  1. @Dirt-rider. Interesting about the kendas. Are you riding tubeless version or the non tubeless version gheto style. Could also be what type of Slime they use. Seems Singletrek wishes he was riding with us at the 3 towers. Ah well at least his wife will be there with us :-)
  2. Are the Kenda Karmas good on the dry and the wet?
  3. Sounds interesting. I don't think I will let the girlfriend know about the showers cause we will be coming in when it's cold already.... What tires were you guys using? Is there lots of loose stuff on the uphills?
  4. Man up, ha ha........ Shall see you there :-) Have to admist I am doing the shorter one though as I am testing my relationship with my girlfriend to it's limit, as this will be her first stage race having just started riding. Get through this one and I may have a winner on my hands :-D (and i get to sleep in a tent with her...)
  5. I have had nothing but great service from them. Ordered last week monday and changed my mind on the colour of the helmet just as I placed the order. Emailed them and within 30min the helmet was changed on the order. Recieved my goodies on the wed :-) Another friend went to order a heartrate monitor strap which was on the site before they closed it. When they opened the site again it was not there so she emailed them. Straight away the strap was loaded onto the site so she could place her order. excellent service.....
  6. Hi,, Trying to figure out what price to sell a set of 2008 Shimano Duel Control shifters/calipers/rotors and Rear LX Derailer for. Friend changed over to SRAM and now wants to sell them to another friend, but we have no idea what sort of price it may be worth. Any Ideas?
  7. Awesome race. Rode with my GF for a change so had fun. Nice and technical. Fixed a few mechanicals for people (couple of chains), so hope they got back on their way. I have photo's along the route, here are the race numbers, so PM me if you want them. Unfortunately it may not be the best place for a photo, most were at the top of the hill at the mine dump :-) 27239 24263 2423???? (Male) 24485 27204 25373 23743 27081
  8. Hee Hee nolipoli, I like how you will choose cajees over CL and FP, at least at cajees you know what to expect. In Sundowner there is a small shop called cyclist workshop 073 261 7483. 1 man show, very good at setting your bike up and great prices.
  9. I have been there a few times as a last resort and every time left empty handed. The reason is the way they prices things. Ask for double the price, but when you tell them they are crazy, they reduce it drastically. Once they have done that there prices have still been crazy, whcih I have told them and walked out. One solution is to do some research on costs etc before you buy, and also know what you need to buy. Cajees is not the only shop that has elevated prices, I can think of a few around the corner. U can go to one and buy Joes for example for R180 or go a few km down the road and buy it for R129. Just do some research. I have to be honest, one has to be a little crazy for even thinking you could take a bike to then for a service :-) But then again a bike shop just around the corner is not much better in bikes services, but that story/stories would take up way too many threads. The end solution was to just do it myself.....
  10. I am going with weight weenie on the sitting on the guys wheel. Do you ride a GT :-) That could also be the problem why your stuck riding on the guys wheel.
  11. I think the SAS (myn cycling board) cost about R30
  12. I got Carla to send me the documents on how they seed you. The longer the race the higher the weighting. Also your 3 best race results are taken into consideration. Then as time goes by the less weighting a race that you did well in say 2009 becomes... The formula used to determine a participant?s average index per Index Type (e.g. Gauteng index type) is as follows: Weighted Average = W1(Ri1 + Wt1(Ri1)) + W2(Ri2 + Wt2(Ri2)) + W3(Ri3 + Wt3(Ri3)) + ... + Wn(Rin + Wtn(Rin)) W1 + W2 +W3 + ... + Wn W: Positional Weight Ri: Race Index
  13. The last race I did in Kzn I got seeded in the LAST batch. But then again it helps to Pre enter :-( I passed some 360 odd people that day, and came about 52. My worst results this year so far...... But as I said I have given up, so i will race to get to the beer tent and laugh about the race with mates afterwards :-)
  14. Ah but spectrum sport for starters has their own list of problems at nearly every race I have been to. Somehow they always seem to get it wrong, even with your SAS board or one of their own boards. Roag on the otherhand with their Mr Price chips seem to be pretty spot on, and quick. Registration is quick, just scan your chip get a goodie bag. Wish I lived in Kzn :-(
  15. Ha Ha don't get me started on the MTB seeding problems. So far this year I have done 5 races all of which the SA cycling guy has been at the front saying this is a SAS race and goes on for an hour about the rules etc (interesting last year head phones were banned, the last race we were advised not to use them and get used to not using them as they are going to ban them. Out of the 5 races they have loaded 1 into the system. These races go back to March this year. And the one race they added was the one I decided to have an easy day and ride with my girlfriend. D batch here I come.......... I have been enquiring lots of times if the races will get loaded I am told they will be. I finally gave up 1.5 months ago. I have even been sent 2 documents on how the system and seeding is calculated. One part where it fails is if a person has only done one race. They take your ave from your best 3 results. I have done races where I have beaten someone, but because that person has only done 1 race they have a higher seeding. Guess all we can do is go there, ride and have fun. At least the beers should be cold at the end :-)
  16. Please let them build it, makie needs a salary increase so he can buy the ibis frame :-)
  17. Did the adventure, awesome race. Pity the fastest thing since then has been me running to the toilet. Was man down for 2 days. My doc reckons it's a common Ecoli that hikers get all the time. 1 day of antibiotics Woef, it just proves that lots of jagermeister after the race does not fix any stomach bug......
  18. I don't want to open a topic Roadies vs MTB's but in general the MTB's do seem to be more aware of litter on the track. I hardly do any road races but doing the Kormorant this weekend, one person threw a tube while fixing a puncture into the bushes and while riding behind another, he used his gel and threw the empty packet into the bushes. It's those kinds of acts that stop farmers/land owners from letting us through their lands. All you have to do is ride along our roads to realise how much litter is thrown down. Lets not let cyclist be part of that....
