  1. Took this route yesterday morning. I must say that there was a definite sense that motorists were more patient. Cars were waiting behind us on the narrow bits, despite us hugging the curb. Also gave us a wide berth when overtaking. Anybody else have similar experience? This was also at quite a '' busy'' time of day - around 10 am.
  2. Hi anybody use use this product before? Any reviews?
  3. For me, the best approach, is just to be super cautious and take NOTHING for granted. I cycle as if vehicles don't see me, even when you have right of way, there's always somebody looking to take a gap / underestimating your speed.
  4. Apologies for the hijack. Johan I am trying to send you a PM, but for some reason I am unable to do so, please can you please forward me your email address. Once again sorry to posting off topic.
  5. Have to agree there - they're dodgy! Asked for a price for something the other day, the "salesman" asks one of the owners for the price and I overhear him ask " For who?". I'll spent there in the past, but will think twice going forward.
  6. +1 on that comment. Wheels are the real factor for you. Rather spend a bit more upfront on a decent set - wouldn't really worry about the weight of the wheelset - look for durability. Mavic Kysriums are well known for being durable - but don't take my word for it - do a search ( hub and internet) and you'll get all the peace of mind you're looking for. mind you, I was 110kg+ when I started on Alex Rims - was breaking spokes like you don't want to know! Got myself a set of Shimano RS10's and haven't looked back since - wheels are still true and have yet to have any spoke issues.
  7. have been using for three weeks now - I don't have a power meter, so I guess this device is for people like me, definitely gives your training another dimension.
  8. damn - quite a scathing assessment! Glad I never got one. Anyone else have a similar story to tell?
  9. +1 new system is awesome! Took me all of 10 minutes at 13h00 I was entry 8000 + so definitely filling up quickly, better be safe than sorry.if you ask me.
  10. His details renaygroustra@yahoo.com
  11. Hi your best option is Renay Goustra, he operates out of Epic bike shop in Plumstead. Do a search for his details. You will not be sorry, well worth it.
  12. Thanks, also potentially considering the loop near Ladies Mile road. At least its flatter.
  13. Yes.I would definitely prefer to still have the info available via Polar.
  14. I will only require a device to enable the Power cal to work / communicate, so I will not require a speed sensor, I already have speed, cadence, and GPS through my polar, so what cost would I be in for in that case?
  15. Okay, to enable this, I will have to wear two HR straps, I assume there won't be any interference issues?
  16. Thanks, but don't have one, might have to borrow. Anybody else with input?
  17. This approach seems very interesting , however i have a polar and can therefore not sync with the power cal. What is the cheapest ant+ device out there that i could get that would enable me to use the power cal? currently have a polar rs800, with the GPS, so already have all the other info i require .
  18. Hi There Can anybody recommend a good area in Cape Town ( Southern Suburbs) where I can do a 10km time trial / lactate threshold test? Looking for a spot where I can go flat out and not have to worry too much about vehicular traffic. So basically an area with not too many side streets.
  19. Hi not meaning to derail your thread, but a real noob when it comes wheels etc. What does a wheel service entail and what is the purpose? How often does one need to do it? Does it apply to all wheelsets. I have a set of Shimano Rs10's and a set of mavic ksyriums . Wouldn't want the same thing to happen to me.
  20. but surely training with a cluster, say less suited to climbing, which is then swopped out for one more condusive to climbing in a race, will result in an improved performance?
