  1. Hi guys I've noticed there are different types of allu- specifically for frames? How do you tell what is better? Higher the number? Or does the number have nothing to do with it?

Spurzzz welcome to the hub! Not a bad price for full 105, but check its pricing on the web to compare. Just remember if you buy it now and sell it in a couple of years it would of dated quite a bit with the rate new groupsets come out. Also have a look at the bike yourself, you'll see here on the hub the definition of the term 'new' varies a lot.

Hi guys I'm doing some research into buying a 2009 BH Expert frame and would like to know what you guys think! http://www.who-sells-it.com/images/catalogs/3910/19404/ct/mtb-2009-000029.jpg
  9. Leon I asked JB about converting my Recon SL to a Reba and this is what he told me, might help answer your questions: Most forks swap from 100 to 80 and back via the re-arrangement of spacers inside. It's a little bit like a stem - put the spacers on top or underneath. Then, you can upgrade the Recon from solo air to dual air, which requires a new piston and some other hardware. There's your Reba. Next question: How much will it cost? I don't know. But I do know that just the aircap on a Reba is R180-00, so I shudder to thank what an entire set of pistons will cost, with their new compression shaft - R1800 perhaps?
  10. Sweet thanks a mil guys! That website is awesome!!!
  11. I've tried tinkering with the one between the scott writing, but am worried about doing it too tight. Will give it another bash. So thats all I need to do mampara, get the bolt the right tension? I don't have a worn headset or anything?
  12. So by tightening the bolt on the very left? http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos/2009/tech/probikes/mark_cavendish_columbia_scott09/Picture_009.jpg
  13. On my road bike when I hold my front brake and rock my weight foward the fork seems to move slightly back and forth where it meets the headset. How do I fix this? Thanks guys!
  14. That is gonna be one SUPER HOT bike!!!
  15. I eat healthily. No butter or marg, no mayo, no frying pan or fried food, half a sugar in my tea, stuff like that. It makes a difference as I always have so much energy. I go to gym twice a week and ride the spinning bike for 40 min (also do legs), ride twice a weekend about 120km average. I weigh 66kgs so am a skinny guy. For me I think "If I put this in my mouth, nutritionally, what is it gonna do for me?"
  16. Money has a lot to do with it- the more they can get in the bank for their 'new' item the better.
  17. Cyclefan I understand what you saying and we need admin to either sort out a rating system or definitions table because too many times I've heard about unhappy fellow hubbers. Yeah, to play devils advocate you need to do thorough research before you buy something, but sellers also need to be honest. To make the hub a better, happier, safer place to buy and sell we need a serious procedure to be followed, or we will continue to here these unhappy stories. 'Name and Shame' is all well and good, but it doesn't prevent the problem. It is not a solution, it is a reaction to the bad already done.
  18. Cool Kevin I see what you saying. So a more detailed table perhaps, covering all bases and defintions? Therefore if an item is advertised, a buyer can refer to it and know what they should be expecting.
  19. Mampara I fully agree with you. Guys why don't we have a system whereby the definition of 'new' can be defined. Like: 'Brand New': Never been used and still in plastic covering. 'New': Has been opened but used only once. 'Like New': Recently bought and used but in very good condition. 'Great Condition': Used but very well looked after. Hubbers can refer to these definitions when selling a product. What you guys think? keith2009-04-15 23:57:38
  20. I have noticed the mag has slendered down. I read 'What Mountain Bike' and 'Pro Cycling' in the shops as they are AWESOME mags. Why can't we in SA produce mags of this quality? They do great reveiws and have up to date cycling news.
  21. Wheels are a good way to reduce weight. Not cheap but worth it in the long run. A new front fork is also an option to loose about 200g, but also not cheap. Going ghetto tubeless now IS cheap and will save you weight instantly.
  22. Near the BB, out of sight, under the frame.
