  1. WOW! Those moutains are looking so nice for training right now
  2. You weigh 75kg's that's 166lbs. The formula I use says that you should aim to ingest half gram of carbohydrate for each pound of body weight during the 30 minutes after you get off the bike. Meaning that you weigh 166lbs, devide that by 2 and you get = 83grams. You should take in 83 grams of carbs in the 1st 30 minutes after getting of the bike. Your PROTEIN intake is also very important. The recommended ratio of carbs to proteins is 4 to 1. Take 83g divided by 4 gives you = 20.75grams, so make it 21grams in the 1st 30 mins after a ride. It is said that and average egg has about 7 grams of protein in it, meaning you should eat (7 * 3 = 21) 3 eggs on your 2 slices of low GI bread WITHOUT butter or margarine. You can take in carbs and proteins by drinking a recovery drink or eating, I prefer a balance. Hope this helps you
  3. Whey (Evox) protein and L-Glutamine is what I always use after a 1.5 hour ride or a 250KM ride, it recovers my body to the max, BUT add a scoop of your PVM to your recovery drink, I do that every day Remember this MUST BE DONE WITHIN 30 MINUTES AFTER YOUR RIDE/JOG, you have a 1 hour period after a training session to get all the carbs and proteins, etc, that you used back into the body. Your body needs 30mins to take in the things you take in after a ride. Get what I mean? 30mins + 30 mins = 1 hour. Also with my recovery drink I eat 3 eggs (MUST BE SCRAMBLED) on two slices of low GI bread after EVERY ride longer than 1.5 hours, this must also be done in the 30min time window. I say scrambled eggs as they are high in protein and FAST TO PREPARE. Since I started this routine my recovery has been superb! Try it and let me know
  4. Go second hand... all my road stuff are second hand. Great bike for cheap!
  5. What they could do is, lets say it starts to smell. Offer a 25% discount on a new one or something like that.
  6. Hmm... I think what happens is that WHEN the help starts to disintegrate, it allows the stench to come out. SO I don't think it's too bad of an idea to let you know when the helmet is starting to pull apart. I personally will ride with a cracked helmet, as long as it looks good it's fine for me
  7. Got this on another site... ' We’re told that we should replace our bike helmets every couple of years or so, because minuscule cracks can develop over time, rendering them structurally unsound. For the same reason, we’re supposed to replace a helmet that has withstood a direct impact immediately, no questions asked. The problem is... it’s so hard to get yourself to throw away what looks like a perfectly good helmet, just because it might no longer be effective. New technology developed at the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials should eliminate this situation. When your helmet is getting past its prime, it will start to smell. If it develops any large cracks... well, you’d better plug your nose. The secret lies in odoriferous oils, enclosed in formaldehyde resin microcapsules. These microcapsules are in turn added to liquid polypropylene, which is injection-moulded to form the shell of the helmet. When the shell breaks, the capsules rupture, and stinking ensues. The Fraunhofer researchers used a computer simulation to calculate the number of capsules needed, then used mechanical testing to check that they would rupture shortly before complete structural failure. “Smell detection is already in use for coated metal components. We are applying the process for the first time to polymer materials,” stated Fraunhofer’s Dr.-Ing. Christof Koplin. “The cycle helmet is being used as a demonstrator. Work on the capsules has finished and we are now completing characterizing tests on individual configurations.” Possible other applications could include pressure hoses, and water and gas pipes. ' Better change that helmet when its old
  8. 1600 Sedan 2001... Like new! I'm the 2nd owner, the previous owner started to go blind and stopped using it in 2004 or 2005. It was standing for 6 years and they decided to sell it! Had 96 000km on and got it for R27K 5 months ago Great cars!
  9. Well it is the best one ever made so no need to sell it It's just like, I had an Uno Fire 1996 model, that car was great! No problems and light on fuel, etc. To me it's as good as a R40 000 car, it's worth R10K - R18K. Crashed her and insurance paid out R13k Got an Mazda Etude now Get what I mean
  10. @ Dale: These bars are GREAT!! Wow just lo9ve them, Enduren Great stuff!
  11. No the ones I'm talking about are 2nd hand for R2000+ that's wrong The S725x I got was also 2nd hand, that's a good price!
  12. I was wondering why people are currently asking so much for the OLD Polar's... The S- series was the best ever made, but surely the price must drop down as the product is old? Every where people are overcharging these old monitors. I remember TWO years ago, just before I stopped cycling. I picked up a Polar S725x (the carbon one), for R900 including strap, cad sensor and speed sensor. Now I see the S720 and S625 are sold for R2000 + ... What's with that?
  13. People listen to what they say! 26" is very bad for you, get a 29" and sell the 26" to me @ a very low price I need a mtb
  14. It gives you uithouvermoe
  15. Well... I used to smoke while I was sponsored... AS huge mistake! I can not believe I was so stupid to cycle and smoke, well I can't believe I smoked! It's a bad habbit, it took me 7 days to finish my carton. What a bad habbit, it smells and costs you a **** load of money! I told myself, I'm going to do it right or I'm not going to do it. Left all the parties and smoking and drinking. I cycle my bike +- 24 hours a week and I must say, my life is way better without all that stuff Smoking is a stupid idea, you have to be totally stupid or very childish to start! No, it is not hard to quit, it is very easy if you put your head to it
  16. Done, thanks TNT
  17. Here is my CV, if anyone wants to have a look. BTW, I have a car LeonSlabbertCV.pdf
  18. Job needed ASAP Pretoria area. Well my turn! My name is Leon and I'm 19 years old. I'm a full time cyclist and only spending money on cycling atm, I want to ride for a Pro team in S.A. some day. I got a sponsor for next year Team HVAC, need a job to pay for petrol and accommodation @ races and to pay rent. I currently live with my girlfriend and her mother after I got kicked out of home for personal reasons, I sell bike parts and cellphones to get me a few bucks in the month. Pretty happy without money, but it's needed to get my cycling where I want it to be and I need to get my own place or pay rent where I live now. I live in Pretoria and would do any job for a few bucks. I'm great with my hands and would like to work in a bicycle shop. I'm a wiz with pc's, repairing cell phones and I'm a born salesman. The cellphone business is slow so need to get a job... Have a look at my business's site that I made by myself: www.maxi-teck.co.za Any help please! I'll even deliver pizza's! I can also forward my CV. Thanks, Leon!

It was 46km trip, did the 116km race with the Elites and then had to do another 46km ride home I suffered on my way back on the N4... Total trip was 208km's Maybe someone saw me between 04:45 and 05:30 on the N4 and between 10:30 and 11:15 on the N4? Was wearing my Team HVAC kit! Was very hard! Must say the start finish was poor but overall
