  1. The extreme version of this is crossing the line with 5 people. No waiting for the weak! (We've done this, once missing out on a podium)
  2. Yoh - I admire anyone that gets 12 people to the line in less than 5 hours. You've either got to go for the win, or the 12 man option, but I don't think both are going to happen.
  3. hehe - calling them Brakpanners would be a compliment. Their behaviour was despicable. (In fact, I could think of a thousand other things to call them )
  4. As things stand right now, my biggest fear about DC 2018 is getting dropped before we hit the N2. I've got a *bit* of work to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  5. 3rd in the ITT. And she's a demon on the track. But what to you expect when both of your parents were pro cyclists...
  6. He doesn't have a son, but he's got two daughters that are probably better bike riders than most of us here. And they're still juniors!
  7. We've contacted all the other Paris-Roubaix winners, and even they were scared to replace Magnus. Prospective members shouldn't feel bad. On the flip side, anyone who fancies themselves as a future Roubaix winner can test their form out in our mixed team.
  8. I think it's those Brakpan okes that we're up against (I can't be too harsh on the East Randers, I'm a Benoni boy married to a Brakpan girl). We're trying to fill the rather large and ominous hole that Magnus left in our team, but I doubt we'll find anyone nearly as talented or as imposing
  9. A super fast, bleed from your eyeballs, have the ladies crush your ego, kind of team?
  10. There is riding OneTonner in the bunch, not taking a turn, and getting a good time, or there is riding the OneTonner on the front of the bunch (or off the front of the bunch), producing litres of lactic acid, and fading to a quivering wreck and barely being able to ride back to the car park afterwards. I'd choose the guy with latter approach. (The reality is that we only need 3 guys to get to the finish with the ladies - the rest of us should be so broken that we have nothing left to give. The last 30kms at DC should take us two hours, and we should all vow to never ride bikes with ladies ever again!)

  12. We're putting in a mixed team this year with podium ambitions. We have the current SA Ladies U23 Road champ, and 3 other rather hardcore ladies. We need a few more okes to get them to 170kms, and then be humble enough to have your ass handed to you as they out climb you on the final 3 climbs. We did 5:08 last year, finishing as the second mixed team, and we'd like to improve on that. Mixed Martial Arts experience is an added bonus.
  13. I am tempted to report you for such actions. That will teach you! How can you pass up on awesome?!
  14. Yeah - I missed this one with the manflu!
  15. Yoh Fanie - I'm counting 3 bottle cages there. One cage is hardcore Two cages are functional Three cages show signs of panic and desperation!
  16. I saw this guy on the R304 outside Stellenbosch on Saturday. I'm guessing it's a mole snake or a house snake of some sort. He was keen to cross the road (which is when I went past him). He then turned around and went back into the grass...
  17. Well done Floyd! Still one of my favourite bike riders.
  18. Damnit - beat me to it...
  19. Yay - summer's here. And so is the South Easter. Which only really gets going when I have to ride home. Into it.
  20. And they are worried about their hose. I'd be running too - but in the OPPOSITE direction to the FIRE TORNADO!
  21. I've travelled locally with my bike in a cardboard box, but for overseas travel have always opted for a bike bag. It's just so much easier wheeling a bike bag around than trying to lug a box everywhere - especially if you're relying on public transport etc...
  22. I'm with John - never been charged to take a bike on a plane. It's always good to read the specific airline's baggage policy, particularly when it comes to sporting equipment. Lufthansa will allow you to take your bike bag as part of your luggage count, but you do need to make a booking beforehand (to reduce the risk of it being left on the tarmac at loading time, ala Sani2C ).
  23. I view the Canyon site often. It's a thing of beauty! Never seen any toilet paper or spray can art (there is plenty of other artwork to look at though)
  24. Looks like umpires in general are picking on men (or men are just more likely to break the rules), and Ramos in particular hands out code violations disproportionately to men (again, because they break the rules more?). Serena just happened to do all three things in the pic above in the same match.
  25.
