  1. Thanks for the on topic response. That is not over my budget as I never actually mentioned one. I was jsut not willing to pay R100 delivery for an item valued at R200. As it is I have decided to get the Crank Brothers 19 Multi-tool http://www.buycycle.co.za/images/detailed/7/CrankB_Multi-19_Tool_Gold12863095804cab86cc0853a.jpg
  2. Ah yes, this wonderful elitist "I am better than you because I have the latest gear" aspect of cycling had to eventually rear it's head on here. Not surprised as it seems rife. It is actually an embarrasment to the sport you guys supposedly love that this attitude thrives the way it does...
  3. It's not the tooling around that's the problem, but rather where to tool around!
  4. Truth be known, that's the exact reason I do this. Rather than go out and make a rash purchase that I'll end up regretting I'd rather come here, ask opinions, queries those opinions, get abuse hurled at me, hurl some abuse back and before you know it the urge to buy has worn off and I am not left with something I never use. Yes, the easiest thing for all would be for me to just dash out and buy but then you'd have to deal with me trying to sell stuff every week too Yip, again, don't get me wrong, I have said before that currently tubes are doing me just fine. I have not said I will never go tubeless, I just can't justify the expense now. Perhaps I have Jewish blood... I said the same with cleats initially and I stick by that. When I started I didn't need them but not that I am enjoying the riding and it is likely to continue the expense makes sense.
  5. For those of you who provided suggestions and opinions, thank you. I'll weigh up those opinions and make a call. For those who didn't, thank you too, you provided much entertainment. Better than watching SABC and no license required either.
  6. Actually I have been looking at some of the Camelbaks.... You guys who get annoyed by a thread carrying on are obviously a little OCD and cannot resist coming in and commenting. If a thread does not interest me, I don't open it. Easy really.
  7. It seems you offer was hollow, much like the advice given by some. I placed my order and clearly asked if you want me to PM my delivery address. All talk. I hope you don't run your business like that. EDIT: I must apologise, with all the garbage going back and forth in here I missed your response to my "order". That was most kind of you although I fear it may have just been said for the sake of it.
  8. [quote name=Joe Low' timestamp='1341254012' post='1 700329] Yeah and he dont know much, its not like he owns a bike shop or anything. Adding something of value, owning a shop and competing in races are three different things as far as I am aware. If he has no desire to add anything of value here then why bother hanging out... Oh, I know, he still wants that date he was trying to set up a while back. Well we've reached the point where it seems little advice is forthcoming so I might as well have fun.
  9. Of course I could be arrogant here and claim that there is no one else like me.... but I realise that there are some sensitive folk on here and that sort of humour would be too much for them to handle.
  10. Damn, that's great because it is highly unlikely I'd ever take your advice. Although I do have a sneaky suspicion that the real truth is that you actually have very little of value to add...
  11. And again, thanks so much for expending your energy on the snide comments rather than useful advice. Get cocky about the camelbak mentioned but not a sniff of a suggestion of one. Yip, pretty much what I've come to expect.... Seems some of these "experts" are not very good at giving out advice.
  12. Oh dear, and I was the one accused of not reading other people's posts... thanks for showing your true colours here, Dangle!
  13. Oh really? Ha ha... coming from you that's rich! And screw manners if it makes the forum a little more interesting. This place needs some livening up and some excitement. Those 29 vs 26 and baggies vs cycling shorts topics were becoming boring.
  14. Ha ha, you see now guys, you can blame this guy for this... I was just thinking a hydration pack may be the way to go and now he says exactly what I fear!
  15. Just quoting so it is here for all to see. Thanks I'll take the Camelbak Octane XCT preferably but even the Classic will do if free. Hell, I'll even pay you cost for the Camelbak! For the saddle bag I quite like the Topeak Aero Wedge Medium with the velcro straps. And for my cycling shirt I'm not fussy Should I PM you my delivery address?
  16. Ha ha, my modus operandi is very unlikely to ever be similar to yours.... I keep all my discussions public and have no desire to subtly threaten people when they do not agree with my opinion... Pity you chaps are more interested in expending energy on petty squabbles than sharing useful information. All good though.
  17. Where did you get the hydropack from and do you reckon they are as good as camelbaks? I have read elsewhere of people getting other hydration packs but using the camebak bladder but financial this makes little sense.
  18. You keen for me to get a little suspension like others on here seem good at doing?
  19. Ooh, getting personal now are we? I do find it rather immature but I can play that game well too if that's the path you wish to take. I'm not sure you guys are referring to the same camelbak. The one I am referring to seems to have a rather small "footprint" from what I can see. Unless you are referring to the bottom straps which would be crucial if I wanted to use if for running too. http://www.campist.com/archives/camelbak-octane-xct-backpack-2010.jpg This still makes me laugh. Is it really that important to "look cool"? Surely functionality should be the main criteria not coolness.
  20. Indeed. Hence me approaching a forum filled with apparent experts to hear their opinions
  21. I would try and make it simple but I'm afraid I am not suitably qualified to do so
  22. A phone/camera has not been included in anyone's critical item list but it is definitely something that's be with me at all times too.
  23. I was not expecting a straight decisive answer at all. I was expecting opinions. Which makes the comments by some that the answer was given on page one all the more stupid. That implies there is a right answer, which implies arrogance, which is what I was saying. If opinions are something to be frowned upon and not shared then why even bother having a forum...
  24. Nope, wrong one then and my mistake with the name, it's small. http://www.cwcycles....e-xct-hydration I like the price of the Classic but it has very little space and I'd be back to square one.
  25. Huh? So instead of asking for recommendations I must go out and buy a saddle bag, camelbak, water bottle tool holder and then try them all out myself and decide. I think there is a word for that as well - stupid! I like to refer to it as a discussion but you can call it an argument if that's what blows your hair back.
