  1. man, who wants to go on a trip to Oman! with roads like this I am sure it is a matter of time before they have a MTB tour of Oman...
  2. My word I have to ride this!! http://www.cabex.co.za/blog/links/gallery3.jpg
  3. I managed to find contact details for Stallion Bicycle Couriers in Cape Town - City Bowl. going to give them a call later.
  4. Hey Simpy! did you find out more info? I am seriously considering starting one up..
  5. that's THE most pointless hack ever!!!
  6. you also need to figure out what discipline of Triathlon you want to do! I have been racing tri for 3 years and I haven't done a 70.3 or IM. I prefer the Olympic Distance because as my good friend Ricky Bobby says, "I wanna go faaaast." I get so frustrated when people ask me about tri when they find out I take part, they always so, 'oh so you do the Ironman.' it drives me insane! it's ok to just do the sprints and maybe 1 Olympic. don't let 'performing' pressurise you or will lose the love for the sport. stick with what you enjoy, if 70.3 is really something you want to tackle go for it but don't be scared to take it slow. I raced my first Oly Dist. after 14 months of Sprint Distances. I still get asked when I am doing IM but I ignore it, when I am older I will tackle it for sure but for now I am happy doing what I enjoy. long story short, stick with what you enjoy and what you are comfortable with. and stuff what everybody else thinks!!
  7. Firstly there is a BIG difference between 'Soft-tail' and 'Hard-tail' I am and always be a hard-tail fan. I know technology is advancing but I cannot stand even the slightest bit of flex and bounce in the frame!!
  8. I don't race downhill but in XC I use both brakes, just put your weight back as Grebel said or you will buy some land somewhere in front of your bike!
  9. judging by Grebel's avatar thingy he seems to be the authority on the matter, I would do whatever he says
  10. contact Angie Tel: 011 465 4555 Cell: 083 258 2100 Fax: 086 666 9262 Email: angie@club100.co.za
  11. sorry, I mean the Club is from JHB but they come to PE and ride from PE
  12. Microsoft Club 100 from JHB ride it every year, around January / February. Get in touch with them, they have A and B groups with back up vehicles, plus they arrange all the accommodation etc.
  13. you will lose leg speed because of the decrease in Cadence but you will definitely gain in strength. A speed session of 30k or so once a week at a cadence of 100 - 110 rpm will help you keep your leg speed with the extra strength..
  14. WOW I will definitely be keen! I will be living in Cape Town after 5 September
  15. the more you ride the hills the further up you will be able to stay seated! try using a bigger gear than normal on the 'smaller/easier' climbs to help build strength. It's all about conditioning. you've already won half the battle by getting out there and getting on the hills.
  16. I am not Muslim but I fast according to my religion and I must agree with you on the following day being quite tired. on the plus side it helps with cutting those last few pounds
  17. that's where I got it from cant seem to figure out cost either?
  18. that's what I was thinking but with all the tech advances over the years, surely if there was an advantage of having it on the left they would've come up with it by now...
  19. This looks pretty legit!!! Even though it is international I think if enough SA people join it could seriously work!! www.bikeshepherd.org
  20. So during my ride last night I got to wondering some pretty random stuff (as what usually happens when I ride on my own) and I got to thinking, Why is the drive train (cranks, chain, cassette etc.) on the right hand side of the bike? I mean was just put there cause the first guy liked it there or is there an intelligent reason to having it on the right hand side?
  21. does riding at 3h30am count as 'night riding' ??
  22. i have ridden till 1am with a 150 lumen light ....
  23. It must be a very interesting place in your mind
