  1. Couldn't agree with you more, route markings should be 100% spot on and on a high speed corner where you turn out of a bigger road into a smaller road there should be tape.
  2. My race... Well I'd say rather eventful! Started the 75km with good intentions with the A bunch, all went fine for the first 6km till that guy in the front of the bunch missed that famous arrow... Coming from Tulbagh and being involved with the route I tried to stop as many riders as I could, only to receive a crazy face glare from most. I got back on my bike and rode to the tar crossing, jumped in with a speed cop chased for about 5km till we could stop the guys and get them back on the right track. When I got back to my bike I went back and made sure the arrows were at the right place, meanwhile my wife came past chasing the other girls in the 45km, so I decided to make a family day of it and did the 45km with her!
  3. The previous time it was the marshall (as with the Argus MTB) who caused the problem, so this time we decided to properly "try to" mark the route and use the marshals for major crossings. There was 2 signs to turn right, the first guy missed it and everyone else followed! The Ultra and 75km ladies rode the same route before the 75km A batch and no one missed the signs, so really no excuse. Luckily there was no marshall to blame : )
  4. Well done copperhead, just completing that route is an achievement, getting a podium is excellent! Just thinking of that route makes me tired, climbing is one thing but racing some of that gradients will kill me!
  5. Brandon, was great seeing you again, pity for the wrong turn, but very well done for still finishing in great spirit! Couple of guys really impressed me today with the way they took on the 75km after taking a 10km detour! I was very involved with the route this year and knowing every turn of it I somehow also missed that turn! Went back to see for myself how we could missed it and their actually was 2 signs to turn right, problem is when the first guy missed it it was all dust and then all of us missed it. In retrospect there should have been a marshall, but it actually is just a normal right turn and you can't have a marshall on every turn. That turn should have been taped though. Hope the race survive so we can correct the mistake!
  6. Not 100% sure, but I think, Platt,Huber, Mennen, and then 3 of the Bulls team Ladies Arianne, Sally Bigham, Jennie Stennerhag
  7. Think you can still enter tomorrow.
  8. 75km is more or less the same, that tough last climb was made a "little"bit easier! 105km got 2 extra climbs and a very nice piece of st, the rest stays the same.
  9. Was it just me or was this race much tougher than I anticipated? Well me and the misseus did our first tandem race and for the first 40km (which we did in 1hr) we stayed with the A bunch and really had a good time! There after it all went pear shaped! As was expected, with the amount of training we did, we always would have struggled towards the end, but man, was this a test of character! I new we started off way to fast, but when a tandem got momentem its hard to stop! That bike is so hard on your ass, I'll be happy if I can use my backside before the Argus! Not feeling to positive about my cycling career at the moment! An extra waterpoint with some coke would have helped!
  10. Really wanted to do this race with my wife on the tandem (need some race miles before the Argus), but for almost R600 entry fee.... I'd rather take her out Saturday night!
  11. Well done Copperhead, I was comfortably 3rd for 85% of the race when suddenly, for the first time in my life, I had to get of my bike for cramps! Was in the white Tru-Cape kit, would have loved to give you a run for the money Will be back next year, best race of the year. Just one thing for the organisers, please let the 65km start no later than 7:30!
  12. Wow what a great weekend of pure mtb pleasure! Organising, food and vibe was excellent, met some great new mtbers! Flymango, most of the time she rode at the back, apparently I'm working on her nervs if I'm at the back! Always looking at what she does wrong and then giving advise wasn't appreciated! (I kind of struggle to keep my big mouth shut when I'm at the back!) So, I decided to ride in the front, show her my lines and let she build confidence on her own time. After stage 2 she got just what was needed (an overdose of st) in the end really started to enjoy it and finally started to let the brakes go! Ended with a 5th place in the mix, so very pleased!
  13. Very nice first stage, enjoyed every bit, firstclass event! Still happily married!;-) Managed a 4:36, very pleased!
  14. Anyone got the gpx files of the 3 stages?
  15. My partner (my wife) is getting a bit nervous for all the hype on how technical it is! I on the otherhand love it the more technical it gets! This is gonne be a huge test of patience!! (who's idea was it anyway) Any lawyers doing the race?
  16. Gaan niemand anders kommentaar lewer oor hul ondervinding die afgelope naweek nie? Wat kan ons die naweek verwag, was dit erger as verwag/laasjaar?
  17. They'll want to replace it with a 650b : )
  18. Taahir, singletrack wise Esselfontein must be in the top 3 of the Western Cape, that is if you like rocky technical st! Not that much climbing, but rewarding downhill st after each climb, you'll love every moment!
  19. Jislaaik dit was 'n tough ride! Did it with my wife as training for w2w, although she's quite strong, she got 0 bunch riding skills!!!! Had to leave some very nice bunches to drop back to her as she's just to scared to sit close on the wheel. Everytime the bunch accelerate quickly she's off! Did some loong solo stretches...... After the 10th time I seriously got pissed!!!! Never again! Finished with a 5:45, which I'll take on a day like today! Well done to everyone that finish this one!
  20. Lanklaas so in my moer gewees! Moet sê die bar one by lasaste water was n lifesaver! Darem net onder 3 uur ingekom, so seker nie te bad, maar so wil ek nooit weer op 'n fiets voel!
  21. Sien jul daar, lyk of dit dalk bietjie kan reën more!
  22. Give me a pm the week before you arrive, I'll show you around.
  23. Great race, just 'n pity I was seriously in my moer from the 80km mark... Managed a 4:50 with my wife. Did she impressed me today, cycling for just a year now, with a total of 13 hours in the saddle for august, ended up pulling my sorry ass home for the last 30km! Ego took a serious dent today.......(must admit been sick for the last two weeks, so using it as excuse!)
