Thanks fabes, was quite lucky, the mixed field wasn't nearly as strong as last year!

Thanks man, must admit this was an unreal weekend! We just went to enjoy our first stage race together and end up getting the first place! Really got some new respect for my wife, Friday was her first ever 80km on a mtb, and haven't done any back to back races before, so to race for 3 days above her comfort zone was quite special! All in all great event, well organized, nice vibe, great routes and awesome prizes. Lots of Capestorm giveaways which made it a good value for money race. Can highly recommend it for anyone that want to try a stage race.

Me and my wife got a late entry and looking forward, any hubbers doing this one? Look out for team Mixed Emotions!
  7. Lekker race soos gewoonlik, net jammer rd verloor na 35km! Toe single speed huitoe, dink heelpaar andergoed nou ook moertoe! Darem nog n 2:27 gery, so heel happy. Thanx george vi my bike se lift!
  8. Anybody doing this race? Had a great time last year and weather looks good. Looking for the gpx file of last years route?
  9. Must admit, for me it was tougher than most 60-70km MTBing events. With mtbing you go as fast as you can for as long as you can, when you get tired you just go slower till you recover and then chase again. With the elites you go anyway as fast as you can, problem is when you get tired and want to recover in the same time someone launch an attack you really need to bite the bullet!
  10. Yep, road machine it was. Was nie lus vir al die comments van die $ bunch oor my mtb! Don't think I would have seen Simondium with the $ bunch anyway!
  11. Well done on all the good times! Managed a 2:11 wheelsucking the $ group, as a MTBer never thought I would ever go as fast as this on a bike, scary at times! With 10 km to go my time was 2:00, doing the last 10km in 11min was just crazy! Almost felt like cheating to just wheelsuck, but pace was just too fast to do anything else. Actually felt I had a better race last year in the front of A where I did some pulling. Any way, nice to see what its like in the elite bunch!

    Die burger seeding

Will be a first $ start for me! :-/
  13. Got mine from Summit Bikes and couldn't be more pleased.
  14. Rather buy American Classic race wheels @ R6500 (1430gram), compared to more than R9K for ZTR race golds (1345 grams). Not even 100g difference for R3k and more reliable - imo.

Doing the race this weekend, looking forward. Does anyone have a gpx. file of the route?
  16. American classic race wheels,1430g @ R6500,best money you can spend on an upgrade.
  17. Any one knows where to find the results?
  18. I'll say its about 15-20mins more difficult, did the same time as last year, but is way fitter than last year this time and had a much stronger race.
  19. Results up on www.eselfonteinmtb.co.za
  20. Thanx for the best race of the year! This with the Gravel travel must be up there with the best in the country! (Het 'n glasie water of Coke gemis by die eindpunt, gelukkig was dit nie 'n warm dag nie!)
  21. Tubeless tires weigh about 300g more than tubeless ready tires, so if you don't have the legs like me, ride tubeless ready
  22. I've got the 2012 scott spark expert, bit lower spec than the new 910, but more or less same bike, my brother got the 29 Anthem. We've swaped many times while riding and I can honestly say not much to choose between. Weight wise almost the same, I'll give the giant the nod on the downs and the scott on the ups. The scott almost feels like a hardtail compared to the giant, but I like it that way, just enough suspension for more comfy ride otherwise ready to race. If the geometry is fine for kevin and david it surely will be more than fine for any of us looking to race. Came down many a downhill with a tallboy, still looking for one to come up with me;-) I got mine for R27k in april, not sure if its the best buy for R35k though! Both the giant and scott come with crappy wheels, so save some cash for the upgrade!
  23. Shocker, hoe lank moet ons nog na Morne se useless uppies sit en kyk! Sal vir Lambie kans gee.
  24. +1, much prefer race tec's timing and results site! Think if I got it right the organisers want to give every rider a time and its not possible with race tec if they dont force everyone to buy a chip.
  25. Great race and well organised, just a pity for the bottle neck at helshoogte and the bridge at the end! Much better route and ST than the MTB Argus! Managed a 2:57 in the 60 km, started a bit to fast and almost felt like dying in the end!
