  1. I have XL to swop for Large, you still keen? I am in Sandton, you in Eastern Cape, might be difficult...
  2. I struggled for a while to lose the last 5 kgs that I needed to get to my initial goal weight. Consider myself very fit, cyle road and mtb sat and sun, and train at the gym high intensity cardio at least 3 times a week. I made the following changes: - Had this mantra, you are what you eat. Everytime I wanted something I told myself, is it good for me, and will it benefit my training. - Started running and swiming to mix things up - Started eating more lean protein, and always had at least 3 egg whites every day as a snack at 10AM. - No fruit later than lunchtime - Dont be afraid of carbs, but stick to brown rice, sweet potatoe etc. - Lay off the junk food, no crisps, no fried chips, donuts, pastries etc. - Lay off the bread, in all forms, even the low GI stuff - Try not eat after 6:30pm - CLA supplements seem to help - 70% dark chocholate if you have a sugar craving - If you want to mars bar or something, ratehr reach for a protein bar, might cost more, but at least you getting some protein in you. This isnt hard fast rules, but simply what worked for me. I have lost the 5kgs, and am on my way to trying to lose another 2.5kg to get tomy new goal weight. The biggest difference, I have noticed, is that despite not losing the kgs, I have lost inches, and have slowly built up the muscle. Rome wasn't built in a day, and this is a gradual process, do not expect results in 4 weeks, but stick to it, and after 3 months you will definitly notice the difference. I still heve the odd cheat day, and will demolish a pizza at least once a week, but you need to reward yourself.
  3. I wear my normal short finger gloves, then cheap pair of thermal gloves over your short finger gloves. Easy to stuff them gloves in your jersey if your fingers get too warm. Bought a decent pair last year for about R130 from Cape Union Mart, then use a black tennis sweatband for all the snot Toe caps for feet did the job last year, with thick Falke thermal socks also from Cape Union Mart. Mr Price Elite long sleeve compression top R140 under my cycling jersey, then for the legs, First Ascent running tights R600 now I think, but about to use them for my 4th season, and they seem to last well, handy zips on the ankle which I unzip if I get too warm. Buff over the ears R199, and I think I might even get a 2nd one this year for the neck. We ride all through winter, and find the above is enough.
  4. Hi, what race are you doing? I have a mate who needs a lift from King Shaka to Underberg, and hasnt sorted yet. He is doing the race, so will need to be up in Underberg on the Wed pm.. Thx
  5. My 1st Sani2c, doing the race........... Been getting loads of mountain bike training time mixed in with long steady road rides, hopefully my training is enough........gulp worried now.
  6. Nespresso! When I wake up at 04:50 for my Sat ride, the last thing I want to do is faff about with grinding beans etc. Switch it on, put my bibs on, and it is ready for me to push the buttom for my espresso. Ditto for early morning gym sessions. Need I say more!
  7. Just an observation, if you buy 2nd hand on the Hub, you lose any warranty in anycase. But at least you are getting a product where you know the quality will be good.
  8. In my opinion, it wont, not with that sort of a size difference. Nice bike tho, sorry its a bit small for you.
  9. Come now MTB_Trooper, you cant tease us like that, spill the beans!
  10. Thx Karakoram, I agree with you, how do the guys in the shops get their training, assume it is by learning in a shop as an aprentice etc. Hopefully someone will catch on that there is a demand for this, although perhaps the LBS wont like it as we will all start fixing our own bikes.........or maybe Im wrong and most people are happy to fork out R350/R450 for a service and clean.
  11. Wow I thought there might be one reply on the Hub, maybe there is a gap in the market here?
  12. Guys, Have four bikes at home and want to learn how to service/fix them myself. Am looking for services in the Jozi northern suburbs area for tuition etc. Yellow saddle has closed its doors. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanking you in advance
  13. Flip thats nice! Big improvement on the old bike.
  14. A mate of mine has them, and also had issues with reliability. They have already been back to chop to be fixed. The review in Bycycling a few months back did mention they had a concern of the fagility of the pedals. I would wait for the 2nd version to be released before shelling out almost R20k, and spend it on a new se to of wheels rather...
  15. That black looks hot imo there is black already on the bike so a perfect match. I would be happy
  16. 2014 model witll have Fox rear shock, 2013 and earlier models had DT shock which I have heard from a number of people should be upgraded as soon as you can. For Scott to change their 2014 bikes to Fox rear shock is a clear admission that their previous shock wasnt up to par with the competion. 2014 bikes will be more expensive due to axchange rate. I would try and pick up a 2013 model somewhere if you can. Was going to get the Giant Anthem, but you will stuggle to find stock. I did see a large 2013 Anthem at Morningside Cycles in Sandton price was R23k discounted.
  17. I have the Trek 100 Superfly, and love it to bits. Picked up the Elite for R20k at the Sports Basement in JHB
  18. Ha ha you right, I should have removed my saddle bag when I took the pic, not giving the bike justice.
  19. My new baby, with her new Cosmics going to be a great 1st ride this Sat!!
  20. i think the start group is more important...coming from the back you encounter many traffic jams...slows you down plenty as i found out yesterday starting in PP +1 they will pull you along if you can hang on, and no back markers to slow you down!
  21. Can be done, with lots of hard work, and right attitude. Alot can be done in a year. Dunno what his training was like before he took things to another level, but sure he must have done some sucking.....

  23. So, Did 3:05.01 last year and did 3:05.01 this year, thought I would see some improvement based on my training all the way through winter! 60-80km rides every weekend. Last year I only started training in August. Do you guys think the weather played much of a part in the times this year. From looking at racetec results in terms of last year v this year, I seem to have gone backwards or am I just being hard on myself? Most guys I spoke to seem to have done similair or better times than last year. Weather conditions last year were easy.
  24. I have the 2013 Scott Scale 940, and love it! Good spec, and great looking bike. Paid R16k for it.....
  25. Garmin edge 500. Does everything you need with hr and cadence package. Got mine off easybike 5 months ago for the bundle was R2600 including delivery. Battery life very good and swop between mtb and road bike a twist.
