  1. I managed to find a great deal in SA but it seems there is a few that are keen to order so get in touch with the relevant posters on this thread..
  2. I ride an 11-23 and am enjoying it a lot, although I must say I very rarely go into the bottom gear during a TT/Triathlon so I could very well get away with a 12-25. I know I would definitely appreciate the 25 on the wall and through Van Staadens for PE riding I think the 12-25 will be best with a 52/39 on front. If you are going 54 big blade on front then the 12-25 will be best, in my opinion
  3. Keen to maybe order some bars and this special looks too good to pass up, anyone need to order? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=41423
  4. I have a Profile Design Cobra Wing Base Bar (Carbon) that I would like to swop for a road bar, preferably carbon as well but I am not stressed, it has a few scuffs where the stem and bar extensions clamp on..
  5. fully agree with you, 'something for the masses' always kills the appeal of a high end brand, kind of like the US Dollar.
  6. ITU and ICU rules are completely different, then you have the complications of drafting and non-drafting which incorporate different sets of rules. simply put expecting one license for all events is like expecting a F1 license cause you have a drivers license.
  7. Triathlon, Running and Cycling are all run by different governing bodies and considered as different sports. It's like saying if I pay membership at a particular golf club then I can go to a walking event without a license because they both involve walking. I guess it is the same as a car driving license, you have different costs and tests for different types of vehicles. I agree with you though it would be great if it was all under one banner!!
  8. haha! there is a Gravel Road race in PE on the 28th August. Going to be in PE for the weekend for a wedding, looks like a good race to try the CX thing? http://www.masterspe.co.za/GravelRoad/index.htm
  9. Very valid point Tankman, in an attempt to validate my post may I give some background: I have provincial colours in Triathlon and Road Cycling, have been the U23 TT Champion for my Province. Have raced BMX competitively as well a explored some freestyle (mostly street, to be honest the vert scared the hell out of me) for about 4 years. Have been racing MTB for a few months now which is rapidly becoming my favourite (don't tell my roadie buddies I said that) so now I am keen to try the Cyclo X thing. with this particular race coming up I thought it would be a great time cause it is not technical at all. the other one I guess is downhill but I need to grow a pair before I attempt that
  10. Thanks Brad Judging by your signature I am guessing you're one of the ATC guys
  11. that's impressive!!
  12. haha I got a '1' on the FCN Calculator...
  13. anyone keen to race on Bree Street let me know, I'll make it fair, I'll be on a BMX
  14. haha! my average speed while commuting is very often faster than my morning ride my race involve cars though, there is one particular jeep that takes the same route as i do and it has become an unsaid race between the 2 of us to see who can cover the 8.9km's the fastest. thanks to traffic i usually win
  15. if someone can win a MTB race on a Cyclo X bike with no suspension and much thinner tyres how does that make the MTBers look? a bicyclist is a bicyclist!! who cares what the preferred geometry or terrain is... all I care about is if one can complete a race and get away with using a 'faster' bike because it's not too technical, then go ahead. the race in question is aimed at trying to grow Cyclo X in the country but the roadies are too scared of getting their bikes dirty so it is becoming a MTB focused race. you can't call yourself a cyclist if you only attempt one of the disciplines your entire life, my 2 cents *gets out the popcorn*
  16. the embark website looks fantastic. just what I am looking for
  17. of course, I didn't think of that! bummer!
  18. there is a MTB race coming up which has been termed as a gravel road race with some tar in it and I am keen to race it on my road bike as there isn't much technical stuff. Does anyone have any experience with Cyclo Cross tyres? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!
  19. Thanks Gadget. 5 weeks and counting! cant wait!!
  20. Top of the morning to you all, I am re-locating to Cape Town in the next few weeks and I will be looking for a Triathlon Club to join and train with. Anyone on The Hub in a club in CT? Any suggestions? I will be staying in the City Bowl area. The Atlantic Triathlon Club looks pretty rad, they seem to be the most organised with club training sessions. Any organised cycling club rides in the week before work? Shot for any suggestions!
  21. It's a conspiracy, the doctors know they'll make more money stitching up peoples brains if they don't wear helmets. I wonder if they would feel the same way if it is their kids on the bikes??
  22. thanks most helpful!! I am moving to CT, gona be staying in the city bowl so keen for a BMX to get around, anyone in CT know they will let you take a BMX onto a MiCity bus? Apparently they have space for Prams so I guess it could fit in there
  23. Howsit, I am keen to get a BMX but I am looking for something different and punk looking, not keen for a generic Mongoose from Sportsmans Warehouse type vibe. Where is the best place in SA for a BMX hat also has a wide range of accessories like different colour anodised pegs etc. It will be used for jolling around and commuting to work/shops while railing down staircases etc Keen for something like this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Images/Models/Original/54796.jpg
