  1. To anyone who has EVER cr@pped on a pig for dropping papers:
  2. thats like saying there's no diesel tank on my petrol car. directx is a bunch of drivers and frameworks specifically for windows. the open equivalent is openGL Yeah I know' date=' what I ment was no DirectX which means I cant play all my games[/quote']WRONG! There is DirectX = from Crossover and wine...
  3. Yeah - that's why Bill Gates says he wants Windows to be like a drug - easy to get onto, but impossible to get off. It can quite frustrating (and was very frustrating then), but now I tear out my hair everytime I have to use a Windows box. There's NO apps with it (Linux gives you office suites, games, programming tools, frikkin' EVERYTHING out of the box). I look at a Windows box and wonder what the hell I can do with it. The frustration is that some software will ONLY run under Windows (my Garmin stuff, for example). It's frustrating keeping a Windows box alive purely to get my GPS software updated! I can download from the Garmin to Linux, but not do the software updates....
  4. I've been using Linux since 1999. Don't care for Windows - it's boring. Get yourself a "distro" (distribution) such as Fedora, OpenSuSE or Ubuntu and try that. I have my kids and parents on it and they are happy. Lots of free software and no viruses or spyware. You can even download "Live" CDs where you can run the OS from a CDROM without installing it to your PC to try out. 5. They took your X-box? Silly buggers. At least you can hope it's one of the 40% that will red ring on them!!! As for "secure" complexes - they are only as secure as the most insecure tenant...
  6. gtr1, you should then not have mentioned it on an open form. My tuppence: Agreed. People are a little too quick to cast aspersions when they are hiding behind a pseudonym. If you can't back it up under your own name, don't say it...
  7. I service my bike myself, so have only myself to blame if something breaks. It's also much more convenient. If you're in the Westdene Cycles area, the three LBSes I know guys are happy with are (in alphabetical order!): - Dunkeld Cycles; - Linden Cycles; - Mike's Bikes.
  8. Rule no 1: - NEVER make up rules.
  9. I went there a long time ago, so I can't comment on them now. One rule for CycleTech: - NEVER p*ss off Marco. jmaccelari2009-10-21 05:54:08
  10. I drove around quite a bit during the Shova (after I had finished) and there were quite a few spots accessible. I think the problem more how does one get to them when one doesn't know the area too well. The most accessible ones were near the motorway (Camperdown/Kloof/...)
  11. Two rules: - NEVER service your bike at Westdene; - NEVER service your bike at Cajees.
  12. Now for my tuppence: Knowing Andrew (as opposed to those who tend to not know him and who are the ones who tend to cast aspersions on his character from a point of complete ignorance), he is the most professional cyclist in SA - and that includes all the "Pro" riders in the Elite bunch. Add that to natural talent and 30 years of training and the rest of us might get there some time... I'm not talking about him personally - some like him some don't. But you have to admire the guys as a cyclist.
  13. My bet's on Burry - there's no way Andy will be able to bunny hop those ****ing timing mats at the finish!
  14. The guy had a Soweto-American accent and was rather annoying. They also had him at the Zoo Lake Crit. If I had gotten my hands on that broken Pinarello, I swear I would have taken him out with it. His inane babble before and during the prize giving...
  15. Yep - I'm afraid that's my experience as well. I ordered some Assos stuff that was taxed to way above what a local price would have been. The problem was that I couldn't get it locally...
  16. Yep - the one and the same! PR spin all that way!!!
  17. Ja-nee. The problme is I enjoy the race! What pees me off is that I chatted to Annie and congratulated her on a great race and told her I had some suggestions to make it better. She then basically told me to stuff off... I suppose she was busy.
  18. Illovo Cycles closed down about 3 months ago... Oops!! Learn't something new...ta!You weren't one of their regular customers, I take it? jmaccelari2009-10-19 00:27:06
  19. Is MTB in Rosebank similar to off road in Sandton in a Range Rover?
