  1. Quite correct. There is no spacer between the hub and the cluster.
  2. Thank you to everyone involved. Really appreciated.
  3. I use a good quality paintbrush and Paraffin. Gently spray off with garden hose. Wash the rest of the bike, as the gunk you have removed from the cassette, chainwheel etc is now on your wheels and frame. Wash the wheels and frame with a soapy water (or a car wash solution), spray off and chammy dry. New Bike!. When dry, re-lube.
  4. Too much info !!! Allways a dead giveaway!

    ME AGAIN

    Beautiful !!!!
  6. Sorry to hear about the burglary. Nevertheless, Happy Birthday!
  7. Quite correct, you cannot (should NOT) use a star nut in a carbon steerer tube. Sorry, I cannot give you advice on the headset !
  8. If I understood some of the correspondence on site earlier this year, the changes were made to improve the technical aspects of "the hub" (hope you understand the 'non computerees' so..... although it is all a bit strange like moving from Excel 2003 to 2007 or when our club changed its colours etc etc, lets get used to it. I think it looks 'fresh' and does seem to respond much quicker. I say well done, I for one am going to enjoy using the site.
  9. I have patched for years, no problem. What I have found however, is that once the tubes of glue have been opened, the glue seems to deteriorate fairly quickly (3-4weeks in the saddlebag) and then you can do what you want, but the patch will not stick. My penny's worth !.
  10. I believe that the biggest problem is the rude, arrogant and offensive behaviour of SOME cyclists to both other cyclists and motorists when reprimanded. We cannot imagine the amount of upset that is caused by the response by SOME cyclists to, a polite cautionary hoot by a motorist trying to get past a group of cyclists riding four of five abreast, or a fellow cyclist like myself warning about a row of 8 or 10 cars being held up by cyclists riding four abreast up a hill at 8km/h during a fun ride (let wel ! on open roads). My two pennies worth !.
  11. To minimise sway - Holdfast used to have a belt with hooks that fitted at the top end of the boot and looped around carrier and tightened. I have used it for about 8 years to Amashovas and Bloem Classics. Makes a huge diff on the amount of sway and to date has done no damage to my bootlid. The other handy gadget that I bought from them is, what I call a "bike spacer" it clamps between bike 1 and 2 and another one between bike 2 and 3. (I have a three bike rack and carry no 4 on the roof. Never had as much as ascratch on any of my road bikes.
  12. I have used a three bike one for 8 years. The distributors have a few handy gadgets which I am sure you will be able to ask your local LBS to get from them. The one is a piece of adjustable webbing with two hooks that fit at the top of the boot lid, looped round the top of your carrier, and then pulled tight. NO MORE NOISE on long trips, because it stops the sway to a very large degree. The other handy gadgets are bike spacers. I have two and have never had as much as a scratch on any one of my bikes. Send me a PM with your e-mail address if you want pics.
