  1. I've been crying ever since you jumped in Hell, dude, I'm not fussed, if you're closer it so be it. You've also been here longer and have more posts and we all know that is all that matters on any forum. Maybe he has two pairs... or we can have one sock each?
  2. Don't joke... http://www.ecosox.com/
  3. I would hope so because that was the exact reason I typed it. <blows hard to try and get that chip off the shoulder so we can all move on. I have>
  4. Not?! Damn, I was just about to start a thread asking about the best bottle cage and what size. Please don't tell me they are all the same size and once you have seen one you have seen them all?
  5. <please standby for an important announcement> Tut tut, do you know how plastic litters our planet? <as you were>
  6. With your help we can get it to 20! Keep it up
  7. Ooh, I like! That'll go brilliantly with my latest helmet (got rid of the Rudy Project as someone said it was not cool)
  8. BUT.... did you still look cool!
  9. Oi, get back in the line!
  10. Thanks for the offer. If I lived around the corner I'd pop over and grab them for sure as my two pairs of Qhubeka socks are in a constant cycle through the washing machine and onto the wash line, but logistics may not make is feasible.
  11. Dangle, as someone with years of riding experience, who also happens to ride the latest and greatest, and wears the coolest gear, I am obviously the authority on this subject so let me share my advice. Form personal experience I have come to realise that the best bottle (based on cool factor, cost and usefulness) is an empty 500ml coke bottle. Coke was, is and always will be cool. If you have a big enough bottle cage a 2l bottle will be even better as you can ride for far longer.
  12. Damn, suppose I'll need to get myself a knock sock then? Any ideas where you get them? Not that I am saying you should know of course...
  13. Good morning guys. I must admit to feeling rather bad now. Yes, this was posted in jest but The Hub came through and I actually got given some good advice/opinions on a topic I felt was unlikely to be able to be advised on. I think it has shown that there really isn't stupid question when it comes to cycling and we can share information on any subject. I really expected to be lambasted from all sides for even asking. Thanks guys for restoring my faith in the power of a public forum And apologies once again for taking the piss. Back on topic, I was lucky enough to win a black and a white pair of MTN Qhubekacycling socks which I love and use whenever they are clean. Other than that I do have some "Falke" ones that are great as they feel far softer than some others.
  14. I bought the shoes but now I can't decide what socks to get. I see some people where hidden socks, others wear short ones and still others wear long ones. Which is best? Or more importantly, what is currently cool? Also what colour should I go for? My bike is silver and my shoes are black/grey but my kit is black and red. Really confusing. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  15. 21 riders last night, EigerSA. Lovely evening! Not many places that can boast 16 degree weather in mid winter at 11pm!
  16. I think you have all bases covered there, flymango! I might just have to follow your example and buy it all, it will also mean not having to make a decision. Or I could just ensure I always ride with someone like you and I can just bum off them
  17. There is in Durban. Not sure you'll make it thought from CT but Durban folks be there
  18. Yeah, I've seen the LR version online and it does look far better for running. The concern again (obviously) is that you'll probably battle to get one that is ideal for both MTBing and running so I'll need to make compromises. MTBing will probably get preference as I do that more often. It did make me laugh when someone online was reviewing the LR version and stated that it stood for "long range"!
  19. Not certain my ass is big enough...
  20. Do you think there is any pack that could be used as a cross over (for both running and cycling) that would not have this issue? I know they talk about air directors and the like on these packs but I reckon they are more gimmick, which you seem to confirm. As you mention though, to run you would need the hip belts. Running would not be the main use but I'd like to be able to use it when I do. Did a 10km trail run in Giba recently and it was a pain carrying a water bottle in hand and a phone in the pouch around my waist ( Yip, I've always said appearances are not first priority with me). A concern with the side pockets too is the netting at the bottom. Worries me that anything in there is fairly exposed. People talk about putting their phone there but I'd feel the need to cover it with a bag or something. I can also imagine keys being noisy as you mentioned and perhaps sticking through the holes causing damage. No, no, I wear a properly cycling shirt. When running I do so in a normal cotton t-shirt. Thanks so much for your response. Just a few questions as regards the XCT, you mention you can pack it but when I watch videos online it does not show much space at the back and msot of the packing is done in the waist poaches. Where do you fit a spare tube and the like? Also I see the new ones have a 3l bladder which means less room in this compartment. Is yours also the 3l one or the older 2l one? Thanks again
  21. Don't forget Durbanites! Tonight 8:30 at Moses Mabhida! Be there
  22. I actually haven't even looked at the ones with tyre levers as they seem easy enough to just pop in the back and can be picked up rather cheap. Not much mention of the Crank Brothers ones on here but they get excellent reviews online. No personal experiences?
  23. It does not matter to me as I have nothing to prove by comparing mine to yours...
  24. And this is exactly the reason why no question/topic/thread is actually a stupid one. We all have experiences and information to share but some have this holier than though attitude which results in them ridiculing rather than assisting.
  25. Thanks. I am considering buying a few items which with some stores will mean a dropping of the delivery charge but definitely something to keep in mind. My concern with most shops is the lack of choice. They seem to have a chosen range and that is that. I have considered this too but mainly based on the efficiency of some multi tool chain breakers but you raise another interesting point.
