  1. Thanks for all the input guys. Question answered.
  2. Hi There Anybody out there training with a different set up to what they race with? I am referring to wheels and clusters. Are the benefits very noticeable?
  3. thanks they are both 10 speed, so should not have a problem then!
  4. thanks, and as for the gearing settings? would any adjustment be required? would the rear derailleur need adjusting? Surely training on a 11 - 25 would potentially increase strength / performance?
  5. Hi There Need some advice on a cluster question. I am in the process getting a new set of wheels - they come with a 11 - 25 cluster. My current set up has a 12 - 28 cluster. I am wanting to use the 11 - 25 on my current wheels as a training wheel set, what I need to know is whether I can just swop the wheels at a whim? Or will my settings need to be adjusted whenever I do the swop?
  6. From the responses, i gather i should steer clear of the Shimano brand?
  7. Thanks for the input guys, also conscious of 'over capitalising lr over speccing 'my bike, riding a scott speedster , but i guess a good wheelset is a good investment as well.
  8. I haven't had any problems whatsoever on the current wheels - had Alex rims and got rid of them as I was breaking spokes like it was going out of fashion.
  9. Hi Guys Need some advice, I am thinking about getting a new set of wheels - but really don't know where to start! I currently have a set of Shimano RS10's which have served me well for the past two and a half years. I am not looking to spend more than R4000. Looking for something durable ( weigh +- 97kg) and with a good road feel / roll. Is my price range too low for a decent wheel upgrade? I've seen some deals on CRC for Easton 70's for R3300 a set, also a whole range of Shimanoo RS's .
  10. Have a Maranello machine, imported from Italy, good coffee, has a steam wand for frothing as well. Works with the pod system though. They sell for about R2500.
  11. Lol, have to agree on that front.
  12. He does it AGAIN. Well done, Wimbledon title no.7, grand slam no. 17. World no.1 once again
  13. Lol, not really concerned about the weight, more about the quality of materials, resistance to corrosion, durability etc.
  14. Hi i am wanting to know what are the fundamental differences between the different shimano road cassettes. I currently have a tiagra cassette and chain with 105 shifters etc. What would the benefits if any be in upgrading these to the 105 cassette and chain as well?
  15. Thanks, will be sure to make contact if i decide to buy.
  16. Hi I saw these tyres for sale at CWC, selling for R260 anybody have any experience with these tyres? Currently have continental gp4000s, but replacement is a bit pricey at the moment.

  18. I have had the rs800cx for close ob a year now and have been extremely happy with it. Has not let me down yet. You'll get alot of opinions re. Polar vs. Garmin as well, at the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference i guess. If you get the gps along with the wrist unit, you'll get all the data you need. I have both and it works like a dream. Do some research on the net as well.

  20. What would be the best way to improve one's bunch riding skills? Does this come with time? Doing lots of races? Riding at Killarney?
  21. okay, so i think i might have over did it a bit! my left knee is swollen and currently resembles a grapefruit, no pain though, just swollen. is this normal for first time runners due to the new activity? Have to say i have started running hills from the get go, maybe i should have started the flats first? am also quite a heavy runner - 100kg's + will be taking a few days off to hopefully get the swelling down, but would it be okay to still do some running/walking on flatter terrain perhaps? i have entered a trail race this Sunday, so i am hoping to at least get out once before then.
  22. any advice on how i should build mileage? did 10km as a start on Sunday, granted was a mixture of walking and running, just finished 7.5km today. i am thinking of doing 10km again this Sunday or should i push for some more?
  23. yeah, thanks, my feet (metatarsals) have taken a bit of a beating, so will take 2 days off to give them a break
  24. So, I did my first trail run/walk this morning! felt great. feeling a bit "battered " but will hopefully not be too sore tomorrow.
