  1. I was eyeing those forks. They are sadly out of stock at the moment
  2. I see! Let's see what Droo can doo. See what I did there?
  3. Been watching the classifieds
  4. I'm still unsure what I will do, but I don't think I will go with Suntour.
  5. The Suntour Epicon only comes in 15mm, not 9mm QR, unless Im being an idiot...I have not seen it. I have had a look at the Recon SIlver from CRC, but with VAT & duties it will get a bit pricey for me.
  6. Thanx Eugene, yes it was a 26 when i was there last week as well.
  7. Hey guys I am struggling to decide which fork to buy. I have a Momsen AL329 frame (tapered). I dont have a huge budget and I have been looking at: RockShox Recon Silver TK Solo Air RockShox XC 32 TK Solo Air Forks Suntour Raidon RST First I Cant find the Rockshox forks at any of the shops near me, they mostly only sell the Reba. I have seen it on CRC for affordable prices. Do you guys have any recommendations on these forks, and also where to get a good deal on them. I would prefer to buy locally, in the JHB area as I would also like to have the steerer cut (if need be) Im not overly keen on buying second hand as most of the forks that I have seen for under R3k look like they have been through the wars.
  8. Just a thought: If the company halved their prices, they would need to sell twice as much to make the same amount of money. The same has been said about Adobe products, people always complain about the prices, but will people even buy it if it was 50% less? I doubt it. People also like to complain about things they can't afford, but the thing is, if you really needed it you would make a plan. I also don't understand why people support these companies in the first place. My wife could get similar quality pics of me standing on the side with her cellphone camera. The quality is pretty crap most of the times, and having a pic of me sitting of me on my bike on a dirt path does not interest me. I would not call these guys professional photographers, rather people with cameras. I am a photographer, and no I do not photograph events, not even weddings.
  9. Looks like a Momsen to me...
  10. Seems like a bad patch up job What frame is it?
  11. http://dialdbikes.co.za/dmr-single-speed-conversion-kit.html
  12. I have a Galaxy Pocket for sale (brand new in the box) PM me if any of you want it. *end of shameless plug*
  13. I worked in retail after school while I studied. The one day two young boys come in and have R300 to spend. Now with it being a skating shop I asked them what they like etc, and they spotted the skating DVDs. They chose the ones they liked and they were VERY happy. 10 minutes later a woman flies through the door and throws the DVDs at my from about 4 meters away. Kakked me out for selling them DVDs while they were supposed to buy each of them T shirts. The little ****s never said anything. I could have set fire to that beast of a woman, but I left it and gave them a refund. Take your money and leave dude. You can tell from the broken sentences that this lady is a NUT JOB!
  14. Is the black version a 29er?
  15. I am riding without a clutch derailleur and no guide with my raceface NW ring. I have not yet thrown the chain. I have actually tried to...but couldn't. I can even lose another link on my chain, which I will remove soon. Hope I'm not speaking to soon but so far I'm extremely happy with this chainring.
  16. I am so bored with hearing that we must support the LBS. "Build a relationship" I get told...well I have tried but some arrogant shop owners, clueless sales people and mechanics just put me off. In JHB alone I have had several issues with the some of the shops. Mike's Bikes - never bothered to order a bike in a size that I wanted for my wife...I got tired of following up. Cycle Lab Boksburg - Their speed point system was down the one time so I had to leave empty handed, the next time they didn't have stock of several items they I needed (tyres, grips etc). The last time that I went there I spent 20 mins standing around hoping to be helped (all sales guys were busy - and I didn't have time to wait longer) Tour de Frans - arrogant owner that won't even let a person finish a sentence (no variety - clothing from the 90's) Techies are clueless...they never managed to get my gears running smoothly Cajees - well I won't elaborate. ( I have once walked in and bargained a set of Crossmarks LUST 29er tyres for R800 - so far Cajees FTW) Procycles - not a huge variety but prices are fair and they have some good guys that work there. Now I buy the spares where I find it the cheapest and learn how to build it myself. So far I have managed fine. I dread the day when I have to bleed my brakes as I'm not sure I will get it right, and I am too scared to trust the techies at some of these shops. I have never bought from CRC, Buycycle & EasyBike's prices have been cheaper of late.
  17. Some tyres are quite difficult to get off certain rims. I have also seen a tyre glued onto a rim on a colleague's bike. A cheap way to run a tubeless setup with non tubeless tyres that won't seat. (obviously not recommended) Spider - make sure there is nothing in the tyre when you put a new tube in, sometimes a small sharp object can be left behind and will puncture the tube again once inflated. If there is a hole in a tubeless tyre then you can plug it. You guys will be surprised how many people don't know how to change tubes etc, let alone the more complicated things. I noticed a guy's wheel was deflating at the start of a race earlier this year. I pointed this out to him and he went into a flat panic as he didn't know where to begin. I helped him and he literally put his gloves back on and the gun went off... It made me feel great that I was able to help so he could do the ride. It takes a little bit of your time and patience to show somebody, be nice guys!
  18. I want! First time I saw this. Thanx will read up more
  19. You have my attention... details please?
  20. 100% sure! Wait....let me check again
  21. Just took ownership of my RF chainring...can't wait to try this out
  22. I'm no gravity rider but I can't wait for this
  23. You are right...I had a whole long discussion going on in my head and typed 1x9 in stead of 1x10
  24. Just placed my order Can't wait to try it. I will be running 1x8 first with some old spares. If I like it I will get 1x9 with a clutch derailleur...
