  1. Thanx for the pic Straatvark. He is still very much missed.
  2. I'm glad. Back to good 'ol racing.
  3. Rather come and join us at the race in Heidelberg on Sunday
  4. He was lucky to only get 12 years , in the old days he might have gotton the death penalty. Hope that the other taxi drivers will learn a valuable lesson from this, although I don't think so.
  5. Kwaai Matchstix ! That 1 km straight probably is one of the steepest parts as well. Next year I'll join my friends and see how far up we can go, IF the hillclimb is not back as part of the Jock.
  6. So was it tough intern ? I think so
  7. and some of intern ...
  8. Few pics from FL (Flemish Lion ) on the climb, check out the wheelie !
  9. So we did the Jock last weekend and on the Sunday after the race I took to hubbers to this climb outside Baberton. They have never seen or done it before. It was fun It used to be a stage on the Sunday after the race, why not anymore ? The record for the 7 km hillclimb was set by Nic White in 2004 at 24:42 as far as I know.
  10. I think Menchov is trying to hide his doping by riding like an idiot. Falling twice on one stage ( 4 falls I know of in the Tour so far )and not even finishing in the top 50 in the ITT ( Just over a month ago nobody sould beat him in a ITT ). Doesn't make sense. If you take the stats from the last few year's Giro and Tour, either the winner or the runner up will get caught out for Doping. So either Contador, Andy or Lance are in a spot of trouble.
  11. I'm glad I met him
  12. Sweet intern. Thanks to Morne as well
  13. When we left the MTN van there was still about 2 hours left before the Hillclimb started. That would have been enough time for him to set their gears and check the brakes As far as I know the MTN ladies took 1,3 and I think 4th overall. So he/they did their job
  14. I wish my LBS could buy him from MTN. One could see it is his passion in live.
  15. I would like to share something with all my fellow hubbers about what happened to me and Savannah at the Graskop Hillclimb Champs last weekend. We started of the morning on on a "few" loops around God's window. Savannah had a problem with her gears and the chain kept on dropping, which meant she had to do a loop or to with only a 39/21 to play with. By the end of the stage we had to do some work on the gears before we tackled the Hillclimb up Kowyn's in the afternoon. I took a fat chance and went to the mechanic of the MTN ladies team and asked him if he had 10 minutes to help us. Almost an hour later he fixed her cables, chain and almost everything else one would get when you take your bike in for a service. While he was busy doing that there were 2 MTN pro girls bikes that needed work done, but he first finished Savannah's bike before he went to their bikes. To top it all, he didn't want to except any money for his work and did it with a smile. Sorry I forgot your name, you saved our day and tour and made sure that Savannah won the ladies 30+ cat. You are a true Samaritan in this troubled times. Two thumbs up !! Ps. Before I forget, thanks to the Cycle Lab Sub Vet, I think she said his race number was 60 or 70, that helped her to get the chain on again. Few guys will stop these days to help a lady, thanks buddy !
  16. Haven't been on the hub for a long time, work is keeping me a bit busy. I know, get another job Are we having our TdF game this year ? I think Man with no Name ran it last year if I'm not mistaken.
  17. Got it from a newspaper report today. UNBELIEVABLE !
  18. So I left the tv on Rai after the dramatic ITT from the Giro last night and on came the news. I cannot understand a word of Italian but the pictures helped a lot so that I could make out what the reports were all about So what news made bigger headlines in Italy yesterday than the General Motors bankruptcy and meltdown ? a Cyclist was killed by a car on some small road in a small town in Italy. They showed the accident scene and the bike lying on the ground. Have they ever in the history of the SABC news showed a cyclist killed on the roads as one of their major headlines ? Maybe if they did that, fewer cyclists might be kocked down or even worse, killed on our roads. Think Bike. The Pirate2009-06-01 00:02:44
  19. He was looking awesome with 4 km to go and then as he came around the corner, he just made a little motion with his hand and said, That's it. When you hit the wall, you come to a stand still
  20. Di Luca waiting untill the last 200 meters to make his move. ">
