This is my second wife, away from home. I build her up from a frame and fork I bought on the hub about a month ago, the rest is all new parts. She is 4th bike and she is replacing her auntie which is a 1997 Eddy Merckx MXLeader. Almost 3 kilograms in weight difference. Took her for her first race at Bela Bela. Bit nervouis, but she rides like the wind.

Done it once when I was a student at the Technicon Pretoria, not a good idea. Had to stop twice to clear the stomach. One of the worst training rides of my life.

When we bought our tandem about two years ago a very wise man said : "It's either a relationship maker or a relationship breaker" It's sad but it's true (Sounds like a Queen song) Lukily for me and the wife it made us stronger and we got married soon afterwards. You'll enjou it very much. Two golden rules. Do not push to hard down on your handlebars if you sit at the back and do not attempt to stand if you haven't practiced it before the race. Enjoy !

I pray for a quick recovery for you to. I was in the hospital for more than 2 weeks as well last year and it is not nice lying on your back the whole time, it is very fustrating. Hope it goes well with your operation as well. God speed !
