  1. Just did the same and its seriously buck hunting!
  2. Why only in SA? And some of childish tryingtoabarnywithyoutoprovemypointandnottryingtoseethelogic responses are just what i had imagened...
  3. were do you get that from? read the thread and see that i dont care and was only asking why.buy a 80 k racer buy a 80 k trail bike i was only asking why weight is such a factor in SA?leave poor Juju alone the ANC is already in a bad shape...
  4. I just stuck 2.4 X kings on my "race" hardtail it makes such a difference to comfort that is the route i also take i dont waste my money on a expensive car even though i can afford it...i have a bantam (more money for the bike and the things i like) No i dont. but if you are a midpack racer why not get a comfy 80k bike? instead if what bob or mega man racer is riding?
  5. THANK YOU that was the kind of response i was looking for!
  6. Over IT!
  7. ghost amr plus lector... Looks na na na
  8. have to agree with that one...
  9. forget the word race for a second and focus on the original question... and that folks that is why there are a number of them weight weeny folk around the word race got gloryfied by a magazine and all the sheep follow the lighter is better cause i do not want to loose 2 seconds on a hill because my bike weighs 400g heavier than yours mentallity. if thats your mantra good for you. if you can afford it great....... so no- you dont understand what i am trying to say...
  10. Pivot mach 5.7 lapierre spicy 516 rocky mountain slayer 70
  11. so why not then get a bike with decent(120-150mm) travel and then just ride over them? the reason i ask this is, look at the new breed of all mountain bikes the sometimes weigh as little as 12.5kg and have the suspension(comfort) that the average bloke wants? i weigh 58kg my first bike was a 13.2kg beast but i raced and won(once) on it. and i certainly rode that as fast if not faster than the guys on lightweight bikes. so why buy a 60,70,80k 100mm racebike if you can spend the same amount on a darnit dang good Machine
  12. get a on one scandal
  13. so our competitive nature justifies a 60k bike because its lighter and hellova uncomfy to finish 2-3 hours later than everyone else?or am i missing something. and please take this with a pinch of salt...if thats your thing thats fine im just asking:)
  14. get the one that works for you get a custom one ,build your own stop worrying about weight.
  15. after a few to many black and whites i got thinking... Why are the majority of SA mountain bikers weight weeny's when they should be more interested in fun than racing? ive given up and now am playing the comfort over weight card... insights, chirps, comments welcome
  16. whooaa that should just about fit then might be better with a 2.3...! ordering tommorow!
  17. i want to get one of those lovely orange ones meself, what sort of tyre clearance do they have as i want to put some 2.4s on it to further soften the ride wich will make it a 60x559
  18. Let us see that bike i have a 1xp setup on my hardtail and am awaiting delivery from superstarcomponents of a chaindevice...considered the bashring and roller but decided to stick to the guide only. been wanting to get up on a longer travel bike myself for a while now and will definately do that bashring bb roller lambada on that bike when i do
  19. ignor that found it. Total landed cost: ZAR3340.67
  20. funny how now when i look at bikes with a tripple on the front it looks out of place or am i the only one? also i have been looking at an on-one inbred 29 frame @ 166.60 English Pounds how much would the import duties and tax etc be for this frame?
  21. 24.5 thats were it is
  22. As the topic title suggests i have these questions. 1 I live right by the coast, would buying a stell frame be a unwise decision? or can you treat the frame to not rust? 2 And this might really be dumb so excuse me if it is... does a BB30 bottom bracket require a speceific crank or will my spare crank from a "normal" bb work? 3 were can i get hold of a complete or if possible get a build for a 29r singlespeed? thanks
  23. All at singlespeed.co.za? i must admit i love the no nonsense set up. the bike is light no mucking with gears/derailleurs and stuff ive hung up the racing boots and just want to have a good time at it!
  24. YUP same here
