping then he would most probably not be in his lightest gear.
  22. Jonquil Can you send me a photo of the ystem at the rear? I would like to have a look at it. Do a loto of design work so would be interested to see if I could come up with a solution.
  23. your TheHUBSA page takes 15 seconds to reload.
  24. I agree, but only when you deal with South Africans. I had my frame replaced under warranty in the USA and they did not even ask me for proof of purchase. Slap, bang, thank you mam. New frame. And it was a loose pop rivet on the deraillier. USA work way different so there is a chance if he works through the right channels and tries to cut SA dealings out.
