  1. I have had the rs800cx for close ob a year now and have been extremely happy with it. Has not let me down yet. You'll get alot of opinions re. Polar vs. Garmin as well, at the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference i guess. If you get the gps along with the wrist unit, you'll get all the data you need. I have both and it works like a dream. Do some research on the net as well.
  2. What would be the best way to improve one's bunch riding skills? Does this come with time? Doing lots of races? Riding at Killarney?
  3. okay, so i think i might have over did it a bit! my left knee is swollen and currently resembles a grapefruit, no pain though, just swollen. is this normal for first time runners due to the new activity? Have to say i have started running hills from the get go, maybe i should have started the flats first? am also quite a heavy runner - 100kg's + will be taking a few days off to hopefully get the swelling down, but would it be okay to still do some running/walking on flatter terrain perhaps? i have entered a trail race this Sunday, so i am hoping to at least get out once before then.
  4. any advice on how i should build mileage? did 10km as a start on Sunday, granted was a mixture of walking and running, just finished 7.5km today. i am thinking of doing 10km again this Sunday or should i push for some more?
  5. yeah, thanks, my feet (metatarsals) have taken a bit of a beating, so will take 2 days off to give them a break
  6. So, I did my first trail run/walk this morning! felt great. feeling a bit "battered " but will hopefully not be too sore tomorrow.
  7. hi i would like to know the difference between the shimano br - r561 brakes(came with bike) and the shimano 105's is it worth the money to replace my brakes with the 105's?
  8. was thinking about that! saw somewhere that one should never stretch a "cold " muscle?
  9. thanks guys will take it easy in the beginning to give the tendons etc a chance to adjust. admittedly i am not a great stretcher but will have to change this behaviour when running.
  10. thanks for the input. i think I'm definitely going to give it a shot.
  11. hi, thanks for the advice- you're right, need get the tendons etc used to the activity
  12. yeah. am definitely over the 80kg,hence i am leaning towards trail as opposed to the road surface. dont do mountain biking though .
  13. hi do you find that trail running benefits your cycling? looking to take it up.
  14. Hi I recall reading a while ago that running ,in particular trail running is beneficial to cyclists. Can anybody shed some light on your experience.? I am looking to get into this during the wet weather season and also not too keen on road running due to the unforgiving road surface.
  15. i know its been said before, i feel it's necessary to commend these guys for outstanding service... called no less than 3 bike shops in my area on Saturday to do a quick wheel true while i waited, and could not be accommodated, called them who said i should pop in then drove all the way to cwc which is way out of my way, they fixed it in no less than 10 minutes! then ordered some pedals from them yesterday only to get a call stating that my choice of pedal wasn't available - could they replace for one better at no extra cost! i mean really! to top it all ,free delivery for orders over R500, my order also arrived today! why would anybody want to go anywhere else?
  16. forgot to mention, preference is new, and this goes for R11500, which is at my ceiling.
  17. Hi any opinions on this bike? comes with full shimano 105 i am looking to purchase a bike with a decent alloy frame and component set up - is this a good choice?
